A playthrough of Map06 of Doom II (The Crusher) on the Ultra-Violence difficulty for the PC. This is played through ZDoom. 100% kills, 100% items, and 100% secrets.
This is the only official map (including Ultimate Doom, Doom 2, TNT and Plutonia) where the position of a key (the blue one) varies depending on the difficulty level you are playing. At difficulty 1-2 it's under the crusher, at difficulty 3 it's on the ledge at 2:40, at difficulty 4-5 it's where it's shown in the video.

I've been playing Doom 2 since my age was in the single digits, but this video series is still revealing secrets I've never known about in all that time and never found before. It's magical.
This wonderful map worth restyling with modern 3d engines, like also the 29th The Living End, which certainly depicts a volcano which you fall into to reach the icon of sin, or hell beneath, as it was called earlier. And yeah, the cages are no doubt a prison for those imps inside.
You, dear BigMac Sir, are a true master of your craft! I have played these levels hundreds of times on UV - but everytime I watch your videos I learn some new tactics and movement patterns. The ease with which you move and humiliate the enemies is beyond comparison.
The secret room at 6:20 is one of my favourite Doom II moments :D. I have played this game and this map so many times, but I always have to smile when I open this room and shoot the barrel :). BTW: My option for the last big room is: After taking the yellow card, I run to the opening that leads you to the start room. If you do so, it's really easy to kill all the enemies.
Love how you almost run out of breath while reading the story and yet you will not pause to take a breath, just in order to finish the reading! Perfect.
Just finished this map, I like playing it and agree it is very challenging but also very generous with 2 megaspheres and 1 soulsphere. It is fun to see the Spider Mastermind being crushed. This map for me is very well designed, I love the view from the top of the lift. Actually, many maps in Doom 2 are designed with high up areas, such as Downtown, Industrial Zone and others, and I enjoy the view we get from up there. That is one of the reasons I like playing Doom 2.
Watching this and listening to your voice is the perfect thing to do if I want to fall asleep. Not because its boring but because I love doom and your voice is perfectly soothing.
Why in the world would they put a whole ass mastermind here? I was playing this level thinking, "oh, that's cute, this must be the new smaller spider enemies i heard about." Then it started blasting me the same way the freaking final boss from Doom 1 was and I was nothing short of confused
Same as the first Doom, I didn't finished Doom II when I was a child. Instead, I was watching my father playing this and I remember, that I've always wanted to press that crusher switch and squish Spider Mastermind. Now I did it after all those years.
Excellent video as always my friend :D The next map is really hard because it's small with lots of powerful enemies but you will manage. See ya for your next video :)
If you want to kill all the enemies in the room with yellow key. There is a way to do it while only losing a small amount of your health. Face away from the yellow key and walk backwards onto it. You will still pick it up. As soon as you pick it up run towards the entrace door that brought you into the room. Go through it and it the other room. If you move quickly you will only get shot by one or two of the enemies. and they may even infight with each other if you are lucky. Then you just come into the room near the door and carefuly kill them one at a time. But do not go to far into the room otherwise they might surround you. If you stay close to the entrance door you can flee back into the other room again.
The formal introduction of both the Hell Knight and the Revenant to the Doom series as well as a reintroduction of the Spider Mastermind. Love your videos and hope you are doing well
Awwww, welcome back! A fine walkthrough, as always. I wasn't aware of that secret with a jump from the stairs (I'm kinda lazy with reading Doom Wiki XD), so thanks for that info!
It's great to be back. And thank you, I'm glad you find this Walkthrough fine. That secret with the stairs is very elusive. I can see how a lot of people can miss it.
We got Doom 2 back in 1995. My brother was a Ramones' fan and he bought their final cd in those days. In case you don't know, there's a song called like this level in that album. Needless to say, it became part of our soundtrack for this game :D
@@jesseinfinite g I'm bout to turn 17, I made that comment when I was 14, it's best just to realise I was an absolute idiot who thought they where smart because I knew the doom release date
That moment when you take care of all the baron of Hell (in my difficulty, they replace the Spiderdemon) and then turn around ,see a switch, push it and see that you used munitions for nothing...
Maaaaaan I LOVE this area Soundtrack......!!!!! Also I am Damm happy to know your channel. It helped me soooo much. Greetz from Germany and Turkey!!! 🇩🇪😎🇹🇷✌️
a little something you didn't mention; (if memory serves) if you walk underneath the crusher from the staircase it stops, if you teleport underneath it, it doesn't stop. i think the trigger for it stopping must be the top of the staircase
To keep in mind at 2:13, you have to kill those pinkies (if i spell it right LOL) because if you don't they will get in your way of jumping, sadly it effects the Z-part, of when you trying to run/jump... and 3:07 you could of made the jump back, i know you were trying to be safe of going the other way hehe. The only thing you forgot was when the exit bridge gets lifted, there is another door that leads back to the starting area, just in case you forgot something that when i would normally get the megasphere. (i think they wanted you to get 200% percent for the next level) But great video, and Welcome back, haven't seen you on for a while.
2:13 - Yes, in the original Doom II, jumping across the trench without killing the Pinkies (yes, it's spelled right, lol) can be tricky because of no Z-Axis. 3:07 - Yes, I actually try to make this Walkthrough as easy and stress-free as possible, and I know a lot of people can't strafe across gaps very well. That's why I went around. About the ending opening, I forgot to mention that, thank you. I never backtrack for the Megasphere, that's probably why I forgot to mention it. And thank you, I'm happy to be back.
So in summary: - A fight in a dark claustrophobic area where it feels like the enemies can come from anywhere. Also the game casually introduces a new enemy type. - Then puzzle-solving and platforming while dodging bullets and fireballs. - Then more fighting in the dark. - Then a corridor, it's packed with enemies but it feels relaxing after this. - Then a room with a nice little self-contained challenge. - Then some generic fighting in some small outdoor area. - Then a nasty trap that messes you up if you don't have an escape plan ready. Yeah... I didn't have a lot of fun with this one. It's suddenly tedious after the good clean fun of the previous levels, and it has no thematic coherence or cool overarching idea. It's a bunch of concepts some guy had and threw together for the lulz. Some of them are cool alright, but man does it suck to see how they were put together.
Well done, very entertaining as always, thanks again for the walkthroughs, I like to look at them AFTER I've done the map (I do DOOM 2 for the first time, but at HMP) I actually played No rest for the living first, I pester you again about doing a walkthrough on it haha

