I'd still like to see the return of a SCab model. I know they probably dont sell well, but feel the shorter wheelbase just really suits this type of monster.
A sport truck of either the Ford 5.2 or Ram 6.2 would've been badass. As a Mopar fan, I remain stumped that Ram never dropped the Hellcat in a resurrected SRT-branded Ram street truck. Ford had the Shelby Super Snake sport truck, but not an in-house built truck. The Raptor R is a lot of truck and sadly, with markups is realistically $130K in the real-world. Sure it has the V8 super truck class to itself for now, but the TRX was the one to create the high hp super truck class, and the R would not have existed without it. I'm anxious to see the Ram RHO with the SST Hurricane, which should make it a better offroader because of so much weight coming off of the nose, and will likely tow and haul more due to increased capacities.
The TRX would not have existed w/o the Raptor. I'm also anxious to see the Ford's response to Ram's RHO SST Hurricane, because they will for pride/ego sake, and as usual the customers will bear the brunt with the high cost because it's not coming down.
@@sundaydickson I don't disagree. The Raptor created the factory super truck in 2010. They literally caught every automaker off-guard. And to think Bill Ford almost canceled it because the development came during the financial crisis meltdown(which then they pushed back the release of the S550 Mustang and instead twice-refreshed the S197). Ford had also spent millions on developing the 6.7 Powerstroke, 5.0 Coyote, and 3.5 EB. So the Raptor almost was on the chopping block...until they sold every truck that they could build, and it got even crazier when the Boss 6.2 was dropped along with the Super Crew. So yes, we all owe Ford a great deal for trucks like the TRX and even less-capable trucks like ZR2 and AT4X. I'm sure they'll close the gap on the SST Ram by turning up the wick on the Ecoboost. If I were Ford, they may be better suited using the Powerboost iteration because that would be a one-up that nobody has on a true-offroader.
@@hellkitty1014 It's going to be interesting seeing how the competition will heat up come 2024/25. Depends on your use case though. I doubt you’d want to Baja race or really push a Rivian or Hummer. The issue is most people probably wouldn’t do this often with a new Raptor R either given the price.
Awesome review as always Alex . What about reviewing the 2023 Ford F150 Shelby super snake ? That may be the truck you were missing . Can you review that ? Thank you

GM made two epic fails with their product portfolio: 1. Missing the Performance Truck class, which has made Ford and Ram a fortune 2. Failing to use their Blazer/Trailblazer names to offer an off-road ready SUV, e.g. 4Runner, Wrangler, Defender, Bronco. While everyone else makes a killing, offering SUVs for men, GM made two more female-friendly crossovers, in a saturated market.
Man I've been talking about point 2 to everyone!! They totally dropped the ball on the Blazer!! It's just another SUV now. Not like the ones back in the day with the 350 and 35" tires!
GM has outsold Ford in full size pickups every quarter since Q1 2020. And GM is more profitable than Ford overall because niche markets are not as profitable long term. GM makes vehicles for men and for women. Want the stats on full size SUVs?
+110K, This thing is the same price as the ram runner back in 2010 however the ram runner only came with the 6.4L V8 :X. I wish the TRX had the 392 V8 under 60K would not hesitate to get it. I'm not surprised Ford isn't making many of these as not many will pay 110K+ for this thing. The TRX made the headlines as you could get it in the low $70K in 2021 however Stellantis got greedy as well so no many are buying $95K+ Ram TRX trucks let alone $77K+ regular trucks. Now that Ram went V6 turbo all the way it will be no surprise to see the sales flop in 2024.
They pay huge millions of dollars penalty for exceeding emissions so they have to drop it, it's BS how many V8 TRXs are sold to cripple environment and how much is saved by V6 Turbo, Ford is in better situation most likely because of their Mach E helping the emission volume per sold vehicles
I think a modern street rod truck like the old Lightning or SRT-10 just goes too far against the grain of the modern truck market. Current trucks are all about being high up/lifted, comfortable/luxurious, and capable. A performance truck would probably give up a lot of towing/payload capability, it would probably have to be significantly lowered which modern truck buyers wouldn't like, and it would ideally be a short bed 2 door model which no one even offers anymore I don't think.
Hello Alex, you did complain about ride quality due to the K02 tires wrt everyday ride, now I have been looking into changing my tires (2023 F-150 Lariat HP 502A Pwr Bst) from the oem to an 3PMSF related tires due to my snowing weather in Alberta (Canada), what tires do you recommend for an everyday 'on road', commute? Thanks.
I’d go with a standard 3pmsf tire from any of the major tire companies. Steer away from anything that’s overly “off-road” focused (which can be tricky for a truck fitment) and stay at OEM tire pressure.
Alex you mislabelled the handling score! You gave the truck a D- for handling in the video but an A- score is listed in the grading chart in the top right
and same reason people buy 2 seat sport cars for same money with a lot power and bad mpg, at least this would has tons of comfort for 4 and some utility
unlikely gonna happen considering the ram will no longer offer any v8s in their lineup (we know who made the controversial decision first), but the power boost is still a great powertrain that needs to be in the expedition (to go after the only hybrid full size SUV out there)
And yes, a street truck would be sweet. These trucks with their multilink rear suspensions now probably are really well suited to that aspiration.
Agreed. Not sure why they don’t make a street sporty version too. I’m sure they could allow it to cost a little bit less as well.
10.9 mpg? Lawd ham mercy
Turrible
That’s the price you pay for 700 hp.

No argument on the practicality of it but the US likes 4 doors and the Raptor market seems to agree. -Travis
A single cab raptor r would be sweet. It’s pop a wheelie probably 😂
