Her power appears to be reality bending by gaslighting.
Which makes sense, considering she is the Witch of Vanity.
That's like the most vile, disgusting power imaginable. She CONSTANTLY gaslights people and bends reality to fit her narrative. It's literally Vanity manifested.

I realize that most people who react to the anime can't understand it very well and the show itself doesn't make a point of explaining in so many words which I think is good, but basically Pandora's power would be something like rewriting reality. I say this based on my general knowledge of anime and what I interpreted from the anime, any other conclusion that could be correct I think only someone who read the light novel could confirm.

19:03 First of all, the translations often say that Emilia is the daughter of “the Witch,” but in Japanese, they are not saying “the.” “Majo no musume” just means “daughter of a witch,” so her mother could be any witch. For it to be “the” Witch, they would have to say, “ANO majo no musume” (the daughter of THAT witch). Secondly, it’s unlikely that Emilia is the daughter of Satella, because Emilia is half elf, half human. Satella is half elf, half human. Emilia father was an elf (older brother to Fortuna), so if her mother was Satella, Emilia would be three quarters elf (unless the father was also half elf, half human… but what are the chances of that?).

no, the most probable thing that is handled before those words of Echidna is that she calls her “daughter of the witch” because like satella she is half elf and for the other characteristics that she shares with a witch, she has caused a great calamity and has a lot of power besides having a twisted personality that is to trust everyone, her sin would be naivety or something like that.

@@seisuketoshirohitsugaya8299 it’s going by the 7 deadly sins and the 2 ancient ones. Naïveté doesn’t really exist, unless we r going by Apothecary Diaries logic where ignorance is a sin lol. Then maybe her sin could be ignorance.
Her personality isn’t twisted enough to be sinful tho. Esp in comparison to the other witches. Her backstory could’ve left her twisted tho, she somehow survived decently, somewhat cuz of Echidna.

    • @chelronin7843

i honestly think emilia might be echidnas daughter but thats just me.
roswaal apparently will never end up with echidna as stated by tappei, only makes sense if she was with someone else. Echidna has “mothered” multiple characters up until now. Beatrice, Puck, Ryuzu, and a few characters shown later on.
Echidna was oddly specific with Beatrice, referring to her as “like a daughter” but its weird to specify that.
And Echidna in greek mythology is literally the “mother of monsters” which is probably the inspiration behind her creating so much life in the story.
Finally, Minerva said she knows her mother very well and this still works for Echidna since Minerva and Echidna were the closest out of any of the witches. It would still make sense she met with her. She also says “some of her evil schemes actually work out”, when Emilia said Fortuna was her real mother. This implies that Echidna at LEAST had some hand in Emilias early life, her being “protected” was likely put together by Echidna as some contingency plan. When you consider that Emilia also gets involved with multiple people who had a close relationship with Echidna (the entire Roswaal mansion basically) its very apparent that Echidna know of Emilia and even tries to protect her
To further this, the Echidna we know in this season is a “fake” Echidna. Dream world Echidna. She hates Emilia and this would make sense if shes somewhat jealous of her for being a real daughter to Echidna. She started crying when Emilia said she would “live in the world her mother loved”, this omly really makes sense if what Emilia said in the 2nd trial hit her personally.
Its a bit of a crackpot theory, theres stuff to disprove it. But i still think it might be true. Minerva felt like a bit of a red herring. Echidna was also an excellent magic user and so is Emilia.

    • @BelBelle468
      @BelBelle468 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@chelronin7843 Hot take: women don’t need to fall in love and have children.
Ryuzu wasn’t birthed by Echidna. Echidna never refers to Ryuzu as a daughter. Beatrice is “like a daughter” is because Beatrice isn’t biologically related since she is a spirit. Puck is also a spirit. Echidna doesn’t need a man to create a spirit.
Echidna created puck, who then went to protect Emilia. So while she could’ve hand a hand in keeping her safe, I don’t see why Echidna would hate her own daughter. We already know Pandora was involved in her parent’s fate and Echidna shows no emotion or recognition when Pandora appears either. I actually heard that Satella and Minerva was close actually, not Echidna. And I heard Minerva was the one associated with the elves and lost her life trying to protect them by being trapped. Of course, some of this information is hard to come by due to the side content being very inaccessible to English readers.
Minerva just fits more overall. Emilia and Minerva are physically buff, are buffed in the chest department, generally have a more caring personality, etc. Echidna isn’t like that, she’s weak physically and canonically has tiny boobs, besides being a sociopath.

