Maybe Jon Licht (Daniel's nephew, who sang this song) will step up and take over for Dishonored - he's also a musical composer. He's done music for Silent Hill, so maybe...

That sentence "Played over and over until you are free"... perfectly describes the game :D Just finished it for like the tenth time, it never gets boring.
Honor for you Daniel! You stood tall and your fall left a huge hole into our hearts. Now, we're just left with the sound of your voice, a sweat symphony that we can play over and over to make you live through our memories. Rest in peace.
For all of those asking, here's what I could make out by ear: Main part: Fm - Csharp Bridge: E - Am Piano riff: ://C-F-Gsharp C-F-Gsharp-C-F//: G-Gsharp-G-F E-F-G-F G-Gsharp-G-Gsharp Asharp-Gsharp-Asharp-C The chord structure is rather simple, but it's the complexe arrangement and rich layering of instruments and voices that makes this song absolutely epic. Enjoy!
Does anyone else feel a sense of depression when we can see Dunwall Tower and the Lighthouse at the hideout? Ever since I’ve finished Dishonered, I’ve noticed I can see the Tower and the Lighthouse, and I can feel this sense of depression hit me.
When you finish the game and this plays, then the true meaning of Dishonored starts settling in your bones, your heart, OUR heart. The story you went through because of one man's actions. I'd always thought of how much Corvo must've stared at the Tower across the river, his life, his entire life just out of reach across the water, taken away from him in the name of greed. Then you start another playthrough, the moment that hilt hits your head, the word Dishonored comes across the screen, then you understand Corvo's mission more and more, then it _really_ sets in. Shit tugs at my heartstrings thinking about it. RIP Daniel, through your music, your storytelling, you made me feel so absolutely connected with a fictional man. The good die young, but I'm glad he was here to make his mark on people, his own Outsider's mark in my heart.
Oh well, honor for all Of the big and the small Well the taller they stand Well the harder they fall We live for today But we die for the next With blood in our veins And the air in our chest So we step into war With our hearts on the line Dirt on our boots It shakes free over time The music it fades The violin slows The darkness it rises As the sun goes Love is a distant aroma at best A withering smile that's stuck deep in your vest The night air it wraps its fingers around Your body it shakes from the now distant sound Oh, the sound of her voice A sweet symphony Played over and over Until you are free The music it fades The violin slows The darkness it rises As the sun goes Can you feel the new day rising Climbing up the east horizon? They can't hold us Now we'll fight through Each and everyone will start new Well, we shall not stumble No, we shall not fall We shall not crumble No, we shall stand tall With death it will come As sure as a night But we will not run No, we live but to fight With blood on our hands And dirt on our knees We tear at the ones Who brought the disease The music it fades The violence slows The darkness it rises As the sun goes Can you feel the new day rising Climbing up the east horizon? They can't hold us Now we'll fight through Each and every one will start new Can you feel the new day rising Climbing up the east horizon? They can't hold us Now we'll fight through Each and every one will start new
That iconic hammer dulcimer is what really stands out about the song, I think it's what gave dunwall and dishonored its overall theme. Daniel (May God rest his soul) knew exactly what to do for the game, and he and his team made it what it is.
2020 and still of the few songs that can give solid goofbumbs. RIP Daniel, even though you are not here with us, your music is still alive and it fill hearts of many people with happines. Thank you.
The soundtracks from Dishonored and Dexter are some of my favorites ever. Just found out Daniel Licht passed away. RIP to an incredibly talented composer 😔
This is a true masterpiece. Still to this day I've never heard a game soundtrack that would have the same atmosphere. It's just perfect. It's got soul and heart in it. I go back to my childhood every time I hear it. Back to those days when I would come back from school and play dishonored the tenth time and still have thrilling experience. Haven't played anything better since then. Even the second part and DLC are not as good as the first part. It's legendary. Has such a unique charm to it that just touches every part of your soul.
Even years of not touching the first dishonored game I still sing along to this one.. never realized he passed away until I recently started to read the comments.
When I finished my first Dishonored playthrough I got the low chaos ending, I took very deep to my bones how Emily appreciated Corvo as a parental figure (at the moment I didn't know he was her father) and when this song started playing I felt this epiphania about being rewarded when doing things in a certain way. I killed all the assassins except for their leader, a few gangsters and a couple city guards, I saved the gangster leader from the rat witch and use non-lethal approachs when got the chance. I had no idea about the ending results, I just made selfish decisions to my convenience and liking. . . . . . *Emily best daughter*
I remember listening to this song back in 2014-2016 while my country was falling apart and college students were the ones taking the streets. I was young and naive and risked police brutality and political imprisonment believing in that inspirational message of fighting your oppressors and those who did you wrong. "They can't hold us down, we'll fight through. Each and everyone will start new". Many of us did start anew... leaving Venezuela in hordes to survive, some of us being unable to ever go back. The dictatorship stands just as strong these days. We lost. There are no happy endings in the real world. Sometimes the tyrants do win.
Every victory is temporary. As is every loss. Some cities and villages in my country were occupied by the neighbouring one. People there were fighting the oppressors, in peaceful and not-so-peaceful ways. Part of them was liberated by our army, a large part of them is still occupied. There can't be happy ending for everyone. And there usually are no fast happy endings at all. Hope can keep you sane... or poison you.
Rest in Peace Mr. Licht. You're music will outlive you for decades to come. I'll never forget the chills I had when i reached the ending of Dishonored and this song overtook the credits. One of my favorite credit songs ever
A pure Genius has fallen... This song MADE dishonored and his Music is what made me fall in love with the game... Rest In Peace and may Jon be able to carry your amazing work on...
This fucking song is as good as the fucking game. And the song fucking reflects the fucking game all fucking well. This song is too fucking brutally underrated.

