    This is brilliant, seeing Alan surrounded by an audience that isn't his somehow makes it even better.

    Poor Steve Coogan having to slog his way through an ITV audience with a combined IQ of 50.

    Would love to see how many people thought he was a genuine person
    Also would love to know how much was improvised by Coogan, the P&O jibe definitely was

    • @pudmuddle
      @pudmuddle 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Actually I would argue the P&O jibe was the only pre-conceived thing Coogan had in mind for his performance on the show.

    This might the best “Alan” performance I’ve seen Steve Coogan do since “I’m Alan Partridge” - it felt improvised, natural and he’s gone back to the classic voice. This was seriously better than it needed to be, probably wasted on a mainstream ITV audience though, but who knows, probably great for his streaming shows.

    If you saw the Steve Coogan interview on Sunday Brunch the next day, he mentions it’s weird being in a world of tv so different to the one he’s used to. He says he pretty much did it to sell Stratagem.

    @Lucas26vvv 2 ปีที่แล้ว +33

    The audience all have ‘live, laugh, love’ on their walls, call 8pm “pink gin o’clock” and worship Loose Women as deities. They lacked the intelligence to understand Partridge humour, which made it even funnier.

  • @kernowarty
    @kernowarty 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    The next experiment should be to make the audience think they are turning up to Ant and Decs Saturday night Takeaway but then instead they are subjected to a 3 hour, full text Shakespeare play. I would suggest The Merchant of Venice. And then see how many are still in their seats at the end.

      Lmfao. I was actually living abroad the first time he came on TV in the early/mid 90s, I came back to the UK for Xmas and went to a mate's flat with a couple of other mates and we rolled spliffs and opened tins of beer, and Mike put a videotape of Knowing Me Knowing You with AP in, not saying anything. I sat there for a while thinking why the hell do they want to watch a mediocre chat show??? It took a few minutes before I realised, I think it was the ''am I right? You're not wrong'' comedian that did it.

    I like the way most of the audience didn't get Alan's send up of inane, crass and cringeworthy ITV Saturday night "entertainment". I bet a large proportion of that audience have never watched Alan's shows, or anything Coogan has been in come to that. This crowd are the sort of people that would have once been Noel Edmond's audience in his equally embarrassing "House Party". They seem to enjoy just clapping to the music more than anything else, like performing seals. Next week... Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer as guest announcers....Please!!!
