  • A guide for visiting the Singapore Botanic Gardens, the most visited Botanic Garden in the world. I share everything you need to know to visit the Singapore Botanic Gardens including how to get there, what to bring, and I highlight the major attractions including the National Orchid Garden. If you like plants and nature, then the Singapore Botanic Garden is definitely a must see attraction in Singapore.
    The 150 year old Singapore Botanic Gardens has a wide array of botanical and horticultural attractions. The Gardens has a rich history and a wonderful plant collection of worldwide significance. It is a unique example of the informal English Landscape Movement’s style in an equatorial climate.
    The first botanical garden in Singapore was set up by Sir Stamford Raffles, the founder of Singapore, in 1822 on Government Hill at Fort Canning, mainly to introduce into cultivation economic crops. It closed in 1829 and, in 1859, at the present Tanglin site a new garden was developed by an Agri-Horticultural Society, and later handed over to the government in 1874. From an ornamental garden with roads, terraces, a band parade area and even a small zoo, it has come a long way in evolving into a leading equatorial botanic garden of 82 hectares, where major world crops, such as rubber and orchids were launched.

    I might not ever get the money or time to go to Singapore, but I think I would feel overwhelmed by the huge numbers of different plants. I imagine it would be very hard for the park planners to choose which plants would be included, just because there are so many amazing things. I've seen some local parks and wetlands on the east coast USA, and even they have a huge number of unusual plants. I am learning to appreciate native plants that I never knew existed.

    Very well described video ! I would just like to know if there is any battery car or any such arrangements for senior citizens to roam around the big garden. Please let me know if any vehicle can be managed for touring inside the garden with very senior citizens who cant walk much. Thanks!

      Papiya Gupta while I have certainty seen Golf buggies roam, they are mostly ridden by park keepers but maybe one can arrange such a ride from the vehicle center.

    • @YellowProductions

      Admission to the gardens is free. Only the Orchid garden inside has an admission fee.. but that's a relatively small portion of the whole Botanic garden

    yes, Singapore Botanic Gardens are huge
    unfortunately I didn't visit the National Orchid Garden
    I have two questions:
    1. where is Topher?
    2. why there are no Bangkok videos on your channel and when we will see them?

    • @YellowProductions
      @YellowProductions  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Topher didn't make it with me on this trip to Singapore..... I only had about 30 hours on the ground in Singapore and was packing light... so unfortunately didn't have room for Topher! Sorry! :) Bangkok -- I haven't been to Thailand yet! Not sure when I'll make there! I want to go... just haven't gotten round to it :)