There's got to be fucking more
Breno Angélico, yeah dude. Let's fucking wait for a fucking sequel from a mother fucking Arkane Studio. I hope they don't fuck it up and make another fucking awesome game. Fuck yeah.
I went from playing the first game obsessivly while spending my time carefree in school to writing my masters thesis in media studies about it. Every time when I feel that I need some guidance and whatnot, I come here to listen to this vibrant and touching song. Again and again. Now it is for the 400th time probably, lol. A masterpiece.
Rest in peace, Daniel Licht. You brought a special feeling to all the games and movies you touched, and though publishers may fall, & new generations rise, you will be remembered as the composer of gems such as Dishonored, Silent Hill, & Dexter. Farewell, Daniel, & thank you for the music.
You will be missed. I grew up with this song playing every time I finished Dishonored. But now it's a reminder of what a great musician and singer we've lost.
The song makes me so emotional, because in my mind it's forver associated with me finishing the game. That feeling of victory, success, you reached the ending, saved Emily. So yeah, I LOVE this song. And this was an amazing live version, thank you!
Every time I listen to this song I get super nostalgic and emotional. It's such a goddamn masterpiece! God I want to just broadcast this universally or some shit.
Amazing. Очень понравилось, одна из немногих иностранных песен перевод которых мне нравится. Переводил прям на ходу читая текст песни и слушая исполнение. Daniel Licht and other guys thank you very much!
I finished the game only 3 days ago in low chaos, and have to admit, this is my favorite game now! Also, in low chaos the song sounds much more victorious and sad and epic..... It all depends on your gameplay. If you end in high chaos, this song portrays an incompleteness, an emptiness like some unfinished business has been given up. But if you end in low chaos and save Emily , this song portrays a moment of victory and instills a joy and a sense of victory in you.
I hate that people like Kim Kardashian and Ariana Grande are more famous than these guys. This song is brilliant, and when I heard it in Dishonored I couldn't wait to finish to hear it again.
This helped me through depression, through suicide attempts. When no one was beside me this song was the friend that stood by me and says "I feel you. I know you are tired and I know your pain. it will be alright, just hold on. just stand tall." kudos to you for making this masterpiece and to Arkane studios for making a true work of art.
Maybe I'm the only one but does anybody else hear how it goes from low chaos to high chaos? "The dirt on our boots that shakes free over time" I think this means that at one point corvo did feel hatred but He valued life to much to let it take him. In the next part of the song some lyrics read "Dirt on our knees and blood on our hands" does this mean that instead of overcoming his hatred corvo went even deeper into the rabbit hole? Maybe I'm over thinking this song? I also just remembered the lyrics that help prove this part of the song is high chaos "We bring down the ones that brought the disease."
That's what I do when I play. I slowly start killing people and start going insane from a combination of disease and grief. At the end of the game I'm ditching stealth for decapitations, rats and explosions.
same here, i tried for low chaos, but i found it to be too hard, kept getting caught and overwhelmed, so i went crazy and killed everyone. that was fun. =P
Luke Bryant I went for the stealthy path, and like you, I started to just kill them because it was easier, but I came to my senses and remembered the stealth and went back to knocking them out, of course when I got to Hamlock and stabbed him in the neck then his arm sliced off too and threw him about heh.
Luke Bryant I tried, but really when you think about it, if you had everything you cared about taken away along with your honor, and you had immense power what would you do?....DECIMATE EVERYTHING IN YOUR WAY XD
"We bring down the ones that brought the disease" isn't really high chaos though. I brought them down through the non-lethal means. Leaving them alive would make the world more chaotic.
I feel like this version should have played in the end credits of the second game The acoustic sound fits the setting and sound design of Serkonas, while bringing a new feel to the original track of the first game It sounds like something the street singers in game would sing if they were in a big band rather than just a duo
The song and game are just gems in the rock that no one can find, Dishonored is one of the few games I can actually appreciate because it is made up, and the people who made it had true creativity, the exact same for the song. :)
I had forgotten about this song, as I really loved Dishonoured, was just having a trip down memory lane watching a video of the old Outsider’s voice (we all know the first one was the best one!) then stumbled on the end credits, and was absolutely blown away by this song. I’m so sorry to read Daniel has died. This is a great song, and Jon’s voice is perfect for it, I’ve listened to it about 5 times already this evening!
I can never play in high chaos. Im just used to stealth so much. Secondly, I've went through things that taught me mercy and forgiveness, so in a way you can say that i was portraying myself in the game through Corvo, and that is why i showed mercy and wisdom and forgave everyone for what they did and gave them a merciful ending.(except Havelock- i blew his head off)
Rest in peace, Daniel. His music had such a unique sound and I loved everything he made.
damn
I only learned that he died after completing Dishonored: Death of the Outsider... so it kinda gave me an emotional ending.
Daniel is Daud confirmed.
May he rest in the void
He's dead?
Wow. Shit.
This song is brutally underrated.

