Every time ComicPop messes with the space time continuum I'm reminded of our little friend Gindar... I await his return in a crisis level event of some kind. A Comic on Infinite Pops if I may
At 45:12 I actually think those Batmen (the three which are mostly visible, from left to right) are Bale, Conroy (it’s in the jaw and cheek bones, that’s where I see it) and Kilmer
I'd love to see a Batman Beyond, either 50 years after the 1966 show, or 50 years after the 1989 movie. Base a Batman Beyond story in either one of those universes.
This actually does remind me of The Batman movie just recently. There's a crazed villain hunting down legitimate business owners that are laundering money through gangs in town, civil unrest is welling within the town in part because of the laundering. The movie just started with the villain and interesting bits instead of following around a random guy that would become the villain
I think for stuff like this they should add a comic book editors note style box with a see this episode and the link to view the episode referenced. Haha
Overall this story is a lot of fun, but it feels like a first draft of a film script, and hell maybe it was. The name Robin is explained 3 different ways, Batman feels like a side character, and whether Dent's motivation comes from what could have been if different choices were made or if he thinks he's *actually* seeing the multiverse is never truly explained. I'm inclined to assume the former, but the story was still a lot of fun.
I have just found out that there is going to be another alternative sequel to Batman, 1989, called "Batman Resurrection." It's actually a novel that serves as an interquel, set between the first film and "Batman Returns.' Here is a synopsis of the novel if you're interested: "The Joker is dead, but not forgotten. Gotham City is saved, but it is still not safe. By night, its new symbol of hope, Batman, continues his fight to protect the innocent and the powerless. By day, his alter ego, Bruce Wayne, wonders whether there may someday be a future beyond skulking the city’s rooftops or the cavernous halls of his stately manor alongside the ever-dutiful Alfred Pennyworth.
But even after death, the Clown Prince of Crime’s imprint can be seen in more than just the pavement. Remnants from The Joker’s gang are leading wannabes fascinated by his bizarre mystique on a campaign of arson that threatens the city-even as it serves greedy opportunists, including millionaire Max Shreck. And survivors of exposure to The Joker’s chemical weapon Smylex continue to crowd Gotham City’s main hospital.
To quell the chaos, Batman needs more than his cape and his well-stocked Utility Belt. Bruce Wayne is forced into action, prompting a partnership with a charismatic scientist to help solve the health crisis. But as he works in both the shadows and the light, Bruce finds himself drawn deeper into Gotham City’s turmoil than ever before, fueling his obsession to save the city-an obsession that has already driven a wedge between him and Vicki Vale. The loyal Alfred, who had hoped Bruce’s efforts as Batman could help him find closure, finds the opposite happening. Nightmares begin to prompt Bruce to ask new questions about the climactic events in the cathedral, and investigations by Commissioner Gordon and reporter Alexander Knox into the arsons only amplify his concerns.
Having told the people of Gotham City that they’d earned a rest from crime, Batman finds the forces of evil growing ever more organized-and orchestrated-by a sinister hand behind the scenes. The World’s Greatest Detective must solve the greatest mystery of all: Could The Joker have somehow survived? And could he still have the last laugh against the people of Gotham City?"
I hope Warner Bros will make Batman '89 animated movie using using animation art style just like Batman The Dark Knight Returns and Batman The Doom That Came to Gotham.
Yeah we definitely need more of these type of back issues not to say what’s come before wasn’t great, this episode was just firing on all cylinders for sure !!
LOVED THIS EPISODE Thank you Sal Ben and Mustachioed Ethan for defying the laws of nature and physics to give to me this hour and a half of entertainment. I'll be watching the clock til next week for another installment. BACK ISSUES FOREVER HAHAHAHA!!!!!!
I really love the ideas in the Two-Face stuff but it is definitely way too slow for this story because it’s however many pages of set up and then suddenly we finally get a proper villain
This Back issue, I mean alternate universe tour was amazing!! Also, as much as I love Ethan, this other dude with a moustache is way cooler. Hope he comes back!
The earth 789 Sal Ethan and Ben started out with their trademark show Bat Issues and could not launch a spin off called Back issues. Also Ben is from Florida in that reality.
At 25:57 This Jim Gordon looks like the version from the 1992 Batman the Animated Series. Considering the 90s Batman had similarities to Tim Burton’s movie, it makes sense. Shirley Walker did both music scores from Batman and the animated series. Gordon’s look was done on purpose actually🤣🤣🤣
Very fun comic. You could tell Quinones getting COVID affected the latter half of the comic and I felt Catwoman was unnecessary. Other than that, it had good art and strong ideas, particularly with how Two-Face was handled. I'd like to see a sequel to this. We already know Superman is getting one.
I so hope you guys cover cosmic ghost rider volume 1 I love that comic Frank castle going on a cosmic road trip with baby thanos that is too good not to do on this show
I think Barbara is supposed to be “played” by Sean Young who was cast as Vikki Vale in the first film (and had to drop out due to pregnancy) and the infamously lobbied Burton and the producers to play Catwoman in the second film (clearly to no effect.) Nice to see she finally got the part!
