    To the people who say axis longboards are too expensive let me point out that i have had my axis pedals for 11 years and they still play just as good as they did the day i bought them so for me they were worth every penny.

    @xLambOfGod if u follow direct drive bar up to that peace next to your beater mount its a a little bar with either a thumb screw or a drum key bolt just losen it up and and move that little peice up that little bar as far as it will go and that will move your foot board..

    I had to special order the from a local music store here in Arizona. I dont think any stores sell them at the moment, you can order them on the musicians friend website. and as of right now the A-21 derek roddy series only come in a single bass pedal

    The comparable adjustment the DW 9000 has to the VDL on the Axis, is the Adjustable Cam, not the footboard height adjustment. 4:28 to 5:00

  • @SamuTheFrog
    @SamuTheFrog 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    I definitely prefer solid state(through 5 second try outs at various stores that have them setup for test use), but I couldn't afford Axis, so I went to Gibraltar for their top line pedals, the solid state drive version, they were great at first but quickly became worse, to the point where they were feeling like chain drives, even when I put new bearings and oil on them. I've wanted pearl demon drives for a while as we'll, but I hear they have a lot of issues straight out of the box.

  • @JasonNewnam
    @JasonNewnam 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video, I have a DW 9000 single pedal. I love it. Personally, I am not into fast kick patterns. But, I found out DW has a new 5000 pedal that doesn't have the heel plate, for you guys looking into DW's. I'm not trying to sway any opinions.

    its about feeling, and habit, so choose which pedal you feel confortable on. personally iron cobra is the perfect pedal for my style, just it`s the most versatile doublepedal i ever tryed, personally the sensation of pearls, dws, gib, yamahaas disturb a bit my playing, so have to said iron cobra i got best result working with.

  • @nonhasthisusername
    @nonhasthisusername 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    the last issue i can think of now hehe;) is that there are no index marks on anything, so you never know where exactly you had your settings, now this is not only a problem when your trying out different possitions and features of the pedal but also if your taking them apart for a gig, your not eigible to put it back where it was when reassembling it, which is why mine broke, because i didn't take them apart because i wanted them to feel just like they did in the practice space.

  • @BaddPanda
    @BaddPanda 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Iron cobras all the way, I never have any problems hitting the footplate playing at high speeds, and definitely for me the most comfortable and consistent pedals, and still great at higher speeds

  • @TechDeathCowboy
    @TechDeathCowboy 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    What's the whole idea of the electronic drum trigger?

  • @nonhasthisusername
    @nonhasthisusername 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    first issue you won't have if you have 2 seperate bassdrums, second issue is that you can't adjust the footboard independently of the beater angle or vise versa, third issue is that the pedals are quite prizey and you have to buy a case speratly, which i didn't do because the pedals cost me to much, and that resulted in pedals breaking on the second third gig i ever did with my band. Fourth issue which they now hopefully fixed with the signature pedals is that the screws don't hold, they loosen.

  • @falconer6439
    @falconer6439 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Gilligunz .....Iron Cobras are actually pretty good for chain driven pedals (alot of people were using them before axis got big). But it is all personal preference.

  • @SamuTheFrog

  • @1OOOOpeople

    great video, informative and unbiassed. Thanks for giving me a look at the axis pedal. Its blatantly obvious that the are definitely some potential advantages in the axis pedal in comparison to the dw 9000 pedal. I personally wouldn't buy either but thats only because I'm not very good with my footwork and therefore don't yet need a pedal of such a high quality to meet my needs as a drummer. Seriously though, thanks for the great video. :D

  • @TomDrummer95
    @TomDrummer95 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you're buying a pedal of similar quality to the Axis, you can get the pedal to feel more or less how you want. I'm in the same position as you, but I bought a pair of Axis As from eBay hoping for the best. Definitely made the right choice.

    @TheUndefined3 I don't think that gaining access to the spring would be much of a problem,but you would probably have to order the actual spring from Trick.
    So it would most likely be very simple,but may be less than convenient.

My ? is....would they be a good pedal for a drummer that plays jazz,funk..with the evrey now and then quick double base notes.. In other words can it be used as a regular pedal for regular music... Just wondering..Thanks for any info

  • @nonhasthisusername
    @nonhasthisusername 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    a couple of other issues i forgot to mention is the velcro, or valcro or whatever it is spelled, yeah sure your pedal doesn't move but you actually have to pull so hard that the rug gets fucked up, when you have to pull that hard it makes bumps in your rug, now during a gig if your making a fast change on your slave you may risk bumps that you can't do anything about so when you put your pedal back down it is unstable and wriggly cause of the bump in the rug.

    Well, in Australia (where I live), Trick Pro 1-V double pedals retail at AU$1,599.00, while Axis A longboards retail for AU$1,299.00.
    I'm not sure what it's like in the rest of the world, but I've always known Trick to be the one pedal manufacturer that charges even more than Axis.

  • @themetalgod21
    @themetalgod21 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I had a pedal like that when I started out playing. Now it was a cheap pedal but I broke the metal that im talking about. The dude at the store was like it cant be fixed and my old man was pissed cause he had to shell out money for a new pedal like the one weckl used on the next step and back to basics. The metal piece has no give and if you hit the kick drum notice I said kick drum hard enough the metal when under stress has to give. With the chains if they break they can be replaced

  • @TheUndefined3

    i am currently using the iron cobra hp 900 double pedals, and they are roughly anywhere between 400 - 550 new, i got them a couple moths used for 300,
    i know what you mean about the slack in the chain someties when i am playing really fast it lags a tiny bit,, how much did you pay for your axis pedals,
    and does it work for heel down drumming as well/?

    @SAWUSB1 what drummer on earth said that? Ive had both.... and so far axis kicks the shit out of demon drives, hands down. demon drives don't have any power. theyre only good if you use triggers. I learned to play double bass with out triggers, and so far axis pedals are the only pedals that hit hard enough to let me play 270 bpm and still be able to hear separation in notes.

    You're absolutely correct sir, it is a matter of preference but I'm also thinking of moving to an Axis pedal from my DW9000. Aside from the obvious advantage with the different foot boards mostly my decision is based on the link drive VS the chain drive. Unfortunately, I am a left hand drummer and my only option is the Axis X2 Double Left-Footed pedal. Another feature is being able to separate the two pedals for two bass drums. The Axis pedal I want to buy does not have a trigger but I don't need one. So is this pedal the same as the one you just used for your demo? www.guitarcenter.com/Axis/X-Double-Left-Footed-Double-Bass-Drum-Pedal.gc#productDetail Thanks!

    The only thing that is good about the Axis is that you can play really really fast with them, you can play really fast with the DW too but you'll get moore power with the DW. But if you are a 270 bpm drummer then the Axis pedal suits you better :) but personaly i like the DW better, the Axis is way too sensetive for me, and so is the Tama Speed cobra. :)

    Yes, I did mean "are" of course. I apologise of being incapable of spelling in a language that isn't my mothertongue. And I'm sure there are numerous misspellings and incomprihensible sentences in this answer too, And not a single fuck was given by anyone. And what facts am I not getting? that to achieve speeds over 200 bpm one must have either axis or demondrive? And since it was I who brought Gene up it might be possible i know of his other bands aswell :)
