I've softened a bit on her in the last seven years, considering what we know now, that production wouldn't give her extra clothes to wear. The fire really seemed to be the straw that broke the camel's back in her case. That's why I think Jeff is a little kinder to her. Na'Onka just acted entitled the entire time and not stepping out of the reward in the same episode was one of the most disgusting things to ever happen in Survivor. I can forgive quitting if it's taking a toll on you, but at least PRETEND like you feel bad for screwing other people over. There were three people sitting on that jury who wanted to still be in the game and they had to spend ten days with two quitters at Ponderosa, instead.

Penner, Skupin, Russell Swan, James, Bruce, among others, were all removed from the game through no fault of their own, didn't want to leave, but had serious medical issues that forced them out. Jenna, Sue, Kathy, and Dana all quit, but for legitimate reasons(thought(correctly) that her mom was dying, mental breakdown(for both Sue and Kathy), and in a huge amount of pain(even though she was medically cleared to stay). These two quit because they couldn't handle it anymore. That's an insult to every player who left the game for reasons beyond their control. 10 days left in the game, too. That's the worst part of it. If Na'Onka had quit the first time she'd wanted to, maybe people wouldn't be AS hard on her. Would've also given someone more deserving a chance to make the merge, like Yve or Jill. But quitting that late, they screwed over Marty, Brenda, and Alina, who all clearly would've wanted to still be in the game.
totally agree with you on everything, there are 'quitters' out there (basically all that you mentioned) that have real reasons to quit...but these 2 are probably the worse quits. Quitting with only 10 days left in the game, 1 who had an immunity idol at the time (yes, i know she gave it to Chase before she left), is just ridiculous. Purple Kelly was recruited by the production crew who told her she’d be playing the “hot girl” role and was only provided a bikini and sundress. They said she’d be voted out early and could enjoy a nice vacation at Ponderosa, yet there she was weeks into the show on the verge of hypothermia. The only reason she lasted that long was because Fabio gave her his jacket. 3. Even if we ignore Naonka and Purple Kelly’s health issues, if you get voted out before two people who planned on quitting, you absolutely don’t deserve to still be in the game. People really need to realize that contestants have literally almost died on this show due to the conditions. At some point self-preservation kicks in and some contestants begin to place their well-being over a television show.
Purple Kelly was not at fault, she was a recruit and was guaranteed to be voted out in first or second tribal, but circumstances made her stay and she wasn't ready for it.

She had a good chance of winning the game if she played her cards right. If I was on that Jury I wouldn't even speak to those two at Ponderosa. Because of this, bringing them back would give them a really unfair advantage as they would be in a much better physical and mental state than the seven who had continued playing after they were voted off.

Cant wait to be on survivor then find out I’m not allowed to have any clothes (barely any) and start having issues with all my hearing since everything is summed up to be louder after I was denied supplements when a few seasons prior James wasn’t denied any. Incredible moment honestly, this episode was great and shows how the environment can kill someone in wanting to stay. It's rare to see on the show. Also how Purple Kelly was basically set up for this since production purposefully gave her no clothes. The music at the end is amazing too.
I'm only 11 but like I would love to play this game and it makes me sick seeing people just quit especially since they made the merge that's my dream and I can't believe they would just throw that away

tbh I honestly don't think there's anything wrong with quitting. Sometimes people are pushed beyond their limits and put into a situation that puts their mental health in jeopardy and it's okay for them to back out of these situations. You'd rather have someone quit rather than hurt themselves physically or psychologically, right? If not, you are fucking heartless.
I think that they should bring Chase back for another season. I wasn't exactly crazy about him, but the truth is that he would've won the game if Naonka and Kelly weren't allowed on the jury.
Those those saying that the Jury should've returned, you gotta remember that that's not even close to being possible, because Jury members eat, shower, get cleaned, and do everytihng else that the current in-game contestants do, giving them an actually gigantic advantage over those who were still in the game.

