Adam of No Trades, Mom of All Trades and I brought 9 Animals across 9 states in 55 hours drive time from Seattle to Nashville over Christmas Break! We made the journey across the country with Howdy and Bella, our two miniature donkeys, Dolly Parton, Aretha Franklin, and Brenda Lee our goats, Rigby our farm dog, our two bunnies, and Oliver our farm cat in tow of our 20 year old Toyota 4 Runner. It quite a harrowing journey amidst all kinds of snowstorms and other challenges which extended both the distance and drive time of the journey, we had to stop every four hours to feed and water the animals, and we finally pulled into our new Nashville farm at 3 am on New Year's eve. Hauling livestock across the country is no joke! It was WONDERFUL to start our new year in our new place! When our shipping container arrived with all our stuff, we were so amazed by the welcome we receive, 27 folks we barely knew showed up to help unload and unpack and it was all done in just 2.5 hours! We can't wait to share the next pieces of the adventure with you all!

I almost cried at the part, where about 27 people showed up to help you. You deserve nothing less..
Last year our Ohio community was hit by many tornados which was devastating. However it was stunning how many hundreds of people came out to help strangers. I've always been the one to volunteer and help others but this time I found myself in dire need of help. The groups that helped me took me from a state of despair to one of hope. This generosity is an American and human trait.
I cried. Such a blessing. Excited to see everything you create! AND...all the furbabies.

Hi Ann. We moved house from Central Ontario to small city in south west Newfoundland. We left a large storage locker full behind. We drove an SUV pulling an 8x10 trailer. Car and trailer loaded to the brim, including two cats. Including the ferry it took two days. Experiencing all that how did all you did and in 60 hrs to boot! My hat off to you young lady. May your new adventure live up to all you wish from it and more.

I used to travel all over North America installing automation equipment for the plastic industry and found that the people down South there were the nicest and most friendly folks of anywhere I went. Now add one more.

Do yourself a great service do soil test on the site your planning to make your garden. It will help in not missing what your garden needs for the plants. Good luck and so excited to watch y'all's journey.
Check out my video “fixing your soil.” I don’t actually advocate soil testing because the simple act of paying attention to what’s going on with the soil and the plants around it will provide the “prescription” if you will of what you can do organically to fix it.

When you get your new tractor, I suggest making sure it can lift those big round bales. I know you feed smaller bales right now. Can’t beat the large bales for when you take trips (it will make Adamofnotrades job easier) or just for everyday use.

I paused the video to tell my son how wonderful it was that all those strangers just turned up on your doorstep to help. When I started playing again you said how 27 total strangers just turned up on your doorstep and how you knew you had found the right community. Yup, you sure did. That's fabulous. Wouldn't happen where I live unfortunately. That's absolutely wonderful. Big up to all your new neighbours. What a great welcome for you guys. I feel pretty confident that you are going to have some very happy, wonderful, exciting and fulfilling years ahead of you in your new home. So happy for you (and feeling sorry for you having to leave behind some furry friends too but you get to visit!). Cannot wait to see what you get up to and hopefully some of your helpers will feature in some of your upcoming projects too - it's be good to meet the neighbours.

Congratulations on finishing your move successfully. One thing- I have my tools. I chose them carefully, building some of them. I cannot fathom leaving them for someone else, and starting over. Buying tools is not my hobby, using them is. I look forward to watching you get your place in order. You can build your shop to your liking, and needs.
One opportunity this move gave me was paring down my collection to the tools I actually truly need to do the work I want. I brought my toolchest I’ve carefully cultivated since the first day I started woodworking. I brought a few sentimental items, and left Darrel with everything else that was either extra or easily replaceable. We both won out big time in that way. I had less to pack, and Darrel found himself with some really fun treasures to use.
