Make Better Neuro Basses With Bad Phase

- Today we do things completely wrong and intentionally cause bad phasing issues with a multiband dynamics in order to design a tough drum and bass style bassline patch using only stock Ableton plugins. A fun little trick.

Thanks for sharing this. I’d been asked to write my first DnB track and getting this style of bass right has been tricky.
So glad you’re releasing more content again! We missed you Slynky!
That's a handy trick, sounds super thick. Can see this technique appearing in one of my tracks real soon!
Of all the TH-cam video tutorials, yours are my favorite. You are a mad scientist like myself and I can relate. Your unconventional style and honesty is refreshing. Not to mention Duck buddy, that thing is getting used on everything.... Instantly improved my low end. Thanks!!!
Scientieeeee
that's such a good idea to use that as notch filters tf
This Is brutal man, thank you!
Allpass into distortion my dude.
Very nice! Looking forward to phase-sweeping my next track... Thanks for sharing...
Love the short videos! Going to try this later tonight.
This is absolutely nuts, gotta translate in to FL somehow, should be possible
so did it work? i also want to do something like this but i dont even know where to start
try with just a melda phaser filter or comb filter
Both are really customisable
Or just eq the notches in yourself@@FredbrStudios
cool - reminds me of the intro bass to "gatekeeper" by fresh, from the ukf bass culture album back in the day
SIck mate! more drum bass sounds please :p
I love your mind man
I did this with low and highpass filters, and then distortion. That was ages ago, I gotta try this with my new knowledge, experiment the heeck out of it
badass! Gonna have to make some of these now
Dope sound , def good for dnb
Great ! And , what's the sound track at the end plz ?
you look crazy, have a nice voice, it's my first time here, I'm interested in learning, so here we go.
Rocking the Melda shiz :) I should look again. Heard good things.
Yeah alot of the free melda plugins are super useful.
yep ...sounds crunchy fresch 👌
amazing technique! thanks a lot!!!
was wondering what’s the songs id in the outro.. did u make it for the video or is it available somewhere? sounds sick
I only use my own songs or music I made in the outros. This one is an unreleased song by me called "Do This". Hmm, I should really release that track ey?
@@Slynk thank you for your response! yeah the track is absolute fire!!!!!! would love to hear the full version one day
@@Slynk sounds sick release it
Helpful tip: anytime slynk chuckles take notes because something cool just happened. Think of it as the highlights.
Yo this is sick!
Mad technique!
how does your operator have that filter menu? I've never seen it with a text menu - mine has two drop downs - one for the type (lowpass, highpass etc.) and another drop down for the style like "clean, osr, etc" --- very curious how you got yours to be like that
Please can you do a sound design tutorial on the Arturia mini v lead sound from the Septuplet video?
That waveform looks Crazy
Yeah weird right?
what is the song in the end?
Reminds me a bit of some old school reece bass
Oh for sure. Reese basses are kinda built around that beating effect. When you play a higher note the beating happens faster. Same is happening here
Not me over here learning to use Sound Forge to do the same thing
sick
you are cracked
Unfortunately ableton has been difficult for me to learn and understand. Do u have private one on one sessions available??? I really need some help. Plzzzz
Yes I do lessons. You can apply here: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSesYI1UpLMmFDFTdAHEnfeN1gMVok0gcz3C6zvTuYRvOVS6CQ/viewform
whoah!! 😁👍
So how to fix phase issues? If we don't want it
.
Best way to "fix" phase issues is to not cause them in the first place. So don't mix a phase shifted signal (eq or any multi and effect) with a dry signal. Coz if you do that, you get crazy notch filters everywhere.
I feel like this sound should be in a guitar/bass pedal
yeah you could definitely add an Amp effect to this for added distortion and flavor.
the sound is not in D?? 😳
isn’t this basically just a phaser?
Hi
Sounds beefy 🐄
Sorry I only produce vegan basslines. :P
yay. first!
Sorry for the accidental dislike. Honest mistake immediately rectified. Beautiful sounds on display here 👍🏻
I luv u
oi maninho
This is wild
