The ancient, neolithic people of Ireland had such confidence in the yearly cycle of the sun, that they built their monumental structures to align with the key positions of the suns yearly path.
At Brú na Bóinne, the ancient Irish constructed a tomb to align with the sunrise on the Winter Solstice.
Every year, the shaft of solstice sunlight spectacularly illuminates the chamber of the tomb.
After 5000 years, this fantastic spectacle still creates a sense of awe and wonder.
