So let me see. Hollow Kat represents the sin of betrayal, Hollow Dante represents the sin of envy and Hollow Vergil represents the sin of greed, all of them commited by Vergil, hence throwing him to Hell.
Headcanon accepted!!
Well sought
Is no one gonna talk about how rad the 2D animation looked?! Seriously, imagine a DMC spinoff with that art style.
It has possibilities, but the art and animation in this DLC is pretty bad.
The style is cool, but other than that it's a big no no.
No i won't
It sort of reminds me of the sketchy style used in the PSP Metal Gear games
Nah bro, In animation, you wanna make sure that the shadows and lighting are right cuz if they keep moving to a different place every 3 frames then the audience will be annoyed by the inconsistency and turn off the screen
Looks gross
like it or not without this dmc i don't think we would have had the amazing dmc 5 ...i can see a lot of inspiration was taken from this game and implemented in dmc5

in the original dmc, Vergil wanted power because he wanted to protect his mother, he failed to protect her, he even says to dante....."might controls everything, and without strength, you cannot protect anything." That is why he is so power hungry, because he didnt have enough power back then to save her, he feels like a failure, and he finds reconcile by obtaining more power, or rather his never ending quest for power, no matter the cost....
in this version, he went to save his mother only to break her heart which is alot worse then letting her die or killing her, he hates her and only saved her life just to leave her emotionally destroyed and abondan her there so he can obtain power for himself, and destroying any links from the past, not giving two shits about her.....that, is some 360 BS right there lol

You know (i'm late i know) if that was the direction the story was going for maybe the reboot didn't have to be that bad

Who looks like fucking Edward from the Twilight franchise no less.
Jaja i didn't notice, that's quite a downfall...

Lol! Clever, and so true.
I get your point man, they made an origin for the character and all but you know what, its nothing near original, that way of becoming evil its like he's a parody of some evil anime guy, like -yeah me too whatever... The dmc3 vergil was a proud warrior, and that was his only weakness before dante. Sometimes less is more
I just got into the series with this game, but if Vergil is supposed to be a badass, I think they missed the mark.
I like how by the end he becomes like old Vergil .
You can see it also on : 17:45 "I need more power" .Old Vergil said this in DMC3 also.
I was finally waiting for this to happen.
17:45
I don't think this game is bad. This Vergil isn't just not as bad ass as the old one because he is still YOUNG. He DEVELOPS into the old, badass Vergil. And i love it that they made a game in which they explain how he went "evil". Even if this happens a bit fast in a too short time >.>
ironically enough, this game is the only game that gave our motivated boi his own campaign, with his own story and cutscenes.
This aint vergil, this is vorgil
Capcom's keeping it for the next DMC. Looking at 5 it's clear to say Capcom took inspiration from the reboot, I doubt they don't want to make another Vergil campaign.

This whole thing could have been avoided if Dante didn't jump the gun on Virgil. He said he wanted to rule humanity not enslave them. He should have went along with it, if Virgil turned tyrant then take him out.
Seems now Dante is just going to be protecting a hopeless anarchist humanity.
True ive always said vergil had good intensions with it but he didnt used the right words for it. Wich makes people and dante and kate think he whanted to enslave them.
@@breakingdecks1899 Vergil is meant to be a villain, never a hero. this game turned Vergil into an Anti-Hero.

