自然木から玄翁の柄を作る／Handle of hammer

古く傷ついた玄翁の柄を交換しました。
今回、あえてクサビを使わずきつめに仕込みました。
１日釘を打ちまくりましたが、抜けることはなさそうです。
We usually use a wedge for the fixation of the hammerhead. However, I did not use it daringly this time. I think that I did it well.

玄翁の柄ですと、そうとう堅い木でないと駄目な気がします。また、フシがないとか、乾燥度合いとか、作業に入る前の準備も、さらりと解説があると嬉しいです。

A beautiful handle. I have made wooden mallets and handles from apple wood. Was that a fruit tree branch you used? I also wonder that there is no wedge in the handle where it is in the hammer head. Thanks for letting us see this very nice process.

I used sawtooth oak. I have never used a fruit tree. I would like to use it someday.
Using wedges is also common in Japan. But I dared to try a method that doesn't use it. So far, the hammer head has not popped out. Thanks for watching.

南京鉋と作業台が欲しくなります。撮影＆編集おつかれさまでした。他人の作業風景を見てるのは楽しいですね。玄能の柄の交換は　ノミで削って少しずつ合わしていかないといけないのでイライラしてしまい苦手な方です(汗)

木工やってると、削っては合わせて、削っては合わせてを繰り返すことって結構ありますよね。私はちょっと大雑把なところがあるので、まあこのくらいでいいか！と早い段階で自分にOKを出してしまいます。今回はそのタイミングが偶然バッチリだったみたいです。