Yes, it's taken me about a week to get used to this new Google+ thing, but I have adjusted, yes. I really like the idea of using a crusher to kill the Spider Mastermind. It's always fun to do.
I remember when playing through this when I was a kid, on easier difficulties (not so sure about Hurt Me Plenty though), the Spider Mastermind is replaced with a Hell Knight!
Thanks for these helpfully informative videos, BigMac!....Maybe now that I've seen these, I'll actually have a fighting chance at beating every map without having to use the, "God Mode" cheat code!...lol
In the last teleport room after grabbing the yellow key I ran for the exit and then let the monsters infight, including with the spectres, opening the door and ripping the chaingun for a few rounds to give them a suggestion from time to time (hopefully they will respond to me by hitting each other and restarting the monster fight). By the end only the Knight and a few spectres were left. Saved a lot of ammo.
I thought this level was the coolest thing ever when I first played it. The fact that I got to not only see the revenant for the first time but also got crush a huge-ass enemy under, well, a crusher was fucking awesome!
I'm currently playing this on PS3 but I have played this on PC. I remember the Spider Mastermind being in this level but for some reason I came up against a bunch of Hell Knights instead. And I'm playing on the Hurt Me Plenty difficulty.
Yes, difficulty level is important. The Spider Mastermind is only there on Ultra Violence. Hurt Me Plenty has 3 or 4 Hell Knights, that's true. I can't remember what the other difficulty levels have.
Wow! I like that intermission music that plays so much better than the DOS version of Doom II my brothers and I once had. Also, nice bravery in using the Crusher to crush the Spiderdemon under it! Other traps can be pretty nasty, IMO, but nice vid anyway. :)
Lol I still remember the first time way back, when I tried to kill the Spider (or the many Knights of Hell at Hurt me Plenty), without knowing about the switch... "The Crusher'"... How stupid I felt afterwards. Such a great and fun map by the way. I like to kill the Imps at the ledge (the cages) by running straight to the end of it, turn around and shoot the hell out of them.
Assuming Dave is talking about people who are playing Doom II fresh. Coming from Thy Flesh Consumed, this wasn't so difficult. But then in most games, it isn't the enemies that are tough for me, it's the puzzling bits that get me every time.

I can’t seem to do that part where your at the top of the lift and have to fall onto that platform with the blue key card. Doom guy isn’t fast enough and can only barley not reach it. Is there any way to make Doom Guy move faster?
In some source ports, you can turn run on and off, I always play it with it on.
I’m playing this game again but I never beat this game or know of most secrets. This game is tireless as final fantasy 7 is
BigMacDavis,What IS a Revenant?
Thank you! I don't Knowed how to pass this level
you can also get the imps and the master mind to infight
Thank you, your back:) I played this map up to the giant crusher so many times, just to crush the mastermind.
I hate to ask this, are you gunna finish KOTOR?
Have you tried using that teleporter in the slime pit with the pinkies to telefrag the mastermind? That just occurred to me.
Mastermind won't leave its perch IIRC. Pinkies won't teleport either.
@@b.griffin317 I thought since the teleporter takes you to the crusher you could get her that way. But using the switch is probably safer regardless 😅
