Good analysis, I agree with that person's opinion that the added cap space is a positive from the Preds side of view but Barron will be a liability in their own zone. Carrier is clearly the better player, he should be better at defending in our own zone which was Barron's main weakness because of his lack of physical play. Barron was also expendable in Montreal because of the other upcoming right handed D's (Reinbacher, Mailloux).
It’s simple, they want to get returns on Savard and Matheson trades at the deadline. If you’re a team that thinks you’re a veteran D-man away from contending for a cup you’ll give up a lot, which is where the Habs benefit.
Correct. I would trade Matheson who has a bigger value and we have plenty of lefties. I would re-sign Savard for 3 more years at a team-friendly salary. You can’t be wrong with him as 5-6-7th D until he retires! Perfect teammate.
@caperboy1169 youtube was weird I swear I was replying to a different comment...The Newhook trade especially stands out to me as he's been awful this season.
@@AceMatthew25414 trading for picks he’s good, trading for established players not so much. Now’s the time to acquire players, there’s good reason to be worried
@@caperboy1169 He’s not going to move the needle. He’s a temporary band aide solution on the right side that is going to buy some time for the young D-core to develop.
@davechan8613 1 trade on a player no other team wanted to touch his contract for his well known fortnite addiction and mental health issues on top of his physical injuries
@CanadianBiPolarBear TWO first rounders and 83 games of Monahan for future considerations 1st rounder + for Ben Chariot Brett Kulak for the 2nd rounder that turned into Lane Hutson... 1st rounder + Heineman who's been one of Montreals better players this year for Tyler Toffoli (more then Calgary or NJ got for him) Matheson for a fallen off Petry on a bad contract Patty Laine and a 2nd for Harris (a good but 3rd pair defenseman) And probably his most underrated move, getting rid of that absolutely vomit worthy Mike Hoffman contract while getting a 2nd, Petry who turned into a 4th and Desmith who turned into a 3rd...So got rid of a awful contract and GOT a 2nd, 3rd and 4th... Obviously he's made bad moves (Newhook comes to mind) but he's a good GM overall and has made some absolute robberies.
Nice gamble for the Preds, Barron is still very young and has good offensive potential

Excellent point, and syntax. LOL