    Some quick info:
Emilia can't be Satella's daughter because her mother is human and father is an elf. She got her hair and eyes from her father according to Fortuna, so her father is an elf with silver hair and amethyst eyes like Fortuna(he's her brother). If you assume it's her mother who's the witch then her mother is a human.
Human and witch isn't contradictory, witches can be any species. Obviously Satella is a half elf and a witch, Echidna is also unless there's something we find out later a human and a witch, as is Typhon, and although this is kiiiind of spoilers but irrelevant to literally any material since it only really matters in a cutoff chapter, Sekhmet the witch of sloth is actually a giant(a small one xD). I have no idea what species Daphne is given her appearance but we can say maybe a demihuman of some sort? And Minerva, Carmilla and Pandora(maybe not - we can't really tell) are both seemingly human.
So that actually leaves Typhon, Minerva, Echidna, Carmilla and Pandora as the possibilities. And we can rule out Pandora obviously lmao. So Typhon, Carmilla, Minerva and Echidna(probably not Echidna but fuck knows?)
Honestly the bigger question for me is WHEN DID THEY HAVE KIDS! But never mind. I'm just saying the witches didn't have the easiest lives to find time for it.

It was mentioned there was a witch who was a vampire like Elsa so if we say a unrelated Demi human as well that’s 3 humans not 4 and tappei has said echidna has no blood related children so only 2 or 3 possible ones can’t say which two though since it’s just “a witch was a vampire 400 years ago” and doesn’t specify which one (again assuming that daphne is demi human and not a normal human)