Well the harder they fall
We live for today
But we die for the next
With blood in our veins
And the air in our chest
So we step into war
With our hearts on the line
Dirt on our boots
It shakes free over time
The music it fades
The violin slows
The darkness it rises
As the sun goes
Love is a distant aroma at best
A withering smile that's stuck deep in your vest
The night air it wraps its fingers around
Your body it shakes from the now distant sound
Oh, the sound of her voice
A sweet symphony
Played over and over
Until you are free
The music it fades
The violin slows
The darkness it rises
As the sun goes
Can you feel the new day rising
Climbing up the east horizon?
They can't hold us
Now we'll fight through
Each and everyone will start new
Well, we shall not stumble
No, we shall not fall
We shall not crumble
No, we shall stand tall
With death it will come
As sure as a night
But we will not run
No, we live but to fight
With blood on our hands
And dirt on our knees
We tear at the ones
Who brought the disease
The music it fades
The violence slows
The darkness it rises
As the sun goes
Can you feel the new day rising
Climbing up the east horizon?

"They can't hold us down, we'll fight through. Each and everyone will start new". Many of us did start anew... leaving Venezuela in hordes to survive, some of us being unable to ever go back.

RIP Daniel Licht. You will be missed.
R.I.P Daniel Licht thanks for this awesome soundtrack :')
awesome
At the end of Dishonored DOTO they paid tribute to Daniel Litch.
RIP man, "we shall not run, no, we live but to fight"
Goodbye Daniel We will honor you forever
The song and game are just gems in the rock that no one can find, Dishonored is one of the few games I can actually appreciate because it is made up, and the people who made it had true creativity, the exact same for the song. :)
Rip Daniel Licht. You will be missed
Secondly, I've went through things that taught me mercy and forgiveness, so in a way you can say that i was portraying myself in the game through Corvo, and that is why i showed mercy and wisdom and forgave everyone for what they did and gave them a merciful ending.(except Havelock- i blew his head off)
легенда, спасибо за детство
Huge respects sirs!...
I love the game...I love and feel this track too!
