Jordan I wanted to thank you for doing this episode I have not heard Jonathan Winters name in a long time it made me go back and watch him on Carson Mork & Mindy even Davis rules what a great guy kind-hearted never had to be dirty to be on TV a lot of people could learn from what he left behind God bless that man. He's killing it heaven.
Thanks for the details of Jonathan Winters life. I appreciate him even more now. I have a favorite Johnny Carson show moment where he and Robin Williams were exchanging dialogues with each other..two comedic geniuses in action bringing the house down in laughter. God bless them both. John Legend’s background story was also interesting. Can’t wait to see your next adventure.
Absolutely loved Jonathan Winters and found out he was from my town when I was a little kid; loved everything of his I could get my hands on. Later, I found out I was delivering the Springfield News-Sun to his mom's place on St. Paris Pike. She would give me lemonade once in a while. Many years later, I worked as an extra on "Flintstones" with Jonathan. He was a wonderful person and the funniest ever. I believe he is entertaining to a huge audience. THANKS SO MUCH JORDAN for a fantastic piece.
What a interesting video! I loved Jonathan in Mork and Mindy! I love your grandpa, your so lucky you're able to spend time with him. I can't believe he's still driving and living by himself at 90.
Wow! I would never have guessed J. Winters had parents whom did not love him! And yet JW met his wife and was able to have a sustained relationship. I really loved anything Winters. I hope his parents were left out of his personal success. The house in Springfield was gorgeous! Guess his grandmother had some money? Hope the grandmother was good to JW.
yup. I should get a copy of Winter's autobiography. Sad childhood....which Winter's was able to turnaround into stories about NASTY old ladies...with a twist!
Ok...My only experience with John Legend was when I worked at Budget Rental Car. A young guy walked in and I said hello. No response. I took his paper work and started processing it. My co worker kept looking over my shoulder and I was getting annoyed. She grabs a piece of paper and pen and asked for his autograph. He signed it. Never said a word. I just looked at him. He left. I asked her who he was. That's John Legend!!! My reaction. Who the hell is that??. A month later he appeared on Oprah. My reaction? Wow he actually talks. Lol. He was 26 at the time. Not into his music but I will remember that moment. Love Jonathan Winters. So sad his parents didn't love him. I hope he found some kind of peace with them at the end. Love seeing my buddy Jah!!
I enjoyed hearing about Jonathan Winters and I do remember as a kid watching Mork and Mindy. Jonathan Winters was great playing the son of Mork and Mindy as Mearth. He was a great comedian and he also appeared on the Johnny Carson Show. I did not mind hearing about John Legend, but the only song that I did not like that him and Kelly Clarkson did was rewriting a classic Christmas song called Baby It's Cold Outside because the younger generation felt the original song is not "Politically Correct." I still love the original version and have been listening to that since I was old enough to listen to music.
Oh my. Who knew that that Mr. Winter's life was filled with such heartache! I'll never understand parents like his. Love John Legend. So enjoyed this vlog. You bring so much information unknown to many. Thank you Jordan. You are one gifted and talented young man, I am forever grateful to be a Lion Heart. ♡
What a wonderful vlog, Jordan! It sure gave me an abundance of new respect for Johnathan Winters!! I have to say the Christmas decorations out side were so awesome, but I love the decorations your sanding in front of at the end...I just love & miss decorating for Christmas ☃️!!! ❤️
Great post! Nice to see both notable men from Ohio (entertainers) recognized in one of your videos. Im from Dayton, friends in Springfield and Columbus.
I can't imagine how terrible Mr Winters' life must have been with parents like that!! Bless his heart!! I'll never understand why some people are so horrible to their kids! What a heartbreaking story!
We had drive thru liquor stores in Illinois, too! LOL! I LOVED Show-Biz Pizza when I was a kid, too! :) Jonathan Winter's story is unreal...it's a wonder he amounted to anything with parents like that! How sad. He was hilarious!
I went to the same High School as Jonathan Winters. I've been to two funerals at his childhood home and had no idea that's where he grew up. My dad used to work with John Legends dad at Navistar(International Harvester). Also silent film actress Lillian Gish is from Springfield as well as actor Justin Chambers(Grey's Anatomy, The Wedding Planner). I used to go to church with his parent's. They sat in from of us and my mom met Justin at church when he was in town visiting his parent's. Another fun fact is that there is a house built by Frank Lloyd Wright here in Springfield also. I like that you put Super Dave's in your video. I used to stop there after work on the way home from the Ohio Masonic Home. Also I used to work at the Long John Silver's/A&W in this video too😃 I really enjoyed your video. Learned something new today🤓
