Klaatu was a project by three men from Canada... that didn't release their names until the fourth release 'Endangered Species"... and actually did live shows, which I was lucky to see one of them. I still have a poster advertising the show.
I wonder how many people have ever heard the mouse squeak at the end of this cut, it's only on the original album release. I remember before the album was released it was being passed around in the studios as a demo to get reactions. I was doing drum tracks for a band called Airborne at The House Of Music in Orange New Jersey at the time and it totally blew us all away. These guys were way ahead of their time.
I bought this album on its first day of release at SAM THE RECORD MAN in Toronto. This has always been my favourite track. Thank you for making it even better.
This was the most beautiful song off of the album. I’m 49 and my father who introduced me to this album is dying now from Alzheimer’s thank you for sharing this. I’m going to visit him for Father’s Day later this afternoon and I’m going to play this for him and neither one of us has heard this in at least twenty years. Cheers.
I purchased this album when it was first released and still have it in my collection.A very well done video that attempts to match the mesmerizing shock of this Spacey tune...OMG!! JT.
I first heard 3:47 E.S.T. when I was 12 - in the fall of 1976 shortly after its release in the summer of that year. This track became my favourite song for awhile, until I probably played it to death. It seemed to me I was the only one who felt the same way. I knew it was due to my Superior tastes! While "Calling Occupants" made the charts and was selling the album, it was THIS track which for me, FAR out shone all the other tracks on the album, and everything else Klaatu ever published. My opinion on this has never changed. I am glad to have had music like THIS and other 70's music ruling the pop charts when I was growing up, instead of the insufferable, infinitely Idiotic pop garbage, that is polluting, and corrupting the air, and minds of young kids & teens today. There truly is no accounting for bad taste, because to do so would likely reveal something far worse...BOO!! HISSS!! ~Good work, and thanks for posting it.
Why is it that I've searched "Klaatu" at least a dozen times (at the very least) over the past several years and your video has never come up? This is beyond awesome into the realm of my acid-tripping days of simply "Oh Wow!"
It was a simplistic example. As of now, it is known that there is no way mass could reach near-light-speed, no matter the condition. In the documentary, Hawking attempts to whittle down how something travels in relation to speed and time for a simple understanding by the viewer, so he uses an easy-to-grasp visual example (the train, then the ship). In the example, though, it was not several thousand-times light speed, it was NEAR light speed. That was a major point in his explanation, actually.
I knew today: neutrinos respect the cosmic speed. They are not faster than the speed of life like was announced in september 2011. I love Klaatu... great band!
I think I first heard this in about 77 or 78, but listening to it today on headphones made me realize ti doesn't matter what time it is. If you look up the word 'trippy' in the dictionary there's a link to this song :)
"im passing through someone known as you, and yet you'll never know i do." It's a cool concept that klaatu covers here. we are following a neutrino that was shot from a star. every day hundreds, if not thousands of particles of light cut through you as their wavelengths are too short to interact with your molecules. These waves are thought to be from stars millions of light years away, some passing through entire planets or even stars. what has that particle seen, and is it itself a little form of the star it came from? its like a cosmic form of the idiom "if these walls could talk" "i myself refuse to be" light does not experience time, or space. it simply is. it, being the speed limit of the universe, is at all times where it was, is, and will be. In that sense it does not experience "being" as we do. suppose a rock doesn't either, but you get what i'm saying.
I'm glad you liked it, James! It means a lot that you'd ask me of all people to help you out. All in all, though, I'd be more than happy to join you on this project! If you have Skype, we should connect there and push this conversation further. Let me know and I'll PM you my screen-name.
No, neutrinos don't travel faster than light speed. They jump in and out of our four-dimensional space/time continuum. They hop into the fifth dimension and back into our universe, lending to the illusion that they're crossing more space than they actually are. They don't even have to travel at light speed to do it.
Yes it get in Your nerves.. What is You made Of? What is Your Purpose in This World? Where Are You Going in Your Life? And in Afterlife? Lots of Questions! 😉👍
They are from three candian dudes Dee long John Woloshuck and one other. It the '76 there was a conspiracy that this band is acctually beatles reunited but at the end of the year it was found out that they are not and fans of the beatles started boycoting Klaatu and that is why they aren't popular today
Huh! That's an interesting explanation. I guess I don't understand neutrinos as well as I thought, haha! Thanks for the comment, man. Hope you liked the video.
Salamaster101 Incorrect. Neutrinos were first theorized in 1930 and were "discovered" as early as 1956, Wikipedia tells me. They've never caught one yet however. As for the tune, I bought all of Klaatu's albums back in the day. This was from their best album and was one of their most incredible tunes. Still makes my skin crawl...
@TheZookyDragon oh ya :) that's what i was thinking of. This whole theory of the speed of neutrinos is amazing because this would prove a part of Eisenstein's theory of relativity wrong and Stephen Hawking's back up theory of time travel through the universal speed barer :o i personally think physicist and cosmologist are trying to prove the speed of neutrinos wrong because they don't have a theory to replace the the ones already proven. many great discoveries were base on Eisenstein's theory!
Problem is that the starship is depicted traveling SEVERAL THOUSAND TIMES the speed of light under ROCKET POWER. You know the problem, right? Let's think about what happens to mass at light speed.
Thanks for doing this. Great job! I first heard this song when I won the then just released album on a radio station "5th caller giveaway" sort of thing. Found the whole album mesmerizing -- drugs without having to take drugs. I just posted this video as a reply to a Tweet about U of Wisconsin scientists' recent work on detection of violent collision of neutron stars. jsonline [dot] com/story/news/education/2017/10/16/uwm-scientists-help-detection-violent-collision-neutron-stars/768100001/
I'm still blown away by how little attention this song gets. It's the greatest psychedelic song of all time.
I could just Agree! It deserve more attention in This difficult times!

