hey thanks for reviewing my app! kinda explaining the music stuff, my orchestra is really small (took a big hit after covid) only has about 12-13 members. So 2nd violin is the part in the music and I am 1st chair (moved up to co-concertmaster this year), not many people in my school are interested in tech and stem since it's an arts magnet school 😭😭 (art, dance, music) my magnet is instrumental music so thats why most of my ecs are music, but ive grown an interest in comp sci. Also I've seen applications for music performance and I would say it's at the same or even more competitive than comp sci at most schools, I'm not at that caliber yet 💀 . But thanks for the feedback, I'll definitely start working on the nhs stuff and the club 🔥
If you have some capstone projects in Comp sci / EECS that relate to music you could talk about that in your essay and I think that would really help bridge the gap if you plan on applying as comp sci Like maybe a project where you identified some problem while playing music, some in efficiency or you couldn't find a specific adjustment for a metronome app and you built the app yourself and that bloomed your passion for comp sci Or maybe you built something for disabled people to listen to music through haptics Idk just some ideas
@@nd4000 thanks! right now I'm working on an app that provides music learning resources for those who are starting out learning instruments or don't have the money to pay for lessons, would that be good?
Bro 2nd violin does not mean 2nd chair or 2nd best 💀 It’s a whole different section with different music and 2nd violin does not always mean worse than first violin. Think of 2nd violin as a different instrument all together like a cello or viola
These college app reviews were really deep and informative, hopefully you do more in the future! (I may also submit mine once I am in junior/ senior year)
I like how you are so honest in the application process. This is so helpful, and thank you for the great reminder that each of us is on our own journey and path. We should not compare ourselves to others.
Hey there, this is a great and very informational video, first time you and in my feed and I am subbed now! Is there any where recent subs and people that cant pay for consultation can fill out a form like this?
The first guy had a 3.4 GPA but he was in the top 20%. Doesnt that mean that his course is hard? They were from India so I expect those students to have their GPA deflated. Do colleges know about this? Or do they only care about the GPA.
Great question. Having a 3.4 GPA and being in the top 20% means that his class was uncompetitive. However it could also mean that his course was hard, without more context I wouldn’t be 100% sure. Also just because they were from an Indian school doesn’t mean their gpa is deflated. They only care about your gpa relative to your peers