Small world, I went to school with John Legend, but I knew him as Johnny Stephens. There's a restaurant a couple blocks north of the Littletons funeral home called Cecil & Lime, John's brother Vaughn pops in and sings with the piano playing owner from time to time. Vaughn is an incredible elementary school teacher, well known and loved around town. The whole Stephens family is absolutely wonderful
Jordan, this was an amazing vlog! You discovered information that we never knew! I loved Jonathan Winters, and he was so funny! It saddens me to hear that he grew up in a dysfunctional household! What hateful parents! I guess back then, the school's never did home visits or care how their students home life was! So glad that he moved on and made a success of himself! He was a very good man! ⬇⬇⬇ Your vlog on John Legend was interesting! You would have thought that he would have checked his music before publishing it! You can possibly take a word or two from a song! Not the whole paragraph or lyrics, from a song! Other artist have been caught doing the same thing and are paying back Millions! Thanks for freezing your buns off for us! So glad that you enjoyed your visit to your Grandpas! ⭐⭐🏆⭐⭐
I was just a kid and therefore couldn’t stay up on a school night to watch the weekly Jonathan Winters comedy variety show on CBS. I did see him in “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World,” but was unfamiliar with him. At age 7 Laurel & Hardy, Jerry Lewis and The Three Stooges were my clowns of choice. When I was 12 Winters’ kid character, “Chester Honeyhugger” had a catchphrase that everyone in my Jr. High School repeated. And Winters’ portrayal of the immaculately white uniformed trash collector for Hefty brand bags had everyone mimicking his pronunciation for “gar-bahhj” And his appearances on Johnny Carson - Hilarious! I did not know that he had such a wretched childhood. Often the funniest comedians, Chaplin, Richard Pryor, Robin Williams spin their hardships into comedic gold. Thank you Jordan for another informative vlog.
Jonathan Winters, seems like he had a strong sense about himself. To rise above that sorta treatment. I was pleasantly surprised at how John Legends family home is still the same exepct for the snow on the ground. WOW !!! Go wonder.
Loved this tour. Again, learned a bunch. It is really cold here in Cleveland too, but it looks like you did not get as much snow as we did. Looking forward to your continued adventures.
I'm originally from a smaller town in Illinois about 80 miles southwest of Chicago and I moved to Springfield at the end of 2017 my hometown in Illinois was named after a dr from Cleveland I thought that was pretty cool lol
You've done a great job on these vlogs from Ohio. Each one has been full of very interesting information, as well as a warm cozy family feel. We always got a kick out of Jonathan Winters on television. Sad he ended in a mental home and even more sad about his early home life.
Springfield is by far GARBAGE! I've lived here all my life and all Springfield is, is Herion users and crack heads. Its actually depressing! The only place that looks decent is when your going out of town.
That's cool. Love stuff from Ohio. I grew up in Norwood, Ohio. Home of Theda Bara, George Stephanopolis(West Side Story) Vera Ellen (White Christmas). So I find that interesting to know. Thanks again for taking us along.
hi Jordan you are so great at this I have never been disappointed with any of your vlogs never knew anything about Johnathon Winters very interesting thank you so much have a great day.hello Jah.
Another town to explore that’s full of movies / celebrities is Lebanon Ohio . Woody Harrelson is from there and his moms family still lives there and runs one of the local funeral homes. They also filmed several movies there also the lead singer of Diamond Rio ( Country Band ) Marty Roe is from there . Woody Harrelson also worked at Kings Island in the wood sign shop. Lebanon is about 5 minutes from Traders World
My man!!!! That's my hometown, been in that house many times for too many funerals. Jonathan was a distant cousin of my grandfather. Did you get to see the little house behind it.? That Dream Cup is a tire shop now, we also have a funeral home that was once the private residence of Asa Bushnell before he became governor. We are also the home of Frostop Root Beer also, we have an old Frostop root beer stand on east high street going out toward our fairgrounds, the root beer mug is in our old marketplace which is now a local history museum. We are also the hometown of International Harvester, which used to make tractors and farm equipment, then they started making civilian, medium and heavy duty like suburban type trucks, Military trucks, semi trucks and ambulances. I've had 4 family members retire from there, the original Lagonda road plant was demolished a few years back, it hadn't been in use for years, at least since the 1960s when they built the new plant on 68 going toward Urbana which my great uncle retired from and where my little sister works at now.
Also, another fairly famous building in our town (you can catch a tiny glimpse of it in this vlog), the Bushnell building. Lots of history in there. Lots of history all over actually, it's just all very run down now. But I can see where I work in this vlog. 😊
