How did you determine the spacing between the shelves before securing to the wall?
I laid the decor out on the floor to figure out how I wanted them spaced.

why pocket screws.... you could have mounted the 3" to 3" by going through the back... and the screw head wouldn't be visible... it would be against the wall.
... seems extra work for nothing, and not as esthetically pleasing.
I think their pocket screws were for connecting the 3 inch to 2 inch front lip piece. could always just have the pocket holes facing upward into the shelf, since you cant see them that way either. then do what you're saying from the back 3 inch piece into the bottom 3 inch piece with a regular screw. Wouldn't need the pocket hole filler things this way. Whatever works if you make it work!
Yes, this.... the pocket screws are for connecting that front lip piece so you don't have to patch nail holes on the front of the shelf.