The Hollow manifestations of the characters weren't mean't to be a homage to the manga Bleach instead they were inspired by the poem "The Hollow Men" by T.S. Eliot
I can't believe people actually thought that, lol.
Could you explain how T.S. Eliots poem fits this?
suburbannegro411 Read it you'll get it, read it and think of Vergil.... "Shape without form, shade without colour,Paralysed force, gesture without motion" It's just like Vergil before he kills his emotions, let's call it like this...Damn the whole poem is like bout Vergil that we see in this DLC :D
Interesting.
I really thought of Bleach
Honestly, after seeing this I wish the reboot had told the story from Vergil's perspective. This version had a lot more to lose.
This is very good..It truly deserve a second series..I'm enjoying so far
Man if only they would have done this for Vergil in DMC5 that would have been so good. The 'Visions of V' manga for Vergil would have done so well in a form like this.
I must be one of the few people who wants the reboot to have a sequel, i wish they could continue both the original and the reboot :(
yeah, I'm with you. I'd go one further and say that the original series ended on a good note. I'd rather they just leave it alone and keep on with the reboot.
Insidious Slowpoke Yes I really enjoyed the game, and I kind of like the new Dante too. It is not fair that some people bash the game without even trying it and sadly because of that probably there wont be a sequel :(
Woozy I dont know about that :/ I want more of the original Dante too, and I think most fans wouldn't want the original series to end yet
Camila Lecaros I think there will be sequel. Or at least some kind of DLC or additional content. I hope. I've read that after DLC developers almost promised to do another part of the game with words such as - we believe that gamers would like to know what's happened next.(and i surely do cuz there is colon in the end of DLC).
I hope so. I'd much rather DmC continue as the prime series and have the the original series go through it's series of HD remakes. They tied it off nicely at the end of 2 and then fleshed it out with 3 and 4.
I like how a simple sword through the chest is enough to kill these whimps. While the originals and Nero who probably had less demon blood in him than Dante and Vergil,
Could take full on multiple impalement, incineration, electrocution, or being crushed under boulders. And shrug it off like it was just Tuesday.
hell yeah, i remember that scene on DMC4 where Nero stick dante's sword in his chest and he's like nothing happened
***** ha dude that happened to dante all the time and it was always his sword lol
Vergil took quite a beating before the stab. And a sword to the chest was enough to down Dante after the first fight with Vergil.
And earlier in the game Dante almost had his heart ripped out, he fell 150 or more stories into concrete, took assault rifle bullets like snowflakes.
I hope one of they 3 dmc games come out
That' because Ninja Theory powered them down. Japan has a habit of making its characters too strong. I like the original series fine, but there was no tension of any sort when they are basically invincible.
19:04 "We're one and the same!"
Funny, this was pretty much quoted in DMC5 by V, right before stabbing his demon half and merging with him
Also V's design was inspired by this virgils facial features
He said she was useful to their cause. He never said he didn't care about her. He never said he wanted to hurt or harm humanity in any way. He wanted to enslave them, yes, but he also wanted to protect them. He wanted to turn the world into a monarchy, with him and Dante being the kings, but he wasn't planning on hurting anyone, he just wanted to protect them, guide them. Dante only fought him because he believed in humanity's freedom. Vergil tried to save Kat because she was still his friend.
Poor Vergil...
When sadness turns out to be too much and hurt you... You will start hating to save your heart.
Vergil must have been incredibly sad to become like this.

You know nothing of me or my ideals. My power is far greater then this poser to quote my true brother.
Huh. So Vergil doesn't know the difference between 'then' and 'than,' and has no idea how commas work. I did not know that.
Actually, both have the goal for power but with different ideals.
DMC3 Vergil wants to obtain power because he wasn't strong enough to protect his mother, so the power is a way to fix the void in his heart. He wants the power to destroy demons. Dante just happens to be in the way of his goals so he fights back but doesn't intend to kill his brother, just moves him away. This Vergil still clings to emotions because he still has that love for his family, but blocks them to not get in the way
DmC Vergil wanted power to control over humans to protect them as their savior but seemed wrong to control the humans lives in the eyes of Dante. Afterwards, he wanted to gain power in the need to feel powerful and leave his weak self, abandoning emotions with it, meaning he has no attachment to anyone in he cared for before. This Vergil may be more powerful later on as he now has control of the demons.
Both have the same vibe but are entirely different and in my opinion great characters

The artistic design of this particular part of the game is just like Alice's Madness Returns. The kind of psyche memories, comic story-telling style, and more the gameplay kind of! Floating in air and the way objects build up the way. :) Love both no matter what. I actually liked this more than the actual DmC base game. Vergil is a character that needs to be more explored. It would be better if they instead of doing a reboot, they would do a story explains the downfall of Vergil-but in accordance to the original series. It would give this new company a way to create a different side story in the same universe but not mess up an already good old story. :/
I so love the animation in this

