    I am a French guy and I just love this guy. Great sense of humor and so talented in making those cigarbox guitars. If there is any way for me to buy one of those and ship it to France, that would be just awesome. I would be so proud to own one.

    Spent .22 casings make great string ferrules. And the weathered ones I find at the range look great on distressed cbg's.

    Hey Michael, i was just wondering which strings you use for the open tunings, so tjat they stay in tune propperly. Do you buy just a 6 string set or are there specialised ones for these tunings? And when will you do the video about the string hieght, i'd still love to see that. Keep these great videos up and stay safe.

      Hey Eugen, I use bronze wound strings, size .040 .030 .022 usually. But, you can use the first 3, or the middle 3 from a 6 pack of strings, all depending what you like. Yes, I do want to do that video. M~

    hey mike, 1st off great stuff as always. i was wondering, is there a way to get those shells without buying a box and shooting them off somewhere? i'm not much for guns tbh...hey maybe that could be something to sell on your website. just a thought. ;)

      You can buy used shells online. I used to reload my 12ga and always bought once-fired shells. Forgot the website though, should be a few. Guys pick em up at ranges, clean em, it's a small business.

      @@ronmiller7916 yea my dad used to do that but i never paid much attention to it. i just assumed he was just replacing the pin in old ones and reloading them. somebody could probably make a few bucks turning them into guitar knobs tho.

    Mike, built 3 cbg's so far, the 2nd had a neck of 6 laminated Home Depot yard sticks, strong. I like the oak but not sure how to fill the grain of it, especially with changes in humidity I'd want to make sure that grain can't be felt as time goes on. How do you seal the grain of oak?

    • @SouthernFireGuitars
      @SouthernFireGuitars  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds cool, with the yard sticks. The oak, I just keep sanding it, until I can't feel the grain.

    • @brianking5092

      When using a clear finish on oak, like what Mike says, you just have to keep sanding and applying finish. I had to put about 12 coats of Danish oil with the wet oil sanding to make one smooth. I quit all that nonsense. I now just use 2 coats of poly and live with the little "tickle" of the grain as my hand slides up and down the neck. I live in a humid area and two coats of poly seems to work fine. The wood is not moving or warping after 2 years.