OK, time for me to fanboy over how well done Pandora was handled in these two episodes.
The show managed masterfully to make her really intimidating and memorable while feeling very distincr from all the other villains in the show.
How did they do that? By portraying her very alien and always fully in control.
The alienness is shown in nearly every aspect of her. Her design, her gestures, her words.
Her Design is very distinct from all the others in reZero. Pandora wears a plain white blanket with a blue string and ribbon. Her Hair and skin are while slightly different are also pretty much white and her eyes are blue like her ribbon. This contrasts the otherwise very extravagant deigns in the show. Otto for example only wears a mantel, a hat and regular clothes but they are accentuated by the symbol and feathers on his hat, the yellow stripes and ornaments as well as his red ribbon. Subaru only wears a black and white tracksuit but it is accentuated with orange and an N logo on his chest alongside the fact that a tracksuit is already very out of place in this world. Emilia like most other female characters in the show wears a dress, but they are all very distinct to eachother through intricate ornaments and accessoires. Emilia for example has elongated sleeves, frils, the goldene Lugunica emblem, her green crystal, the white rose and hairpin in her hair etc.
Pandora on the other hand only wars a blanket and a ribbon, very plain and simplistic.
This is further exemplified by her mainly white colorscheme with blue accents, so in total two colors. Every other ReZero character I know has at loeast two main colours and one accent colour, so three in total. Subaru has Black&White with orange, Emilia White&Purple with green, Priscilla Black&Red with orange, even Puck has Grey&White with purple. Additionally her contrast is very low. Nearly 50% of the cast has a Black&White or Purple&White contrast and the rest mixes light colors with dark ones (Priscilla, Al, Otto) or have dark clothing but light skin (Roswaal, Petelgeuse, Elsa). Pandora is pretty much pure white, giving her a a kind of glowy aura and making her seem nearly angelic.
Onto her mannerism. Similarly to her character design it is very simplistic. She barely moves at all and never changes her expression. This contrasts heavily with the other characters. During nearly every Dialogue we get tons of close ups to see the characters contorted expressions or wide shots to show their posture, especially Subaru is really expressive. The same holds true for her voice, she stays in the keeps the same tone while other characters put all their feelings and emotions into their voice and are very pronounced and loud. Pandora is always calm never showing anything.
Lastly her words. At first they might seem like human words but the more you try to understand what she is actually sayning or praising the more you see how inhuman it truly is. When Fortuna dies she imidiately asks Emilia to open the seal since she isnt bound by the promise anymore. This not only shows her complete lack of understanding of human emotions but also of the meaning of things like promises. Though this apathy is less like Echidnas lack of empathy and more like the demons in Frieren. Pandora knows the dictionary definition of words and what effect they have but does not understand their meaning at all.
She is like an Alien species with a completely different set of values and emotions that tries to fit in on earth.
Now onto the sense of control she exudes.
This is caused mainly through interaction and camera work.
The moment she appears Petelgeuse and Fortuna pretty much give us the reaction that we are supposed to have: Shock, fear and even rage.
Her position is further amplified when one of the strongest characters in the show, Regulus, bows to her and follows her commands.
It is momentarily taken away when she is obliterated by Regulus but immidiately reinstalled when she returns unscathed and completely dominates him.
This return also marks the beginning of the audience starting to understand Pandoras true terror. The moment when she writes Regulus out of the scene she not only returns him and the ground to before anything happend but also cuts off the music. This not indicates that her powers reach even into our 4th dimension. Pandora doesnt just rewrite the reality in the show, she rewrites the show itself. From here on it only gets worse. No matter how often or violently we kill Pandora, she always returns unhurt and remains calm and undisturbed. IT gives us a feeling that anything done against her is futile and meaningless, like throwing rocks in the ocean. But not only that, her calm words send our characters into rage, her illusions make them hurt and kill eachother and her authority makes it so that only what she desires stays true. And even when her wish is denied at the end she still remains calm and screws over our characters a bit more as a bonus. Pandora appeared and caused the freezing of the elves, the 100 years coma of Emilia, the death of Archie and Fortuna and Petelgeuse descend into madness. And to make it worse all of that without actively doing anything, everything that happened happened because the characters mainpulated by her words and illusions did it to eachother and themselves. Even literally she pretty much does not move at all. She stands around most of the time and when she moves she does it slowly and without hurry while everyone else is send into a frenzy. The camera furthermore suggests how everything is under her controle by subtly always moving towards her when she appears in a frame with someone else putting her into the focus at all times.
She by all means truly is a walking calamity.
To make all of this even better, all her attributes play perfectly into her sin of vanity.
Vanity has multiple different meanings depending on the context.
First is idleness or Vainglory, an excessive believe in ones beauty and superiority, seeing oneself as the centre of everything. This is examplified by her glowy aura, her prioritising her own goals above everyone elses and the camera constantly trying to put her in the centre. Additionally reality itself seemingly bends to her will. Her having a very white design might also show that she views herself as pure and without sin, a perfect being.
Than there is emptiness or hollowness. Everything she says, every emotion or notion she tries to express, all of it is hollow as she does not even seem to understand the meaning of emotions, promises or love at all. They are all twisted into her own selfabsorbed definition of them making them nothing but empty word sleeves. Even actions such as Petelgeuses self sacrifice becomse a hollow ideal as he kills the one he loves and succumbs to his supposed secret weapon, the sloth with factor. Her design also acts as a reprensantation of that. She is pure white, lacking all color.
Third are illusion and conceit. All her words are meant to deceive and she literally creates illusions. This furthermore plays into hollowness as illusions are nothing more than empty reality.
Last is futility (something being in vain). Nothing you do against her has any effect. All attempts to stop her are futile.
Thus in the presence of this sin everything loses meaning and contorts to her disturbed sense of self, that is the true terror of Pandora, the Witch of Vanity.

What you said about Echidna made me realize how similar and different she is to Pandora. Echidna and Pandora don’t understand things, but the reason why Echidna feels less malicious is cuz her desires (mostly) hinge on consent. She will lie to get what she wants but she does seem to care somewhat about others and see them as worth her time and care. Whereas Pandora doesn’t. Echidna doesn’t understand but fakes normalcy and doesn’t see the consequences of her actions, she only focuses on her curiosity. And that includes wondering how other people handle things. Pandora just wants control. She is interested, but she also doesn’t care to actually understand.

