Indianapolis 500 The Simulation came out 1989/1990 for DOS and Amiga. It made this game looks very dated, not much different from Pole Position from 1982(??) The Indianapolis 500 game was much nicer on the Amiga, of course. Especially with a 14Mhz CPU or better. Crashing generated cool effects of flying parts.
I absolutely love Pole Position, Grand Prix Circuit and Indianapolis 500. The crashes and all the flying parts in Indianapolis 500 are so much fun to play - they really add to the excitement.
