    What a lovely treat! Stumbled on this channel and very much enjoyed the process for you so far. I live in a 1948 gem myself and it's been a labor of love so far! Thank you so much for sharing your process. Can't wait to see where your restoration will go!

    I swear, watching you sanding the exterior of the house is like watching my dad work on our 1954 ranch when I was a kid. The cowboy hat and shirt came straight from his wardrobe.

    This is such an inspiring series, I’m glad you decided to chronicle your efforts. The wood tones are fantastic inside, I hope the vapors dissipated quickly. Exterior color with the orange accents are very striking. Thank you for sharing. I’m looking forward to your future work and videos.

      I'm very glad your enjoying it. Yes, The fumes did dissipate fairly quickly.... but boy it was a rough week spreading all that poly, that's for sure!

    WOW beautiful!!!!! I live in a 1958 Mid-Century modern home myself. Giant picture (floor to ceiling) windows that allow flooding of natural light. All original woodwork, hardwood floors (covered in low pile Burberry cream carpet we aren't quite ready to let go of) original light fixtures and "oodles" of kitchen cabinets with authentic hardware. Some restoration has been done over the last 20 years, but much of the home is still authentic. The house is well loved. I appreciate the nostalgia (and history) of the home every single day. Thank you for allowing your viewers to share in the restoration process. I anxiously await upcoming episodes.

    Great series to watch. Thanks for the fun facts and explaining things. NP definitely had his own style, like oversized roofs, wood panel wall, pony wall... Glad you can look up old publications for a blue print of restoring this home.

    The 20-year old vinyl replacement windows installed by the previous owner are failing in my house, so I’m also currently building new wood windows to match what was originally installed. The design is simple to construct, but you are correct - 3/4 of the time is the finish work!
    I enjoy your videos. The subject matter is interesting, and it’s clear you put a lot of thought into the framing and composition of each shot.

    I am surprised at your choice of carpeting, although I understand that the Colorado winters are VERY cold. I ditched carpeting as an option in my own homes years' ago because hard flooring is so much easier to clean and doesn't need much in the way of maintenance. I do admire your commitment, though, to restoring this lovely old house.

    Cool house. It's great that you're saving it. Good job so far, keep going.
    Carpet though...ugh...high maintenance. I think I'd go with the original hardwood.

    You will have to share with us the exterior colors you’re using. 😊

    • @joshuarobinson7043
      @joshuarobinson7043  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely! All the colors on the exterior are the same as the interior.....The soffits, beams and columns are all SW exterior stain to match Minwax cherry 235 - Mission wall. The white fascia is SW Extra White, the Orange is SW Robust orange, and the Blue/Green is a color match to the original paint color.

    Level loop carpeting if not terrazzo floors or speckled VCT.

    • @joshuarobinson7043
      @joshuarobinson7043  16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That's right, VCT in the entrance, Kitchen, and Bath. But I'm going with a cut pile, not loop for the carpeting.

      Great eye!! There is a Witco Cat in the living room, the mask in the Mondrian is also Witco....but the cat sitting in the Kitchen is one of my pieces! They can actually be purchased at the link below. Mod Cuts by Jodi Robinson carries several of my tiki masks and several sculptures. www.etsy.com/listing/1711532373/tiki-sculpture-tiki-abstract-cat-tiki?click_key=9260831d0385ac9073b27d85bd857d3e4553b011%3A1711532373&click_sum=ff027fe0&ref=shop_home_feat_1&frs=1&sts=1

      @@joshuarobinson7043 Very nice! But do you ship to Japan is always the question! :P I'm renovating a 1985 Japanese beach house right now, and I have not been documenting it in video because it is a combined effort, partly professional, partly DIY. The period between the occupation period and the bursted bubble is an interesting time where you got a lot of MCM influences, so the house naturally feels MCM (and modernism itself drew heavily from Japanese design, so it's like a feedback loop). This period is known as Showa, and so even into the 80s you have stuff that looks like the 1960s. I even have original 1964 toothpick chair and love seat set that the original owner purchased during the Tokyo Olympics. The house also came with some 60s/70s appliances and stuff, and a few Cesca chairs. It's interesting how trends ebb and flow around the world.

    came across this in fb feed - wonder why you chose to go with the wide light switch (period incorrect) panel by the stairs?

    • @joshuarobinson7043
      @joshuarobinson7043  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good eye! While this is an architectural restoration.... ultimately the appliances, fixtures and several other things (like paddle switches) are distinctly not original. The language of those things is intentionally contemporary. Thanks for your comment.

      I love what he's done so far but...carpet? I hate that stuff. It's a maintenance headache.