Ahhhhhhh this episode is soooo good. It doesnt have the incredible shock factor of S1 Ep15 but it intertwines the story so well. This show is a master of showing without context and when you receieve the context the pieces fall in place in a way not only unexpected but in a way where there is so much subtext to discover a hundred more pieces.
Betelguese is such a fascinating character and for him to be the lynch pin of so many story plots is a mastercraft of storytelling. The connection to the sage Flugel, the assumption of his age (which seems to be at minimum 400 years) his abilities as a spirit which begs who's body is this?!?, his diligence directly opposing the authority of Sloth and the sin he feels indebted for. So many questions!
    Also...
Divinity is done so very interesting in this show. Pandora in most shows would be considered a perfected being close to divine embodiment, yet we are absolutely petrified of the "alien" she seems to be. Shes not human or if she is she is so far removed its in likeness alone. The subtext of authorities and divine blessings is so well intertwined and the secret bombshell that Otto is unforseen in the tome of wisdom leads to so many more questions about the limitations and abilities of the blessings and authorities.
And of course... Who is Emilia's parents? What did they seal? Where does this power that seems to rival or even exceed Puck come from?!?! Man oh man its just soooo good.

    Nagatsuki-sensei's livetweets/trivia for this episode.
Nagatsuki Tappei (Author of Re:Zero) likes to tweet as the episode airs. They usually include trivia and facts around that episode.
    Rough translation:
Last time, Archi was taking Emilia with him to help her get away, but before they left the forest, if Pandora's group were to accomplish their goal...... on those two branching paths, she chose to return. The ones supporting her in this were the lesser spirits who have been helping her break out of prison and such.
"Dig up the entire forest (deep meaning)
I have to open it somehow, is what Emilia is thinking desperately. Naturally, she doesn't know how to open it, nor does she know where the key is located. If she doesn't say she'll do it, she doesn't know what will happen to Fortuna and Geuse. Frightening.
The promise with Fortuna, to not open the seal. Emilia chose to keep that promise. This choice carves the significance of "keeping promises" even more deeply into Emilia. The results of Emilia keeping this promise led to the events that occurred in this forest, after all.
From what Fortuna and Geuse are aware of, it's sort of like Pandora said "I have an engagement elsewhere, so please excuse me.", and she ran off to the seal. Perhaps it's like they split up to search the forest for Pandora.
It's like that with the situation being what it is, but if you were to properly listen to everything Pandora says, perhaps only the things that she says make sense. Although Regulus might seem like that too.
The difference between what Geuse saw, and what actually occurred. You only "misunderstood what you were seeing".
Matsuoka-san here, where you can see the signs of Geuse changing into Petelgeuse, that's an amazing performance. You can see where he begins to go insane. I'm sure everyone else could hear it, too.
Fortuna's words that seem delirious. What was she entrusted with by Emilia's parents, what promises did they exchange, it's still quite a ways in the future before we know the details, but her story ends here, doesn't it......
Pandora-sama doesn't understand the human heart.
The reason that Emilia views promises so seriously: the greatest part of it is here, you see.
Forgetting this memory, with only her body growing as she was frozen, a little time after she was awoken by Puck, that's the story of the film "Frozen Bonds". Being found there by Roswaal, leaving the forest to become a candidate in the Royal Selection... that's the main story.
In the end, Echidna just wants to be sarcastic.
"War makeup for a battle that cannot be lost." If Roswaal is following that jinxed thought, then Roswaal always wearing makeup means that Roswaal always sees himself as being in battle. Being unable to let down his guard in front of Subaru is his lonely fight.
Even though he originally brought Otto along to "Introduce you to Roswaal", Subaru never mentioned a single thing about him. If not for Subaru's carelessness, arc four would have been a stalemate, if things had gone poorly.
If you hold close to the idea that "Isn't it the job of the main heroine to set the protagonist back on his feet when he's having trouble?", then in the story called Re: Zero, the protagonist is Emilia, and the heroine is...... (Subaru?)
About the "Prophecy of the Throne" that was playing in commercials, the author put a fair amount of effort into supervising, so I think it's turned into a fairly interesting story! If you don't mind, please send me your thoughts! I don't know how to beat it, so I can't help with that! (here he talks about the game that was launched on those days.)
So with that, having an opening but of course no commercials this week either, thanks for joining us. Emilia's past, Fortuna's end, and the reason that Geuse became Petelgeuse... Many things happened, and carrying that weight, Emilia moves forward. Do your best, Emilia! Don't lose to Echidna's badmouthing!

