- Patrick Corbin was one of the most dominant southpaws in MLB during the late 2010s, but following his game seven win in the 2019 World Series he has been nothing short of disastrous on the mound. He has led the NL in losses for 3 straight seasons, allowed 200+ hits and 100+ earned runs in 3 straight years all the while playing with a lucrative 6 year 140 million dollar contract.

You gotta respect him for at least showing up to work. Rendon and the rest of these overpaid clowns all sit out and don't care, he hasn't missed a start in years despite getting torched every time out. It really is crazy.
This is true. Guys like Strasburg too. At his peak he could go toe to toe with the best of them. But could never stay healthy, even though he tried and tried and tried. But yeah. Corbin, while he’s atrocious, it’s not for a lack of trying.
Agreed, only thing I can give him probs for in these recent years. He’ll get shelled and still show up every fifth day.
No mlb players sit out willingly this isn’t the nba or nfl
@@iznovaaThat really doesn't happen in the NFL. The games are too precious to mess around with.
@@kristopherwilson506stars physically couldn’t perform anymore
I think that people will look back positively on his time in washington, he did really help them win that world series
Game 7 winner
As soon as i looked at the title i knew this was about Patrick Corbin
As soon as I looked at the thumbnail I knew this was about Patrick Corbin
it wasn’t the thumbnail that gave it away?
I the biggest reason that Nationals fans don't want to kill him, or Stephen Strasburg, is because they DID win them a world series. Despite the horrible stats, and negative WAR, Nats fans still got what they paid for.
When you're a pitcher that HAS to locate low in the strike zone to be effective, and you lose that, the wheels don't just come off. They fly off and leave the ballpark!! That's Corbin.
there are many players at a professional level that are riding the razor's edge of being an effective player. any little bit of fall off mentally or physically and they can spiral downward like crazy (see: Javier Baez, as much as I am loathe to admit it as a Cubs fan)
The main issue for Corbin was the fact that he only used his slider through out his career but once hitters figured out how to hit it he chose to rely on another pitch instead of getting in the batters mindset he just went back and forth with his main pitch and other pitches
couple that with him releasing the pitch way late compared to what he used to and he essentially ruined himself in every way possible. it gets less break and hitters know to sit on it
From what this Nationals fan has heard, once MLB started checking pitchers for the sticky stuff, his slider stopped sliding.
I always believed his 2020 was bad because of the short season, in spite of his numbers. However, his first starts in 2021 were pretty solid. His 3rd start was his 1st start after the league began checking pitchers for foreign substances. He gave up 11 runs to Arizona in less than 2 Innings, and has been bad ever since.
I believe the foreign substance checks are what caused his career to continually spiral, but despite this, I’ll always appreciate him for what he did in Game 7. Not the best overall contract, but still worth it because of that.
There's something to be said about his durability as well. All these years of getting shelled, yet I don't recall him ever missing a whole lot of time due to injuries, nor did he make any excuses for his bad outings. He's been able to take the ball every 5th day and eat innings for us, which is actually somewhat valuable for a rebuilding club. He's also been trying new things, such as adding a cutter to the arsenal. So it's clear that he's putting the effort in to try and improve. It's just... not working.
Obviously I'd rather him NOT get torched every outing. But at least he tries. And he goes out every 5th day without complaining or showing his ass on the field. This, plus his efforts in 2019 make it hard for me to hate Corbin, despite how bad his contract might seem on paper.
@codenamelarry6518 Righter than you realized: in 2022 I went to an event where Phil Wood straight-up said that, once MLB started checking for the sticky stuff, his killer slider stopped sliding.
@@TPTGopher It's an easy assumption to make, although it'll only remain a theory, unless we hear it from the man himself.
Volume is fine lol. However, awful contract but I think Nats fans should be fine with it, he was instrumental in that WS win
Banners fly forever.
How is this not a Manoah video?
I respect Corbin and always root for him to get a win. He’s a gamer
i knew it was corbin
Did the thumbnail give it away?
Flags fly forever go nats
Remember Jordan Zimmerman? Talk about a bad contract.
Love the editing good voice and never felt like the video was dull overall 8/10 video love the incorporation of stats too
I feel like u could slow down a little when u speak and not speak non stop during the video
Def gonna sub
no one careas
@@SPG8989the content creator probably does
I’ve made a decent amount of money fading Corbin, so naturally I’m a big fan lol
at least he was eating the inning .................while the son of washington is lying on the bench waiting for recovery since the 2019 finals mvp
