    Thanks for the video. The plugs on the driver side are easily visible but I I couldn’t figure out where the other three plugs were located. Odd that Jeep would use a different type of boot for the other side.

    Brought my jeep in to the dealer. Got a lifetime warranty. The coils need to be replaced and they're under warranty. They now suggest i get the spark plugs changed as well. They want to charge me $650 to change the plugs. Is that insanity or what? To me, since the coils are already being replaced the spark plugs will take like 10 minutes to pop in or am I wrong?

      5/8in Spark Plug Socket specifically
      8in Extension was used and he used a 10mm socket to get the ignition coils off on the right side.

    • @HilltownCT

      Yes, and three quarters of the way through, I realized that the camera wasn’t recording. Fairly straightforward, but if you are at all uncomfortable, I would do them one at a time. Have a good weekend.

    Thanks, the Commander has this stupid intake cover that you have to remove first. It's annoying at best. This also makes sense since I spent way more time than I'd like to admit looking for 2/4/6 coils.

    How can you tell if you have a misfire then I’m getting code cylinder one misfire how would I know which of the three coils is one

    • @HilltownCT
      @HilltownCT  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can usually feel a misfire at idle. You'll notice a slight hesitation/miss that causes the vehicle to shake slightly. If I recall correctly, coil 1 is the left front or driver's side front. Please do your own research and don't take my word for it. Good luck.

    I like that fancy electric ratchet. Just so ya know, fords never need plugs changed. They are designed to last the life of the vehicle which we all know is several million miles.

    • @patorick9512
      @patorick9512 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ya they just blow them right out of the cylinder head !

  • @famousforever8556
    @famousforever8556 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Super simple, until the coil boot doesn't come out with the coil 😡 No fun getting it out of the cylinder head. Some lubricant and a compressor helps, but not many DIY peeps have a compressor nearby.

    • @HilltownCT
      @HilltownCT  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Famous Forever Yes, that’s not good! They tend to get baked on over time.

    • @famousforever8556
      @famousforever8556 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@HilltownCT baked in, on the spark plug, to the bottom of the cylinder and breaks apart into a bunch of small pieces as you try to pick it out while looking into how much a new ignition coil is going to run you!
      I just had two of the three do that to me while replacing my spark plugs. Some advice, get a dental pick or similar hooked instrument and a shop vac with a tapered nozel before you change your spark plugs, or you might be stuck using whatever you have on hand to clear your cylinder if your boot breaks off in it. Such a piss-off and waste of your day!
