    You know, I've been waiting and waiting for the iPhone to improve to the point where I can leave my Sony cameras at home during travel. While there's still great benefit to lugging it around for true depth of field bokeh, and a larger sensor for much greater low-light performance, videos like yours make me feel like we're there. I've been holding on to my 12 Pro Max for some time now but I think I'm ready to jump back in for the 16 in a few months time. Amazing work, impressive grading and composing.

    • @antnguyen

      Just to nerd out for a moment, you're shooting ProRes via the Blackmagic app, with the Sandmarc 58mm and nd. Edits on Davinci but no dehancer. How are you attaching the nd to the sandmarc, and also, it seems you have a bit of halation happening in the highlights. Is that a product of the sandmarc or is that produced in post? Again, nice work sir

    • @antnguyen

      @@vedroelcitra Damn. Okay. I was comparing it with the moment lens equivalent but since I'll be shooting film as well in Japan come November, I think I'll lean into what Sandmarc has to offer. Love your work, hope you blow up soon, highly underrated channel right now.

    Over here trying to not ball my eyes out during the 02. sequence. Nostalgic, gentle, and soft. Great stuff!
    I'm going in November and this sold my on going the route of filming with an iPhone 15 Pro. Were you using a tripod on the locked off shots? What case / grip were you using?

    • @vedroelcitra
      @vedroelcitra  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thank you, Shiraoi is such a nice small town.
      You can do with any camera you're comfortable with, with iPhone just means that you don't need to bring any other gear.
      Just stay as steady with your hand, Davinci can do "camera lock" effect for you so you don't need to bring tripod.
      My setup is Sandmarc 58mm + their case that comes with it, and a Manfrotto smart phone clamp for extra grip

    • @vedroelcitra

      You can only do an overlay for the aspect ratio as a guide. The footage you get will still be in 16:9. THen when you edit you put another overlay layer. Hope it helps

    holy, the quality is amazing! may I ask how much of a difference the 58mm extra lens made? i'm a beginner trying to get into iphone videography :)

    • @gksecond
      @gksecond 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      oh and also as someone travelling to Japan as well, is it difficult to learn how to expose properly on the go (i'm assuming ISO and the ND filter are the two things we need to adjust for the most part right?) , or would you say it is a fairly simple process to kind of point and shoot in a way?

    • @vedroelcitra
      @vedroelcitra  17 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@gksecond If you're still new, I suggest just go with the built in iPhone lens, play with it and see how you get used to it. It can still give you amazing quality. The 58mm is just "cherry on top".
      If I have to choose, I'd take the ND filter over the 58mm lens anytime. ND will give you the motion blur, that will set your videos apart from "the amateur phone look".
      It's not as simple as point and shoot. But once you get used to it, it'll be pretty easy and you know how to anticipate the moments. Personally, I was quite frantic using it for the first day, but after that it was fine. Give some time to build your muscle memory to operate it, if that makes sense.
      Yes, most of the time only adjust the ISO and the ND filter.
      Enjoy your Japan trip!
