Thank you, son, for this incredible experience into another “world”! It was mind blowing for my old brain and eyes! Next time, let me know when your filming me for a TH-cam video and I’ll wear something nicer😂. Your review is SPOT ON! I’m sure that you’ll own the advanced version of this someday!

That last part was marvelous! I think this will not be how we work, or casually communicate in the future, but imagine this in schools?? Being able to teach a kid about fossils or mars and actually putting them there! To see how things are.

I’ve contemplated selling mine. Definitely don’t use it enough to justify the cost… the best part of it for me has been sharing it with other people and watching them react.

I love the mom reactions, but also the fact the super-high-tech Vision Pro is hooked up to an old 4:3 SD CRT TV. haha

Bought it for a week. Yeah, just love a NEW stuff, that's it. Because we don't have any new interesting tech now. Hope the new OS updates could bring some new features, and also it's REALLY freaking heavy thou. I can only have it only less than 10 minutes, that's why can't even finish a movie with AVP. Its a really expensive piece of metal.

I have so many friends who ran out to buy this on day one who now have returned it, or like their vibes, have it sitting on a shelf collecting dust. Yup. My predictions were right. It's dust collecting device.

Wow! So great to see mom in this. What an amazing reaction. Great video. It’s nice to hear something regarding Apple that’s not all gushy. It’s amazing technology, but “why” is a good question for now.

I’m a fan of the thing (I have one and it keeps improving steadily!)
    It’s also a little dystopian. 🤷‍♂️

I like the Quest 3 for watching videos and movies and the occasional game. At $500 I think it’s nice to use a few times a week. I’m not sure if VR will ever really take off. I do like the social aspect of it. You can watch sporting events in groups and act like you’re in the same room.

    • @davidaltizer

$500 is the correct price for a product like this. i bet most people don’t use vision pro enough to justify the expense.

Relax bro it’s first generation product it’s like having a an old chunky tv at the time when people use to listen to the radio. I can see that technology going through updates until in maybe 30 years time it will just be contacts charging with solar power and micro earbuds which will cancel all screens and laptops and tv s and spatial computing will be a part of our life.

People like to bash and find all excuses to do so on a new early device their brain can't comprehend nor used to without the buzz word like "AI"
VR/AR is the greatest tech ever and I'm a very picky tech dude. Nothing impressed me after the pc, I tried Iphone, Ipad, smartwatch, 3d glasses, drones(pretty decent althought not in general used), and pretty much other things.
If you can think logical rather than bashing something you had no idea of, you will see that the device still lack enough apps to showcase what it really can do. Is like PC and Smartphone, it is nothing without software and VR/AR have far better potential than both combined

Then why I can’t find a used one anywhere if it so bad? All I can find are scam. Stupid

It's interesting. I'm the opposite of an Apple apologist, indeed I'd say Apple is the very definition of the emperor's new clothes... with a great deal of shady business practices to boot! But in this case I'm not sure the Vison Pro's issues are in Apple's hands.
I would suggest the root of the Vison Pro's problems as ably demonstrated here are that it's a technology demonstrator. The questions that arise from this demonstrator are, "Is the technology just too immature, will it ever mature, and is this a concept chasing a need that doesn't exist?"
As an aside, on the battery front:
I get the comment that having an attached battery pack feels very like early 'mobile' phones. Sadly the comparison doesn't work because of physics. While phone batteries got smaller as phone electronics got less power-hungry, battery technology hasn't improved that much. That's because there is a fundamental limit to the energy you can pack in to a battery no matter what 'wild' scheme you may propose - I can guarantee anyone who talks about 'breakthrough' battery technology is at best talking about a small incremental improvement, or they are full of sh_t.
Like mobile phones before, where a device like the Vison Pro is concerned the only way to 'shrink' the battery is to drastically reduce it's power consumption... which leads us to two likely insurmountable issues:
We are already getting pretty close to the limits of reducing power consumption for 'traditional' electronics, and any potential replacement still belongs to the realm of fantasy, always assuming physics will allow further massive gains on the power consumption front.
Regardless of what 'magical' technology you may invent the display(s) are going to have to shine sufficient light in to your eyes and that takes a good deal of power. Yes, one might consider 'implants' but that's currently another world of fantasy with it's own rabbit hole of issues we haven't begun to consider.
In short, the Vison Pro is what it is and beyond undoubtedly some much improved packaging it is very unlikely to change much in future iterations.
That was a looong old comment!

The stuff like the dinosaur experience seems like it would be incredible and be very valuable for entertainment... but the fact that some people want to have absurd mundane stuff like floating flat computer windows of iMessage and web browsers everywhere they go makes me lose hope for humanity.

I think you are totally wrong that its the future. Its a future that Apple wants. One of isolation and constant screen time because that equals more profits for them. But its an utterly dystopian idea. And the fact that the public at large has rejected it ....and VR/AR in general......shows that this is not a product people actually want.
Apple's motivations for pushing this terrible product are not to better peoples lives in any way (all evidence being it would only isolate people from each other more) or contribute to society. Apples goal is just to make more money by literally making people spend more screen time because the device is now strapped to your head. Lets stop pretending Apple is some inherent force for good when that simply is not true. Its a giant corporation that like any giant corporation cares most about its profits and stock price.