He retired m8 lol
He was the winner of game 7 of the 2019 World Series. Shut down the Astros in the later innings. DC legend. Hope he enjoys his money lol
The weird thing is how his slider regressed. It was the best breaking ball in 2019 and now it’s one of the worst
Have heard from reliable sources that it stopped sliding when MLB started policing the sticky stuff.
Patrick Corbin going downhill so fast is so confusing
Rumor I heard from a legit insider is that, ever since MLB started cracking down on pitchers using sticky stuff, his slider doesn't slide.
I think ur volume is fine dude. Good video
Chad innings eater Patrick Corbin
I don’t remember patrick corbin ever being a bonified star… decent 2-4 starter yes
These pitcher's are getting bigger and faster. I wonder if they will move the mound back. Has not been done since 1893.
Well they did lower it more recently so I don’t think it’s completely unprecedented to make changes
@purebeast6812 I think they lowered it after Bob Gibson's heroic season back in the 1960's.
theyre experimenting with it in some minor leagues, what they do when testing new rules
@@ryanthompsonthompson820 yeah I wasn’t sure what year but I was definitely soon after the year of the pitcher
@@ryanthompsonthompson820after 1968 I believe
Close battle between Corbin and Jordan Lyles
Lyles relied HEAVILY on the sticky stuff
The Nats have been a flaming bag of trash since 2019. But hey they won a WS. More then my stupid mets have done in my lifetime
Last season they definitely overachieved with 70 wins. They have a World Series champion gm so always a chance they could bounce back
My comeback player of the year prediction
That would be a nice story.
I fully understand why the Nats signed the Strasburg contract, but this one was questionable from the start and now they are paying big time. But at least they didn't bite on Rendon, where the Angels played Sucker. He IS the worst pitcher in baseball, but he may lose that crown. The Mariners just signed Broken Down Old Horse How the Heck Is He Still an MLB Candidate Dallas Keuchel to a contract.
bro forgot patrick sandoval exists too
Patrick Sandoval was never good tho
i can hear you fine on my phone speaker
Was mad when Yanks first passed on him😂
kris bryant was good for the cubs wtf happened
Good thing cash didnt give him the loot
Volume is FINE. It’s better to have to adjust up than it is to adjust down if you’re unsure, you used good judgement.
I bulletproofed my elbow with unconventional exercises but im so out of shape my oblique feels one throw away from tearing 😂
Video on alfonso soriano?
I wouldn’t have been able to assemble a more random assortment of words and phrases than this if I spent all day trying , I’ll give you props for that .
@@lovedavantlamour301 not too random, just anatomy yapping
I really don’t like the Bryant argument ppl give he hasn’t really been healthy since signing the deal
Manoah next... he's cooked.
His contract sucks but he pitches every fifth day so atleast he is “earning” his money
Why doesn’t he like Paul Goldschmidt?
Just wanna weigh in and say I can hear the audio just fine at a comfortable level on my phone speaker
Iwanna ask nationals fans..obviously you want them to perform well but would you rather have no corbin for that run? And save the money so yall could compete the last couple years?
If we were gonna commit that kind of money to anyone it should have been trea turner and Juan Soto , but this is a bad faith argument to me because I don’t think the money spent on Corbin and Strasberg is why we let scherzer / Harper / rendon etc. go
Nope. Winning it all is never guaranteed. You sacrifice the future for a shot at winning. Teams do it all the time and come up short.
@@lovedavantlamour301it’s not they offered Soto 400mill all of them wanted to leave Washington.
He's a innings eater though
He got paid and said “deuces”
Basically everyone on that 2019 Team. The only one to come out unscathed so far has been Soto.
@@marcitos_9329 trea?
Actually he was nerfed

turn your mic up.
Turn up your volume.

Pretty loud to me
It’s literally fine…
it's perfectly fine
The worst pitcher in the MLB is Joe Kelly. Since the WBC, he is a war criminal but he still committing his crimes. His last one in date? The first Yamamoto's win with the Dodgers
calling Him a Star is quite pushing it..
He was a bit of a star. It’s not really meant like what you think. He was a star lefty in the league for a while
Corbin was never a star he was a good pitcher
I wonder what Corbin’s political views are?
Who cares
Who cares
he was always overated.
Not the worst pitcher in baseball, no need to sensationalize for views
🤣🤣 Hater.....
@@czarface893 of who?

Baseball players get paid way too much, especially considering it is a dying sport and the least dangerous compared to sports like basketball football and hockey
I swear, as I was typing "The worst pitcher in the MLB," I had a feeling that it would be a Washington National. I have been a Nationals fans since their move to DC. I know this team way too well apparently lol.
Crazy how they won the World Series on the back of their amazing rotation a few years ago
The Nats have been a flaming bag of trash since 2019. But hey they won a WS. More then my stupid mets have done in my lifetime
