Kinda agree, regular 1792 was my gateway bourbon along with ASW fiddler. After tracking it down, grabbed 1792 FP and it drinks real hot too me. Have a backup but will let it breathe and see.
EC Toasted was good to me from the start and just got better as it opened up. The Larceny B523 is amazing and the Benchmark Full Proof is great as well. I got to try Blanton's a little while back and I'm not interested in paying what people are asking since there are others that cost less and are better. Keep up the good work!
I really enjoy 1792 Full Proof but it isn't a go-to high proof pour for me. It also always places fairly low when I throw it into blinds. Anytime I grab a pour of it though I am very happy. I think the flavor just hit good until it's compared against something more complex. It's a great $45-50 bottle when it's around and it's one of the higher proof store picks you find from a legacy distillery. Eagle Rare... yeah, I agree. It's just sweet up front and nothing else. For a 10 year bourbon there is basically no oak impact and it just doesn't do anything for me. It's good. I can see why a novice would love it. But... It's really just a mixer for me. It makes a good highball and it goes well into an Old Fashioned due to the red fruit notes. Knob Creek 18... These are everywhere since like December at $170. Batch 2 also doesn't have the wood box and sucks. Seriously, it's worse than KC9 somehow... Their $30 bottle just has more going on than the $170 bottle. I think they just had some really really old barrels that had gone totally tannic and they just dumped them into the batch to clear rickhouse space or something. The only note I get on that bottle is tannic sour oak. No caramel, honey, vanilla, or fruit. Like someone else chewed up tree bark and then baby-birded it to me.
Completely agree that Blanton's is not worth the hype or MSRP. I think it usually just tastes like Buffalo Trace but worse. Buffalo Trace is blended and they achieve a better balanced profile that regular blanton's which has about 40% water added to it compared to STFB. I hate single barrel products that are watered down just because that is what the brand sells that bottle at. Also... yes Benchmark is a KILLER value. Ever once in a while when I'm traveling through IN and KY I find them for $18 or less. I try not to have a ton of backup bottles but I can't help but add more backups of Benchmark when its $18 or less. I almost always have a full line up plus backups of each benchmark bottle (except 8) because they are not sold in my state. There have been times when I'm traveling that I go out to a liquor store and grab a Benchmark Bonded, Single Barrel, or Full Proof just to have cheap hotel whiskey. It's something that I don't mind leaving behind since I'm not taking open bottles onto a plane and its cheaper than getting 2 pours of whiskey at the hotel bar.
Great video. good stuff. cheers
Thanks Doc!
Great list! I never had the Blue Run due to the price and it seems I'll not be getting a bottle anytime soon. Thanks for the video!
Yeah, and that's our opinion. You might like it, but we have gone back to it multiple times and still don't like it. Cheers, WhiskeyBank!

There should be demerits for plastic left on the neck.
Or a good ol' spankin'!! HAHA!
Solid list. I hope one day I’ll have so many options that Eagle Rare is just meh. Appreciate the new content 🥃
Yep, and that's just because of the position we've put ourselves in. ER just doesn't do it for me anymore. Cheers!

HALLELUJAH !!!! The truth finally comes out about Sinatra !!!!!!!
Ahh, we've said it for a while. It's a good collector's piece and the juice is good, but don't buy multiple of them.

Eagle is a bit overrated because it's allocated...
And because it's been stamped with that Buffalo Trace stigma. haha
You ever drank bourbon from a shoe?
No....but we have drank Bailey's from a shooooeee!
