    *If you find yourself with an extra metal connector*
    1:58 The black cover over the #24 and #25 screw is shown being removed with the *metal connector* stuck to the underside of it. The metal connector is actually screwed in by #25 screw but is shown being removed before #25 screw is removed.
    5:50 If you look closely, you can see that the *metal connector* is still stuck to the back of the black cover. It is now being placed on top of the #25 screw, which should be holding it down. You can see him pushing down on it because it is sticking up and he doesn't realize why.

    2:03 #14 screw position
    5:06 #14 screw is labeled incorrectly and replaced in a different position
    (original #14 screw not shown being replaced in the correct hole. The place where the #14 screw goes is for a screw not shown being accounted for. Honest mistake I'm sure, but wanted to clarify this as I am in the process of following along with the video.)
    1:58 Cover over #24 and #25 screw shown being removed with the metal connector attached to it. Metal connect is actually screwed in by #25 screw but is shown being removed before #25 screw is removed.
    5:50 You also show that you are now putting back the black cover, with the metal connector still attached, and *on top* of the screw that is supposed to be holding it down. (This is probably why you are pushing on it with your finger because it is resting on top of the screw supposed to be securing it down.)
    2:32 You do a great job showing the removal of attached connectors. Unfortunately, this one is edited in such a way that you remove the sim card holder without showing you disconnecting it first. After I replayed this part again, I noticed it was edited out by mistake. The video shows it connected and then the next frame shows it being disconnected.

    • @paulweston8184
      @paulweston8184 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It is. How much soldering do you have to do? None, all electrical connections are pressure fitted. How many times do you have to flip the phone on it's side or front to work on it from a different angle? None. The phone can be completely disassembled while laying on it's back. How many moving parts are there? None. How many springs, pressure fitted retaining clips, or moving parts to ensure are properly operational? None. All parts are screwed in and stationary. How many expensive specialty tools do you need? None. A 5 dollar hobby screwdriver set and the suction cup from your shower loofah. But why so many tiny parts and screws? How many screws does your home computer have... including the monitor? Tiny though? Do you want to walk around with a phone the size of a toaster?

      @@paulweston8184 I had the IPhone SE and replaced the charging port three times myself over the four years I owned it. (I’m a metal worker. Small metal particles are hell on your electronics)
      To replace the charging port was 9 screws and three pressure fittings. What this is showing is in fact ridiculous. There’s no reason to have to remove everything to access one of the most commonly serviced parts.

    Nice video, but two of my triple-zero screws are stripped, while two others dropped on the floor. I'm praying my issue is the charging port. I ordered more screws and tequila to get through this insane operation. I refuse to pay $400 for Best Buy to do this. I bought a new 14 plus but I just need to try and turn this phone on to get my pictures, phone contacts, and other data.

    • @chadmccollister728
      @chadmccollister728 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say that yes it is possible, though I have yet to experience it first hand. I have however seen a bad charging port caused from liquid entering the charge port while phone was powered on cause total boot failure and the phone to be 100% non-responsive 24 hours after liquid contact. A new charge port resolved the issue. You can test the charging port on a non-responsive XR by simply unplugging the charge port from the logic board and trying to boot up the device with the charge port unplugged. Obviously this will only work if the battery has some charge in it though. I will add also that the wireless charging function did work briefly after the charge port had totally failed.

    • @chadmccollister728
      @chadmccollister728 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@youaintgottheanswerssway1594 Sometimes this can be resolved by using 91% isopropyl alcohol in the port and cleaning it with an old toothbrush and make sure that the lightning cable is fully seating in the bottom of the port. Sometimes pocket lint can get compacted into the bottom of the port and it will not allow the cable to fully seat. Jiggling or pushing on the cord to get it to work is many times a symptom of stuff packed into the bottom of the port. I use a needle bent into an tiny "L" shape or hook at the tip to dig out stuff from customers ports all the time. Make sure the phone is powered off if you do this and avoid touching the gold pins inside the port. I would say 75% of the time people come to my shop with charging port issues, it's simply junk jammed into the bottom of the port and it's so compacted that its hard to realize its just rock hard compressed pocket lint!
