@@2ndtlmining some items you have addressed...verification & etc. I would love to know how they calculate reliability. I have watch mine go down while rigs were up, running and being rented. Also, I have seen multiple content creators show a dashboard for earnings and usage that is significantly better then Vast's default dashboard.
@@scotthofner9447 Awesome. Not sure on your reliability going down. Might be your network in terms of ports. But in terms of dashboard I can help. I use 2 tools. Nvtop and Bpytop. To install and run: Sudo apt install pip Sudo pip install bpytop Then to run, just do: bpytop Nvtop is easy: Sudo apt install nvtop To run nvtop
Nice video. I build rig for vast, it's water cooled 3x 3090 with dual xeon cpus. I followed all the instructions, opened 300 ports on machine and router. Vast recognize my machine and shows 300 open ports, but when checking on portchecker it says all ports are closed. Also someone rented my rig couple times, but only for 2-3 minute. I think because of ports. Any recommendations?
hey mate Thanks for watching. Did you open the ports on your router or firewall? I manually do my port forwarding to the IP address of my vast rig and i make sure its static.
Im looking for a build guide. Help understanding what kind of CPU to choose (Cores/Threads/GHz/Cache), Memory (size/speed), GPU (consumer/server/worth going for over 24gb/number of gpus). Is there a good build guide somewhere? Im thinking of putting this in a datacenter rack so probably supermicro/dell/hp rackmount server. Not sure if it's worth going for A4000, A6000, A30, etc...)
Hey Ron. Thanks for watching. Regards to build guides, I just followed The Mining Kiings guide but then made some changes to suite me. Vast installation guide is also good. I did some more videos on my builds, but none really made for a data center. I do have a proper 4U server that can be tracked mounted but its a Xeon with pcie 3.0 so not ideal I would say. All my others are AMD Epycs with supermicro boards. For Vast the most in demand GPU ATM is 4090s. I have about 10 GPUs on ATM all server A5000 and A4000. Hard to fit 4090s in 4u racks, but some people on Vast are fitting them.

Thanks for watching mate. Personally i would go with a system if you want to run 4090s, something that has at least 32 PCI gen 4 lanes and with 64gb of system ram. That will at least ensure you getting some value out of the 4090s.

I have 3 rigs on vast…. Single 3090, dual 3060 and I just fired up a 6x3060 just to see if it will sell. All run on Epyc 7551p’s.

Also when checking in Port checker, check the 1st couple ports and the last couple ports in the range. Dont have to check all 100
