I have the bucket and it really is perfect for the bx line. I have removed 6 trees and even transplanted some large bushes. The real gem is moving the giant rocks we gave in NH. Rolls them right up and out if the hole. Besides my tiller, it's the best attachment I have on my farm.
I have the GWT stump bucket. I am on a mission to eliminate honeysuckle from my six acres. The stump bucket is on an RK25 tractor. Last season, I took out about 750 honeysuckle roots (relatively shallow). I found out that having a person spot for me in front of the stump bucket increased my productivity to better target the stumps and I can run the tractor for hours without having to get off. I run about 500 lbs of weight on the back of the tractor by using a heavy implement on my GWT quick hitch. All of it is highly recommended.
The big selling point is that the implement/attachment is cheaper than replacing tires or bent equipment. My zero turn's front tires hate staubs but seem to seek them out.
Just ordered one this morning! Been on the fence about this for months. Compared the different versions from different manufacturers, and decided on this one. The erupted loaf of bread to small suitcase sized rocks on the property that have to be popped out should fit nicely in the scope of this "concentrated" bucket.
I just pulled a massive stump with my kioti cx2510 ..it definitely takes awhile lol..they're really in there and are always bigger than you think but the stump buckets do awesome and will get em with time and effort..ballast is so important to do it safely when you get that hole opened up and a tire falls in etc
I have to say that attachments is very impressive when it comes to compact tractors. I like the chain hook in the center that is a step above anyone else. Good job great video
I've got a John Deere 3 series and this bucket is perfect size once you get a feel for the tool. I've used it to pull up dozens of Yaupon Holly trees that have infested my property. Cut them off at ground level and then use the bucket for a couple good digs and the root ball is out. It's also good for starting a trench. Even though it doesn't go deep enough, it's better than using a shovel for the whole depth of the trench. The front plate also acts like a blade when pushing dirt back into a trench. Ohh... and it's also good for precise demolition when forks are too much.
The GWT stump bucket is a savior for our property. Allows us to pluck out the 5 million limestone boulders on our property. Just be patient and go slow. Before you know it there will be a boulder extracted. Beats digging them out with a pick axe, San Angelo bar, and shovel!👍🙂
Any idea yet when your larger stump bucket will be ready for sale? I know it's tough with supply chain challenges. Still waiting on our add a grapple from Precision mfg and a hydraulic top link.
Just like eating an elephant “One Bite at a time” ! Sub compacts can do a ton of stuff. Any one that picks on the capability of one needs to use a pick and shovel for a while……… that usually wins them over quickly. 84 degrees in west Tennessee now days and y’all are still wrapped up.
I have a JD 3032e with a loader and bucket. What I have spent some time looking for is an attachment slab of steel that fit the front bucket edge that has steel points on it, or steel points that wedge on it, so that it will dig. The terrain here is hard packed clay. Every place I have contacted want to sell me a new bucket that has those points welded on it from the factory. Do you have any ideas?
Several thousand of these in the field, no one has had to justify yet. No damage as we design our buckets to fit the tractors and work within limitations.
Lots of vines and roots. Not sure who was working harder, you or the tractor. I think you. LOL... When are you releasing the stump bucket (Skid Steer version).
Courtney, I know nothing about geometry, but I’m curious as to how rear ballast weight helps while using the stump bucket, since you’re not hauling a lot of weight? Thanks.
Thanks Jeffrey. That makes sense. I have a 4 series tractor and am interested in a stump bucket. GWT’s larger stump bucket isn’t available yet, so I went to my local tractor implement shop that sold me my grapple. The owner doesn’t sell stump buckets. He said it’s too easy to tweak a loader and he doesn’t want to be held responsible.
Hey Courtney...That set up works very well. Is it faster faster/more efficient from start to finish than with the 1025r backhoe attachment? I know you aren't a big fan of the back hoe (cost to use ratio), but curious to know your thoughts/experience.
I can't comment from experience but it sure seems like a backhoe would be quicker to dig it out. I personally have very little use for a backhoe, so the stump bucket would be much more ideal given how often it would get used vs a backhoe. I had a family member over this morning, he was able to rip 11 smaller stumps (probably 16in diameter) out in about 25 minutes using a Bobcat 331. A couple of quick passes on each side, then push the stump over. Use the thumb to pick them up and literally toss em in the burn pile. That said, the 331 weighs about 5x more than a bare 1025r.
I like the idea of ballast weight brackets but why not just use a ballast box which is loaded. Quick connect and don't have to attach each of the brackets and load the weights. Unless your using it for your morning workout?
Size Matters a lot with a stump bucket. Mine is 3.5 feet long and pushing it with L 3901. It gets the job done, but I can definitely see how a smaller one on a lighter tractor would hit a dead end. You have to go in at a shallow angle in order not to stress the hydraulics, a shorter stump bucket is not going to really give you that option.
@@ATR-42 I agree that it is going to stress the Hydraulics less if you angle it down. However, it doesn't seem to dig deep enough. If you angle the bucket really steep, then the front end of the tractor just lifts up because it doesn't have enough weight. If that's the size of the tractor that you have, having it is better than not having it. I'm just pointing out that there's a significant difference in the way I work it. When compared to using the regular buckets, this tractor and my larger one work pretty much the same. I just hold more in the bucket. With the stump bucket, it seems to work different.
@@tsafa well said. In any case, using a stump bucket with any tractor requires attention and trying not to twist and end up with a bent loader. I have the artillian one which is pretty short but use it very carefully.
Looks like an okay attachment for a rugged skid steer. I would never put something like that on my tractor loader. GP outdoors had a unit like that as well. It looked like he was going to tare his loader off the tractor. Be careful if you're working on any stump over 4-5 inches in diameter.
Would never put one on my L2850's loader. I've used 250' of 3/8" wire rope and up to 4 snatch blocks with a good anchor tree - don't cut the tree first - snap most of the roots with the backhoe, hook up a hefty chain around the trunk as high up as possible, use as many snatch blocks as space and safe location to pull from allows, then pull the damn tree over - root ball & all. Works good with smaller root-intense brush as well. All you seem to be doing is beating the hell out of the machine and still having a lot of hand work to do. Better still - use a good size excavator with a thumb. The investment in the cable and snatch blocks paid good dividends for me in the end. Carved out about 750 feet of driveway with white oaks up to 20" DBH.
As a total novice that has zero experience, it looks like it’s really hard on the tractor. I recently purchased a BX23S and would have a hard time doing this with my new tractor (not to mention, I’d have no idea how to use a tractor in this fashion)
When you get done with the tractor at the end of the day do you take the weight off the back end or do you just park the tractor with the weight on?? Do you let the arms down or leave them up? I think I may have a seal that started leaking when I parked my BX with the arms up, thank you. Great video like always.
I keep looking at the stump bucket and just can't pull the trigger. In all the videos I have watched including this one it appears that the tractor and mainly the loader are being abused. I use my equipment hard but not to the point of abuse. Might be better on a larger frame tractor? On my compact tractor I'll stick to my Woodland Mills Stump Grinder.
These tractors are designed to pull farm implements and are not construction rated. Keep using like this and they won't last long. It's not an excavator.
Hey Chris... your shots are not boring you really make it so we the beginner can see and understand how to do....thanks for the great video