I really enjoyed this vlog and your too young to remember but I can remember television in the 1970s when Winters was seemingly on every variety show and every talk show and he was hilarious. The ability to go in and out of different characters was amazing. I would recommend to anyone look up on TH-cam: Jonathan Winters Carson Tonight Show 1974 and you can see examples of his paintings and quick references to childhood etc. He was classic Winters, unpredictably funny. Thanks for the tour of his childhood home and some of his history because it fills in a lot of blanks of how he, became the entertainer.
I love Jonathan Winters. When I was younger I thought he and Shelley were related :-P lol. I'm so sorry his parents treated him that way. I hope the love of his millions of fans could fill that void in some way. I remember going to showbiz pizza place!! That band was still kinda scary as a kid lol! Drive through liquor stores.. almost a good idea lol! ;) Thank you and your family for these wonderful vlogs! :-D
Hey I'm the seventh one on the vlog. Wheres the other Lionhearts? Loved the vlog! Loved Jonathan Winters, don't know John Legend! Keep warm and GO TO LONDON! I so want to see it through your eyes!
I actually went to a funeral there several years ago.. And did not know this wow... Im from Hamilton ohio about an hour an half or so of there.. Thanks fer the info....
Great vlog Jordan! :). So sad about Jonathan Winters childhood! How could someone do that to their own child? I think he adorable in Mork n Mindy, he stole the show with his improv! :) I use to watch the Johnathan Winters show when I was younger and loved when he would do his voices using different props from his trunk in a attic! He was my favorite part of my childhood! Thanks!
I read his autobiography. So sad. But his wife was a gem . He went to AA and a couple of stints in a psychiatric hospital. He was married for over 60 yrs. He was a genius. oops tou just said what I wrote. oh well it's an echo
jonathan winters grand parents Beautiful home I imaging that the funeral home had additions to the home looks much to large for a living room family rooms but who knows it may have been that large all along. really sad that he was treated with such contempt .
Showbiz is still open, operating as Chuck E Cheese, but I still call it Showbiz. The little house on the funeral home property was JW's playhouse as a child. My dad tells me about it every time we drive past it.
Wonderful vlog beautifully handled. So heart wrenching to learn of Jonathan Winter's sad childhood. DYS should have been alerted of his parent's cruelty. Nowadays that would be almost considered felonious child abuse and neglect.
Great vlog as usual, Davey Moore great boxer died after one of his bouts and would destroy most of today's featherweight boxers! Bob Dylan even wrote a song about him
Being from Detroit I'm not that far from you guys I would love to go check out his old place where he grew up it's just too bad it's a funeral home now
Awesome vlog again Jordan, Sad about J.Winters upbringing. I hope he had happiness as his life went on. Just wondering if you’ve ever done anything on him or visited Dom Deluise hometown???
Hey Jordan, I hear your deciding, between your next trip, either London or Rome. I'm from London and the weather isn't great hear, at the moment, it's quite cold and frosty and damp, London is better to visit in our summer time, between June and September. Maybe choose Rome, as the weather maybe nice and warmer, for film with your camera. Just a suggestion. I've been a follower of your blogs and youtube website from day one, keep up the interesting blogs, I'm a big fan. Craig Xx
I remember Showbiz pizza! I'm from New York we have drive throughs originally called Dairy Barns now some are Dairy Marts. Although I think you can only buy beer besides milk, bread and eggs lol.
(1) 3:08 - That "Dream Cup Coffee Shop" must've been built as a Phillips 66 gas station. That was the corporate look for the 66s. (2) Winters's grandfather owned Dayton's Winters National Bank, which failed during the Depression. That must be the source of money which provided the mansion. Winters, while on Carson maybe among other places, tells stories of when he was a boy, his father was a failed insurance salesman or something, and while drunk ('Go mm-outside and mmplay... none of your business') sold the family farm.
What a coincidence! !!! I was watching Lala Land when I pulled up this vlog to watch. John Legend is a fantastic talent. Showbiz Pizza!!!!! I use to work there😂. They use to have beer and wine there. What a family place....we still have Chuck E Cheese here. I loved Johnathon Winters. He was a genius. I can understand why him and Robin Williams were best pals. They had the same type of comical genius. Loved them both. Such a sad childhood....A&W???? Omgggg I use to manage one years ago. My god this vlog brought back alot of memories. Thank you Jordan. Fantastic vlog.
Hes one of my favorites it's a big house wow .
He had to reach inside himself to find any symbol of reason. Loved his work.
I LOVE JONATHAN WINTERS.. GOD BLESS HIM.
Great video Jordan!!!
Hi Jordan! My Mom went to High School with Jonathan Winters! And as far as John Legend you couldn't meet a nicer family!