The moment you realize Vergil is STILL out there in a demon-human hellscape that Dante and him unwittingly created by killing Mundus.
Bittersweet ending, indeed.
The Brothers Are actually equally powerful. Vergil found his full power/potential and became strong as fuck. Now it's dante's turn more or less. But it depends on how they use their prowess. The user of the Weapon is always the strongest
Remember when people thought that DmC was in fact DMC 5?
Back in the dark days, when NT gave us no lock on
Good thing the DMC 5 we have now is better than this
@@superik408 Like this one more than 5 honestly.
Apparently, no one realized that his second demonic personality had messed with his brain. The beginning of anger came from the fact that in his opinion Dante had betrayed him. But the subsequent events are just a manipulation of his second personality. Obviously, Eve, his mother, loved him as much as Dante did. Initially, he didn't even think about it, but it was after the words of the devastated Virgil that he began to wind it all up. He is not an offended person, he is just a victim of the manipulations of the demonic side, which took advantage of Dante's "betrayal".
I feel like Vergil should be the Older Brother because he is much more mature and his voice is older than Dante's...
Actually Vergil is the older brother
He would only be younger by a few seconds. They are twins. Doesnt make him inferior.
Wow wow wow!!! shut all of you up!
First: Dante and Vergil are twins soooooo, neither of them is older than the other (or a few seconds near that).
Secondly: Nero was born of the rest of Nero Angelo (Vergil corrupted). He is younger because he just have a part of the Nero Angelo's power. The soul of Vergil help him and take care of him through Yamato.

I myself (while not a huge fan of their new looks and voices) enjoy the new DmC. And after seeing the Vergil's downfall story, I appreciate this game for at least keeping Vergil's lust for power. This gave a better touch of what Old Vergil went through( Vergil was always my favorite between the two) and how he came to be the man he was. As a huge fan of the old DmC vs. the reboot, I say it's good. Still can't get with the new looks, but I'd play this
Nice video
I feel like this reboot should’ve painted Vergil as a hero and Dante as a villain in this rebooted, it would’ve been interesting
the link is a fanfic of dante and vergil switching place its good
How is it that almost everyone misspells Vergil's name?
Am I the only one who noticed that Vergil's armband thing changes through the course of the dlc? It starts off as blue, then after he kills hollow Vergil it goes white, and in the scene with the demons at the end it looks sorta greenish?
Honestly, when they talk about this Dante in the story, they make him sound like he was a great and very inspirational person, while in fact he is just a douche that swears a lot and that also say random flat and vulgar jokes almost the whole time. Honestly, Virgil's story would have been better if this ver of Dante was actually that awsome many other chars make him out to be. Other then that, this Virgil is a lot more likeable (not as badass as the original tho).
sara ali Because he didn't look like a fedora-wearing ponce who would shoot a pregnant woman in the back and didn't have aspirations of world domination under the pretense of "protecting" people.
***** You just listed the things he wasn't, not what he was. That's not how you describe a character.
I do like the old Virgil, and I don't deny he's badass, but I don't think he's nearly as unique as everybody hype him up to be. He's the typical cold hearted, power-hungry anti hero who still has a soft spot for one person (his brother).
sara ali
Even tho his brother was that 1 person he never show his weak side to.... Not to mention the multiple attempts he did to kill him...
Zetto Vii Hm? What 'weak" side? I don't consider expressing emotion to be a sign of weakness, and I honestly don't think very highly about characters who view their emotions in this way. You're not much of a badass to me if you ignore or repress your human emotions because you're too scared to deal with them. Buuut I guess it's more justified in Virgil's case? since he's only half human and his resentment for humans is rooted more on their inferior physical strength rather on their human emotions.
sara ali What I meant with "weak side" is not necessarily all of his emotions.... I just meant those parts where he is vulnerable and/or is insecure about something.... You know, emotional states that are easily exploitable..... Which is something Virgil seems to cover completely (with an extra thick poker face whenever he faces his brother).
So I would hardly say that he has a soft spot for Dante.
The game is unique and pretty good actually. Wish they would make the 2nd though.
666 dislikes...
Hmmm.
...anyway...
I really liked this DLC.
DmC as a whole has its flaws, but this was really enjoyable. I'm aware it's not perfect, and that many people hate the new Virgil (and the new Dante, and pretty much every other character in the reboot) but this particular story was really interesting to me, and got me to better like this version of Virgil.
It really made me feel for Virgil, and allowed to empathize with him more. Many people liked him better as a cold, cruel villain, and I can understand that, but I like his new version's characteristics just as much, because he feels more dynamic and 3 dimensional. He feels more "human", which adds another level considering his condescending views of humanity.
I felt sorry for him because he sort of "became" a villain, even though he was just misguided and truly meant well, and didn't mean to become one. He's shown as being somewhat regretful of how he treated Kat, as he's shown trying to save her (keeping in mind that all of this takes place in his psyche), and remorseful of losing Dante's trust, while at the same time also feeling spiteful for them both "turning their backs on him".
After struggling with these feelings while killing his projections of Kat and Dante, he also struggles with the fact that he loved his mother, but felt that she didn't love him back equally, symbolised with him saving her, only to then hurt and abandon her, just as he felt abandoned. And finally, after going through all of this, he effectively just snapped and turned completely sociopathic, killing his own "self" just for more power. This, to me, felt like a very melancholy (but competent) character story, showing Virgil's fall from grace, struggling with how he felt about it, and how it eventually drove him completely mad.
Again, I realize that it's not perfect, but I just wanted to explain why I thought it was good.
K-Blue this dlc is in fact psychology 101, a basic explanation of the way how depression makes people turn darker, edgier and then completely insane.
Vergil was never just a cruel villian,
I agree with this completely.
13:04 It reminds me scene of Devil may cry 3 when Vergil kills dante with his own sword (rebellion) and takes away his medallion
Playing this dlc made me realize how deep his character really was. Good game.

