We used to sing this one with my father when we were really young and I found this thanks to my brother.
My father is long gone, but what a pleasure after so many years hearing these words and melody again. It brings back something alive. It brings it back from the deepest core of heart.

At the end of the first month at sea the crew would start to earn their pay (having had the first month’s wages in advance, often to pay debts run up in port). This would be celebrated by creating a stuffed canvas horse, which would be paraded around the ship three times at dusk by a solemn candlelight procession. It was then hoisted on a rope to the topmost yardarm where the youngest member of the crew would cut the rope on cue, dropping the horse into the sea.

Poor Old Man, yes, indeed one of the best tracks ever, It is glorious in sound and execution. I've been in love with this one for years.

Ohhhhhh beautiful long sad times of the times when this LP came out ! The painful time it was has waned, and I am again, completely in the thrall of the Albion Band !

This is called 'Poor Old Horse', a track from 'Rise Up Like The Sun'. Epic, quintessential folk-rock.

A superb track and one I certainly wouldn't mind being played at my funeral, when the time comes. And believe it or not, this was a big favourite of John Peel when it was first released...

Electric fiddling by the brilliant Ric Sanders. Look for the Albion's "Gresford Disaster" - epic

This is heavier than anything metallica ever did.