I think I might have to pick one of these up
Rhinohide FTW! what an awesome canopy, quick on and off for trailering, adjustable for low parking clearance, plenty of shade and indestructible.
Love watching you work the 1025R... nothing boring about the footage you filmed for this video.

Putting those ballast to work !Awesome video as usual, thanks stay safe
These are definitely handy and they can help you get the job done in a lot of different ways. Multi function

Excellent video, thank you sir.
What a great tool!
Easier than an axe, shovel, crowbar & pick.
Cheaper than an excavator.

It will eventually work but it’s bringing a knife to a gun fight, a larger tractor, backhoe attachment or a skid steer would work much better.
Imagine doing that with a non-hydrostatic transmission...
All that weight on the back I noticed it looked like the rear tires were squatting pretty good like low air pressure.
How well does your stump bucket work with a 38hp LS tractor?
Would you recommend the stump bucked HD for a 3 series John Deere? Thanks
I'd like to see someone use the stump bucket for trenching

Looks like a great attachment but here in Arizona we rent a good size backhoe. Dirt is just to hard. Wish we got more rain.
So.. How are we going to justify broken pins and bent arms under warranty?

Meanwhile my boyfriend is out there removing our stumps with a shovel and an axe🌳😂😂
Dumb question, I know you were kinda high on kubota b series. I’m guessing I would be able to do something like this with the 2601?

Hi Courtney great video, really like the stump bucket but need a larger size for my 4066r how's your prototype coming along.

@@TheeAbstractHero Intrinsic weight definitely matters...

What is happening at your old store and the new one? Keep up the awesome content!
Where did you get the sun shade/canopy for the tractor. Not factory right?
It's at www.tractorcanopy.com He bought Rhinohide.

I disagree, a shorter stump bucket has less leverage on the loader, thus is safer to use (SCUT)

If you had the option, ignoring price difference, of a stump grinder vs a stump bucket for less “property damage?”
How to damage a tractor loader.
Thousands in the field, not a single customer reporting damage. I guess you’re wrong.

Isn’t the 3 point hitch capacity only 758lbs?
GWT when you are working the 1025r, what rpm are you running ?
Does the canopy fit for the backhoe and loader at the same time??
That looks like that is rough on that little tractor 😖
How much rear weight is on there? That thing is saggin!

I leave the weight on, arms down. No problems for a long time that way. I bet owners manual has something to say though
That front axle was sure getting a workout.

Why do you have black weights on the back and not green did you paint them are you selling black now
could of got it out faster with my flat edged bucket and a box blade lol
Such as little tractor trying to remove stumps.