Rev. Jenny Osorio that is my pet peeve when I say hi to someone and they say nothing. Don't care who you are, It's rude!
That's so funny.... I remember the people from Ohio reacting to us exactly like that whenever we visited Youngstown for family reunions...

Wowser of a house...huge rooms but very beautiful. Thank you Jordan

Nashville had a showbiz pizza also. I loved it. The animals playing music on stage.
You could always tell that Robin and Jonathan had a strong connection. Loved the video today Jordan!
I'm loving the hometown tours. It's making me want to go to my hometown. Also glad that Chicago isn't the only place freezing....lol
Enjoyed this ❤️

Just got recommended this, never knew you went to my hometown! Also spent every birthday at Showbiz/Chuck E Cheese!
What a great vlog. Thank you for sharing your family Christmas. So much history around us if we just look.
I'm from Springfield and the town is nothing like it was when I was a kid. Drugs and buildings disappearing.
Loved this tour. Again, learned a bunch. It is really cold here in Cleveland too, but it looks like you did not get as much snow as we did. Looking forward to your continued adventures.

That apt unit at 3:28 has been a dope house for over 15 years
I live in Detroit, and we had a dope house kitty corner from my house. Drove the block crazy, until it was burned down!
Springfield, my home of 71 years and counting!

Daze with Jordan the Lion oh yeah, I totally understand that. I hope you’re enjoying your time with them!
"Who killed Davie Moore, why and what's the reason for" - is an old Bob Dylan song. Love your enthusiasm for figurines and statues! So endearing!
They talking about Springfield, don’t know who all come from here! Super sad!
Greatness
Spotless house!
Wonderful vlog beautifully handled. So heart wrenching to learn of Jonathan Winter's sad childhood. DYS should have been alerted of his parent's cruelty. Nowadays that would be almost considered felonious child abuse and neglect.
Lmao! Born and raised here in ohio! Always say duden it!
Very interesting about Jonathan Winters. Some of the greatest comedians often come from sad upbringings. They often used comedy to rise above it
If only I were 40 years younger!
Loved him on Mork and Mindy
We have drive up liquor & smoke shops here... and Long John Silver/A&W for long time (Arkansas)
Plus you have to learn to enjoy the English rain - there are plenty of shop doorways to shelter 👍
Great vlog as usual, Davey Moore great boxer died after one of his bouts and would destroy most of today's featherweight boxers! Bob Dylan even wrote a song about him
Very Nice
Being from Detroit I'm not that far from you guys I would love to go check out his old place where he grew up it's just too bad it's a funeral home now
I loved Showbiz pizza too!

I'm old enough to remember Super Dave Osborne but too old to know who John Legend is lol
My mom had her funeral at the funeral home.
