Volvo Penta has been changing the world of boating engines and marine lifestyle since the founding in 1907 when it released a 3hp engine. In 1959 Volvo Penta made history when the Aquamatic stern drive was released. This truly made Volvo Penta the boat world’s most innovative company.
After the Aquamatic stern drive, the culture of marine innovation continued in the company with successes such as the duo prop, which uses two propellers on the same shaft. The history of boat engine technology was again transformed with Volvo Penta’s IPS, where propellers are facing forward and steering is controlled with a joystick.