I just wanted to say this one little thing that was already said before from Mother Fortuna in the beginning when her and young Emilia were talking in the hut. So Fortuna is elven of course because of the ears, she told Emilia that she has the same features (ears, hair) of her brother, and kind eyes like her mother. So because Emilia is half elf. That means her mother is NOT an Elf, that would be her Dad, her mom is human but is a Witch. So Satella can’t be the mother. She’s either than same as Emilia or just full Elf. Anyways yeah you’ll find out eventually in next episodes.

Yeah, what's currently called the witch's cult seems to have been divided between moderate and extremist factions in the past, and Geuse was leader of the moderate faction. Then Geuse took in the sloth witch factor, which from diialogue is inferred to have been entrusted to Geuse by Flugel, to combat Regulus and Pandora, although he wasn't fully compatible with it (possibly due to his diligent nature).
Then, Pandora simply created an illusion where Fortuna appeared as Pandora to Geuse (like she appeared momentarily as Emilia to Fortuna). This killed Fortuna, pushed Geuse over the edge (effectively dissolving the moderate faction into the extremist wing), and "freed" Emilia from her promise.
    Although Emilia held to it

People who still think satella is emilia's mother have been watching re zero with their eyes closed. Satella is madly in love with subaru and she literally says "For so long i have been loving only you". Also she literally kills emilia to warn subaru to not tell others about rbd. If she was her mother then thats awkard. Not to mention they literally tells us in 1st trial that emilia's father is full elf whose features(hair and emerald eyes) emilia inherited and emilia's mom is human.
Satella is half elf just like emilia so at this point satella=emilia makes much more sense(Yeah i know author says otherwise but he flip flops too much), as it would make sense for satella to kill emilia to make sure subaru doesn't tell about his greatest strength "rbd" to others as it would be disadvantageous. Also she would know how much he loves emilia/satella and seeing him die for her reinforces her guilt and hence her saying i love you over and over again. Emilia literally says she gets hurt seeing subaru getting himself hurt over her sake. It would also explain the parallels where satella tells subaru "i love you" over and over while telling him to love himself cause others do care about him and the part where emilia and subaru kiss where subaru does the same thing while telling her that her precious feeling are in her memories implying that fortuna/guese/elf villagers loved her despite her thinking that no one loved her.

We know for a fact that Emilia is not Satella’s daughter right? Since Satella was an Alf-elf her daughter can’t be an Alf-elf, also, Fortuna said that Emilia took her hair and eyes color form her father and only the facial features from her mother. So, if she is the witch’s daughter she must be the daughter of another witch.

yeah, Sekhmet is a giant and satella is a half-elf, so they're out.
Hector and Pandora are unknown. the other 5 witches are humans.
Apparently there were also previous generations of witches.
What's clear is that Minerva, Echidna, Satella, and Emilia are all closely connected.

When you want to know someone's name, isn't it common courtesy to give your own first? This is the first time we've seen each other. We should be on equal footing as far as building relationship goes, so why do you get to demand my name like you're so much better than me?

Satella isn't Emilia's mom. Emilia's dad is an elf, her mother is a human.

Someone has stolen your content, and posted it on their TH-cam channel. he's Japanese. 3 days ago I saw his content, but now the trace is gone. It seems I've been blocked for commenting on stolen content. I don't remember the name of the channel because it says Japanese

Maybe you can search for the TH-cam content with another account, because it looks like your main account is also blocked so you don't get caught.
