I mean maybe a team pays teoscar a little more now since soto signed but if they were willing to sign soto, they were gonna massively overpay for him anyways. 54M/yr is too much for a glorified DH that soto is gonna be in a couple years. And he didn't defer any money to help the team out.
Steve Cohen doesn't need him to defer the money. He's on pace to be one of the greatest hitters ever and has never had a bad season or an injury. It was a bidding war to make the Yankees look bad and give the Mets legitimacy so he ended up being worth more to the Mets than he would to anyone else
@@LockedOnRangersMLB ya but just cause a team doesn't NEED deferrals doesn't mean it wouldn't help out. Dodgers owners are a rich group but ohtani still offered to defer 97% of his contract. They didn't need him to defer money but it sure helps a lot. I just think 54M for someone who is bad defensively and can't run, will age badly. Yes he's a generational hitter but that's it. Should only be around 40M/yr at most for 12 years. It's crazy that even when soto is age 36-41, he'll still be getting paid 54M each yr. That's just insane overpay.
I thought this was a Rangers podcast? Why spend so much time discussing the Yankees, Steinbrenner, Soto, Conforto, and all these other teams? Spend more time on Rangers players and targets: Eovaldi, Heaney, Yates, Robertson, even Roki. People listening to Locked On Rangers want to, you know, hear about the RANGERS? We can get national media stuff from national media outlets! 🤦🏾
Soto is getting paid annually like 2 good players. The years are nuts but annually it’s like Semien+Seager
I agree this only ups the all ready skyhigh market. Cheap nickel and dime teams like us are going too hurt.

The Mets had 21 billion reasons why he didn’t need to defer the money.

What do you think about the Rangers and Teoscar Hernández