After surviving in the elements for 14+ days with people that you barely know anything about when the season starts it eventually sinks into your head that "this game is gravy". It's like hiking the entire Appalachian or Pacific Crest trails. It's killing you some days while you're out there , but every couple of days you go to sleep feeling so high emotionally that you beat the mountain.
Not even if your child had a critical possible fatal accident and doctors were unsure how long they had to live? With all I just said, are you saying that you would still stay & continue to play survivor? I'm in the minority here but I can actually understand PK quitting. The production crew picks out the clothes everyone is allowed on the island and because PK was cast as the 20 year old "hot girl" on Survivor they only gave her a freaking bikini. Anything else she wore was borrowed from someone else. It's no wonder she got really sick at nights. NaOnka and Colton on the other hand I hated them both.

@Chloe Taterka You're not them and sometimes it is best to listen to your body. But Purple Kelley is already playing at a disadvantage if she has to cold every night while everyone else is warmer. They get to have better sleep which helps them physically and mentally.
If I'm so mentally broken, I will just sleep all day at the camp and freeride other people's work. If they vote me out so be it. In some circumstances I may even become so unlikeable that they want to keep me in the game longer.
Y’all need to calm down lmao. There are legitimate reasons people quit. I don’t understand the hate for Purple Kelly. First of all, she didn’t apply to be on the show, she was RECRUITED. Second of all, the producers were literally torturing her, by not letting her wear any clothes, which was why she finally snapped and quit. This is a fact several people have confirmed in interviews.

I think that Osten was the worst quitter of all time in Surviver. If one wanted to quit, ask your teammates to vote you off instead. And vote for someone that is not going home.
The only way Jeff could take me from the game would be like Terry, whose son was very sick (only time a family phone call was ever mentioned in Survivor) and he left the game. Or like Caleb. Just won the challenge and collapsed from exhaustion. Perhaps the worst medical evac. Survivor is not for quitters !!!

NaOnka quit because she wanted the luxuries and creature comforts of home (Evident when she didn't give up the reward for Camp Necessities) Purple Kelly quit because she was emotionally weak and can't handle the conditions any more. Both women was in a good position in the game. Kelly was likely to head to the final Tribal Council. what a waste of slots
Imo, they should have "smuffed" the torches and then thrown the torches into the bush, just like naonka and purple kelly threw away their chance to win the game. Seems symbolic.
Did you see the Reunion? On the Reunion, Brenda mentioned that what had been left out of the season was that Naonka knew that Brenda had already been gunning for her when she voted her out.
There was actually some good that came of this. Because of these two, there are now rules put in place that state that if someone quits, they do forfeit their jury place AND their consolation prize. It's considered a violation of their contract. Injuries and that will still get you evac'd though and your spot on the jury depends on your condition.

What they should do is hold on to the last few pre-jury vote-offs and have them take their places if needed

Since then they have reworked the rules to not allow quitters to be on the jury.

It makes me mad that ppl quit bc ppl like Adam were waiting for years to play, and these ppl just take up a spot

Incredible moment honestly, this episode was great and shows how the environment can kill someone in wanting to stay. It's rare to see on the show. Also how Purple Kelly was basically set up for this since production purposefully gave her no clothes. The music at the end is amazing too.

I'm only 11 but like I would love to play this game and it makes me sick seeing people just quit especially since they made the merge that's my dream and I can't believe they would just throw that away

tbh I honestly don't think there's anything wrong with quitting. Sometimes people are pushed beyond their limits and put into a situation that puts their mental health in jeopardy and it's okay for them to back out of these situations. You'd rather have someone quit rather than hurt themselves physically or psychologically, right? If not, you are fucking heartless.
It's like playing a board game, and someone whants to quit. The others can't really keep playing.
I made myself a promise that if I ever was on Survivor, I would never quit knowing how hard people attempt to get on this show.

