      100% agree. 10/10 fragrance. The cheap ones are over bearing sweet and don't have a balance blending. But this Althaïr is perfectly blended and works so good on my skin. Super addicting that's it's definitely going to be my top 3 favorite of all time

    I blind bought this fragrance and at first I was mesmerised by the gourmont notes, the phantasy of it being a mass appealing scent with a sensual name, easy to wear in different occasions without it being too obnoxious to overwhelm anyone but, in truth, it is a very, very safe release by PDM. A week later I bought Kalan and that is one bold horse. I would much rather wear Kalan and get, perhaps (if it comes to that) a conversation of dispute going with another than wear a well blended yet safe fragrance like Altair.
    Also, I've come to realize that PDM, compared to other niche perfumery brands like the outstanding Xerjoff, which I've tested numerous fragrances or theirs, is, to simply put it, a high quality designery "niche" brand. They do use high quality materiels but their blends, at least when it comes to their most popular fragrances such as Layton, Pegasus and now as I'm sure it will be, Altair are all very safe choices for the average consumer and it seems that PDM is targeting that demographic. I really enjoy PDM fragrances, I adore Layton Exclusif, which I consider to be the best of them all next to Oajan and Carlisle but when you purchase something this expensive, you need to be aware of a plethora of other either equally good or even better choices in other purfume houses for the same price and you also need to be aware of what exactly it is are you're buying and for what reason, to suit which purpose, what narrative and so on. In any case, if your not really into perfumery and you want a well blended safe fragrance from a not so common ( compared to designer brands primarily of course) but recognizable house (so you feel good about yourself), then Altair is a solid and fun fragrance with appeal BUT one that is NOT up to the standards of a niche fragrance.

    • @jts4248
      @jts4248 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You know pdm,initio is my favorite house I have tried a bunch of different ones out here. You are right pdm makes it safe to wear and love or like. I have been reading a lot about pdm they are niche cause they use high quality oils and have one of the best around. Not all their fragrance are designer niche is what some people say why do they say cause it smells like others? I know some they got that doesn't smell like anything out here and people copy them. Just because some might smell like something els doesn't make it a designer niche I don't believe that because of the oils that they use is high quality. What makes it niche hard to get or hey don't smell like this or we will be designer niche bull shit

      @@jts4248 Brother, I didnt write the comment to you! It was for the original poster! I fully agree with you, PDM is Absolutely, without any question, niche. PDM does niche fragrances, period. As you correctly stated, the ingredients used are high quality and very nice smelling. Also, I dare people to smell a layton exclusif or carlisle or haltane, and tell me thats not niche. It's as niche as it gets. Haltane is my favourite currently, what a masterpiece of a fragrance. Cheers!

    There was a tester bottle at my local dealer, next to it Oajan. Tried both and Althaïr gave me Pegasus (metallic) vibes, while Oajan seemed warmer and more versatile to wear.

  • @daniellabuda7744
    @daniellabuda7744 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I haven't smelled it yet, but I will definitely do it. It seems to be built upon some more expensive naturals and inspired by designer mass-appealing sweet amber scents. I would be not surprised at all, if I would find that they blended two popular well established designer dnas in cosmetics and made some transformations, inversions and modified them by naturals and some more interesting aroma-chemicals, improved a structure and smoothness. I bet, some interesting and clever chemical work was done in Althaiir.
    Maybe a winning mass-appeal combination (Coumarin, Vanillin, Ethyl Maltol, Ambroxan) was used, some expansive ambers like Javanol, Ambermax and of course, their well blended Musk accord. If yes, then nothing strange that it smells just delicious for majority of people. Very nice review, Omar. Very appreciated. Today people want more sweet and nice mass-appeal, not necessarily something creative and complex. So, I think, that Althaiir can be a massive profit success for the brand, especially because of cooperation with skillful perfumers and higher budget costs involved in the formula.

    Everybody has become too spoiled and poisoned by the Fragrance community. This fragrance smells absolutely fantastic. I have smelled both fragrances that they compare this to and they are 100% the same. One can say the same thing about Oriana And don’t be shy. But honestly, what the fuck is the point? I guarantee you you don’t say that when you buy a pair of Nikes and those shoes are completely overpriced as well And everyone buys into the hype of those. The fragrance smells amazing and Projects extremely well. The one thing I respect is that he says this is his opinion, and everyone is entitled to that. But what something is worth Is merely opinion. I have black Interlude, and I have althair I get double triple the compliments off althair. I’ve actually had a few people be repulsed by black iris, even though I like it

      I could not agree with you more.
      There is a difference between smelling good and smelling unique.
      When you wanna smell good there is only so much you can do,
      Most of the fragrances that make you smell good have vanilla,amber,citrus,fruits,(maybe tobacco,rum, chocolate if done right) that's pretty much it.
      How creative can you be with these notes?! They will smell eventually a bit similar to one another.
      People in the fragrance community gets way too nitpicky about these things. They will say that they wear fragrances for themselves but most viewed videos are of girls reacting to fragrances. 😂 Then proceed to say,"these people have no taste, it's the best fragrance."

    I wanted to hate this one Sooooo bad. So bad that I purchased Absolute Aphrodisiac instead of it. Then...I caught a whiff of it at Dillard's and...thought...hmmmm.. Then I picked up some Althair perfume oil and gave it a wear at an All white party. Compliment Banannas. Lastly in complete rebellion I purchased Liquid Brun and I've been Blown Away by the responses. I own Layton, Percival, Oajan and as mentioned earlier Absolute Aphrodisiac. None of them garner the responses that the Althair DNA does. (Percival came closest). I STILL wouldn't buy the Original. But the DNA...just WORKS. Sorry. But this fragrance is kinda Amazing.

    I understand the desire on the part of many for PdM to be more "niche," but the truth remains that they need people to buy their fragrances. More 'difficult' or 'challenging' fragrances have their place (and I absolutely adore most of them) but so do fragrances that have mass appeal (and compliment power). PdM does the best job of any house of which I'm aware of making these sorts of frags, but not formulating them to a strict (read: cheap as possible) price point for department store counters. They perform like they a good fragrance should.
    That being said, I think Althair is boring and can't think of a single scenario where I would want to wear Althair where I wouldn't be happier wearing Carlisle or Herod. I don't dislike it because it's mass appealing, I just think it's kinda boring. 6/10 is right.

    • @SchoolOfScent
      @SchoolOfScent  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I think that’s right, Althair gets cloying while Royal is more consistent, is better priced and doesn’t feel like it’s stealing ideas from designer scents. It’s a fair critique that Mancera do have overlapping scent profiles within their own brand but that’s a different point.

    • @joseg8498
      @joseg8498 ปีที่แล้ว

      @SchoolofScent well i have smelled both, and I think Mancera royal Vanilla its basically every mancera / montale vanilla heavy fragrance for the same price. And if you have a few mancera / montale fragrance buying royal vanilla is basically throwing your money away. For that just save that money and buy parfums de marly althair. Does althaïr have a designer vibe? yes but it does it very well and at a higher quality and scent trail. So giving royal vanilla a 9 out of 10 is a completely joke. It should definitely lose points for smelling like any other mancera / montale fragrance.