I agree
How is this a downfall its an up rising more like
They're going with the Dante's Inferno approach (The book, not the game) in which the protagonist (Vergil in this case) takes a trip through Hell itself on a journey of enlightenment and atonement. At least that was the lesson Vergil was supposed to learn the twist is he didn't learn anything and used the experience to further swell in power.

Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised with the direction this game took. It's more current and even more plausible, where demons hide incognito, controlling humans through the hypnotizing slavery of media. Because isn't that how we are now? With the near dependency of electronics and escapism we find in television and other virtual mediums?
Dante & Vergil were redesigned to something refreshing yet still maintained their traditional elements. I adored the voice acting, the tones more realistic.
I love Vergil so, why? Why Vergil? I love you and all you needed was to understand humans. Dante does care about you (And I think Kat has a Crush on you or had). You just pissed him when you said all that going to rule shit.
This is actually quite interesting.
This look outstanding
I enjoyed the vergil dlc... I couldn't play DmC without getting some virgil gameplay in. I always preferred the dynamic and emotional internal battle that Vergil has. Vergil was always cooler in the fact that he's more human than Dante. It shows the dynamics of his internal struggle and desire for power being his main driving force and how it derails him from his good intentions.
Every time I see comments arguing about the "Hollow" thing, I just keep thinking Dark Souls. (Love that game.

"While thy branches mix with mine, and our roots together join."
Anyone else realize that Dante said he was the big brother but like in the original I thought it was Vergil who was the oldest and ik this was a reboot Im just speaking my mind
i just hope that they make another game like this
DANTE IS ALWAYS MY FAVOURITE CHARACTER IN ALL DMC SERIES
Nice name tho
Actually, the conversation between Dante and Vergil in mission 18 led up very subtly to his motives-that he went to hacking (and got incredibly good at it) because it gave him a sense of control. He got so good, in fact, that he was decoding algorithms in seconds.
Obsessed much? I'd say so. He even explicitly said that he hacked BECAUSE it gave him control, and for him to do it so much that he could decode quantum algorithms like it's nothing...
Someones embraced the darkness.
I love that game
Why does it look like Nelo Vergil have cracked facial cream on?
As much as I am against the reboot and would like to see the original continue, except for the Bleach ripoff I think this right here is a pretty good representation of hell Vergil is going through here. It systematically destroys his mind
Bleach rippoff?
nibink
Yes, Hollow Vergil is a copy of Hollow Ichigo from Bleach. The protagonist Ichigo has an evil version of him inside him with the exact same colors. Also the area you fight him in looks like a place from Bleach.
Aaah right, I get your response now
I saw it and loved it. I am a huge Bleach fan. Lol
***** They even refer to him as "Hollow Vergil."
And thats how the vergil we've grown to know and love was crated.
"I'm free now, father." Great line :D
And suddenly crowly shows up saying : hello boys 😂😂😂
Vergil haves a Zanpaktou!
indeed...it was my first dmc game and the whole time through I wondered where the angels' at?
Pretty much the entire time I was watching this I was internally screaming, "NUUUU MY BBY!"