Purple Kelly is literally the biggest floater in survivor history.
Between her & Romeo in season 42 all u saw was him sitting in the same spot occasionally eating rice with his hands.
Purple Kelly was her nickname because she had bit of purple in her hair and there was another Kelly in the game.
I think that they should bring Chase back for another season. I wasn't exactly crazy about him, but the truth is that he would've won the game if Naonka and Kelly weren't allowed on the jury.
And this is the ONLY thing this season will ever be remembered for, 2 people quitting on the same night

They should not be part of the jury. Instead of them jeff should call to the last two players voted out before the jury began
Those those saying that the Jury should've returned, you gotta remember that that's not even close to being possible, because Jury members eat, shower, get cleaned, and do everytihng else that the current in-game contestants do, giving them an actually gigantic advantage over those who were still in the game.
@Vigrysek Exactly...the only time I can justify someone quitting was in Jenna's scenario, where her mom was dying of cancer, and she needed to spend every moment she could with her...it's not like she couldn't handle it, because she already proved on Amazon that she could ♥♥

After surviving in the elements for 14+ days with people that you barely know anything about when the season starts it eventually sinks into your head that "this game is gravy".
It's like hiking the entire Appalachian or Pacific Crest trails.
It's killing you some days while you're out there , but every couple of days you go to sleep feeling so high emotionally that you beat the mountain.

With all I just said, are you saying that you would still stay & continue to play survivor? I'm in the minority here but I can actually understand PK quitting. The production crew picks out the clothes everyone is allowed on the island and because PK was cast as the 20 year old "hot girl" on Survivor they only gave her a freaking bikini. Anything else she wore was borrowed from someone else. It's no wonder she got really sick at nights.
NaOnka and Colton on the other hand I hated them both.
BrettMKW I just don’t see why anyone would quit the chance of a lifetime, the chance for one million dollars, unless they are like like permanently hurting themselves physically.
@Chloe Taterka You're not them and sometimes it is best to listen to your body. But Purple Kelley is already playing at a disadvantage if she has to cold every night while everyone else is warmer. They get to have better sleep which helps them physically and mentally.

If I'm so mentally broken, I will just sleep all day at the camp and freeride other people's work. If they vote me out so be it. In some circumstances I may even become so unlikeable that they want to keep me in the game longer.

Y’all need to calm down lmao. There are legitimate reasons people quit. I don’t understand the hate for Purple Kelly. First of all, she didn’t apply to be on the show, she was RECRUITED. Second of all, the producers were literally torturing her, by not letting her wear any clothes, which was why she finally snapped and quit. This is a fact several people have confirmed in interviews.
She needed to be aware of the possibility that she was going to be made into a character. Hers was the hot blonde chick.

This cast was actually really interesting and entertaining.....IF you watch the Ponderosa episodes. This season didn't blow my mind otherwise.
I think that Osten was the worst quitter of all time in Surviver. If one wanted to quit, ask your teammates to vote you off instead. And vote for someone that is not going home.

Maybe if they let Purple Kelly have a sweater or jacket, instead of just a tiny dress and bikini, she wouldn't have quit.
The only way Jeff could take me from the game would be like Terry, whose son was very sick (only time a family phone call was ever mentioned in Survivor) and he left the game.
Or like Caleb. Just won the challenge and collapsed from exhaustion. Perhaps the worst medical evac.

NaOnka quit because she wanted the luxuries and creature comforts of home (Evident when she didn't give up the reward for Camp Necessities)
Purple Kelly quit because she was emotionally weak and can't handle the conditions any more.

Imo, they should have "smuffed" the torches and then thrown the torches into the bush, just like naonka and purple kelly threw away their chance to win the game. Seems symbolic.
Did you see the Reunion? On the Reunion, Brenda mentioned that what had been left out of the season was that Naonka knew that Brenda had already been gunning for her when she voted her out.
I don't think either one of them should have been allowed on the jury. They don't have any right to judge anyone!
There was actually some good that came of this. Because of these two, there are now rules put in place that state that if someone quits, they do forfeit their jury place AND their consolation prize. It's considered a violation of their contract. Injuries and that will still get you evac'd though and your spot on the jury depends on your condition.