So lucky, I’ve got a 3:47 Est vinyl that I gotten shipped from Canada (just realising you commented on this 9 years ago so you won’t respond lol)
Oh you lucky dawg - to see them live.
I wonder how many people have ever heard the mouse squeak at the end of this cut, it's only on the original album release. That is so cool!
You really have to turn up the volume level high right after the explosive signal and thats why the mouse is on the cover of the albums.
I love the tiny faint mouse squeek! The best lesser-known band ever... :'(
I can't find the mouse sound! :)
It is on the CD also.
I remember sitting in the kitchen at 15 listening to the radio thinking who are these guys?.
Never given enough credit.
I bought this album on its first day of release at SAM THE RECORD MAN in Toronto. This has always been my favourite track. Thank you for making it even better.
Awesome video, fantastic Canadian band..............amazing frickin song! Canada rocks!

😥
The sheer epic majesty of this music blows me away every time! Thank you for posting this.
"Calling Occupants..." is also like that. Wish Klaatu's version had been the hit instead of the Carpenters' version.
Great job, I bought this album when it first came out, still a great song and you made it better....
Klaatu needs a Grammy
U MEAN DESERVES..
Grammy needs a Klaatu
11 years later, it still holds up. Thanks for the post!
I Will allways return to This song in my living Years! 🥰👍
Your choices and sincing of the scenes in this video a perfect. Thank you Zing.

I purchased this album when it was first released and still have it in my collection.A very well done video that attempts to match the mesmerizing shock of this Spacey tune...OMG!! JT.
I have 4 of the original Klaatu albums, I think this is their best track, and you have done a brilliant job with this video. Thank you.
I love this. I had this album in 1976.
Debra Hiner I did, too. One of the greatest ever.
thank you! very nice job. Ever wonder if the scientists have listened to this? imagine michio kaku or neil degrasse-tyson using it in a lecture....
Nice job! + for including the awesome Saturn V!
excellent edit. I grew up with the space program and Klaatu!
Amazing work! Both by the band long ago but also by you with this video! Bravo zing!
That is just absolutely outstanding my man !!!
Excellent! Mind blowing visions of outer space along with my favorite Klaatu song, thanks!

'Calling Occupants' by Klaatu did not make the charts, the song was made popular by The Carpenters
the clips in this are beautiful, Zook. not to mention how awesome the song it. Great job
Really well done video. Fits & suits the music perfectly. Good job!
This is magnificent. TY so much for posting this.
My favorite of the album, one of my favorites. Glad to see the lyrics. I used to think it was "two bazookas on the Sun", lol.
My fave: Subrosa Subway. Anus of Uranus is a funny, silly one too.
Fantastic job on this video. Great accompaniment to the song. Adding the lyrics was a nice touch.
Awesome!
Zing Grem, you;ve done an amazing job bringing to life this largely unknown song.
one of the first songs I ever wanted to listen to over and over again. Thank you for making this.
Great rendition!
This music sounds like it should have been on the soundtrack for the movie Interstellar.
Powerfull. thanks
Loved it in the early 70's, but this is marvelous! Especially when turned up to intensely insane volume. My speakers are having an eargasm.
Congratulations on the video you made, Zing - excellant job!
Very cool. Very cool indeed!
wow, wow, wow. You've done an excellent job complementing this amazing song. Everything sincs up exactly. Good job, this is beautiful.

Why this impossibly beautiful gem never went further is a mystery.
Awesome video for an incredible song!
My brother had this album, I really loved this song, I would play it over and over. This is the first time I've seen a video that went with it.
Well done, thank you for the excellent entertainment.
Well done! I was mesmerized :)
Absolutely love this band what
a amazing band light years ahead of its time ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I love it. Thank you.❤
Here is some progressive "Space Rock" to enjoy. Best while buzzed and head-phoned. The Stephen Hawkings "Into the Universe" clips are nice.
awesome!
Excellent video!

this song is truly a masterpiece
wish they'd done more tripping head music like this
Well that was an awesome experience thanks!

Oh what different place this song takes me to in my mind...
I’m lucky to have this on vinyl
I like the video. I hope someday we as humans can reach those ever farther vistas.

❤🎉 *¡enjoyed at 8:35 pm Pacific DayLight Savings Time on Sunday, 20 August 2023!* ❤❤🎉
very well done video
Bravo!!!
wait is that the Discovery Ed logo I see?
I bought the 8 track for my portable player back in '76 while in the service. My naval buddies didn't find it as entertaining as I.

Dr Sheldon Cooper would love this video
i SAW A RECENT VIDEO WHERE THEY SAY THAT JOHN LENNON IS ALIVE AND LIVES IN CANADA......This music and lirycs could be from him.....
They are from three candian dudes Dee long John Woloshuck and one other. Mello feeling with wakening brain
fantastic video, deep song
crreepy: nutrions were discovered just recently. this song is from 1976

good
people around me have no clue?
@JohnAdamsHarvard1992 No, I have a problem with hacks.
that was apparently bad data that suggested that....
Boradis.
one of the best music videos I've ever seen. fabulous song, fabulous video
