Who knows. Maybe some technology in 50 years will allow people to see YOU at this precise time, even though no camera is recording you now.

Oh yeah, I grew up an 80s kid. And have so many great memories of the 1980s. The 1980s and 1990s were the best decades for me.
I remember watching this live when I was 8 years old. I even remember Catherine Bach saying "It's the beginning of a new year and a new decade".

Wow, this was the beginning of the decade I was born in. It sometimes fills me with wonder, how quickly the world and its ways have changed.
It’s funny most people think of rock and pop when it comes to 80s music but this video on the ball drop plays like mid to late 70s music that you would hear in 70s sitcoms but by like 4 years the true 80s would eventually kick in it’s just interesting to know how long it takes for a decade to bring in something new

Wow! I remember watching this as a kid. The 80's were great especially for me. I was going to become of age during the 80's. Everything was great back then. No social media, cellphones etc. Didn't need em. Sad to think though that 1980, was gonna be the last year John Lennon was going to be alive.

Looking at the make me remember the greatest times of my years things were so much different even the early 70's looking back at the made me realize how much things were so much better. now even when the ball drops today it's not the same people changed 70's and 80's was all about family being at Cousins and uncles homes eating dinner with the whole family watching that ball drop sleeping over and waking up with families going for breakfast and having dinner again for new year's day. Now it's all changed people don't do that anymore very sad... I miss the 70's and 80's

I remember my family and I going to the New Years Eve parties that someone in the neighborhood had. So many people. And we'd all count the New Year together. And go home and go to bed after that. Only time as a kid I got to stay up past midnight. Now as someone in my forties, I just watch the ball drop on TV and go to bed afterwards. But I do miss those New Years Eve parties as they were so much fun. Hung out with friends, got to stay up late, and got to pig out on good food and drinks.
That was the best decade to live in!

Wow, Catherine Bach was so hot. That little flash contained John Schneider and Erin Moran(RIP). I felt the 70s were much better, but the early 80s were also awesome. People were SO happy then.
There were a lot of elderly people that night, I wonder how many of them died that decade. I don't know why I keep thinking about that, but I remember when I celebrated with my grandmom the new year eve 2009-2010, and 7 years later she passed away.

My mom first was pregnant with me in about late Dec 1993 and on July 18th 1994 I was born when I should have been born around late September. Although I feel you and me are both blessed.
