Vincent Gardenia should have gotten an Emmy for his portrayal of J. Edgar Hoover. He captures Hoover's speech, mannerisms, and even his physical looks perfectly. He is truly the stand-out actor in this series!
J Edgar Hoover " There is no organized mafia " The mafia was blackmailing Hoover over his homosexuality for decades. He had a " roommate " Mr. tolleffson for about 40 years
Here I sit nearly fifty years later remembering, with the same loathing, Hoover and LBJ. I can still hear the chanting. LBJ LBJ how many kids did you kill today.
There is not a shred of evidence LBJ was behind the assassination, he also got all of Kennedys ideas through, rebranded as the Great Society: medicare, medicaid, model cities, environmental protection, civil rights. He was able to do this because he was much better than JFK at working congress. He was terrible on Vietnam but we don't know if JFK would have stuck to his withdrawal policy had he lived, afterall he did say "bear any burden to assure the success of liberty" and the domino theory of communism spreading if not stopped in Asia, moving to Japan and the US, was big then
Gardenia is so out of character as J.Edgar Hoover as opposed to his more likable role as Frank Lorenzo in "All in the Family" that his performance works 😆
Every actor in this series was absolutely phenomenal. This was so brilliantly directed. WoW. 🏆
