The New Super Mario Bros. Wii game was one of my favourite games to play with my siblings growing up. The chaos we'd get into, throwing each other off the map, speedrunning whole levels and leaving the others behind, going into a bubble whenever it was too hard (or just because we felt like it) so that the best of us could carry the team to the end, it was so much fun! I don't know how fun it would be alone (and I admit that the graphics don't really have the charm that other Mario games do) so I respect your opinion, but it will forever remain a cherished childhood memory of mine.

I personally really enjoyed New Super Mario Bros Wii. The level where you ride on the bone dragon in world 8 is the most memorable part of the game to me. It's nowhere near as great of a game as Super Mario World but it is fun and I still like to replay it every so often.
I was thinking the same thing. I'd always wondered if he actually buried the game, and now I'm left feeling all the more like that actually did happen, and he then completely forgot about it.
PBG's Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth experience is very similar to that time I bought rise of the tomb raider thinking it was the first in the reboot trilogy, only to later learn it was the second.
I think a MASSIVE part of why Switch Sports and Mario Golf Run Around feel so soulless is that Nintendo has optimized out explorable spaces. Everyone who had ever told me anything about Wii Sports says the best part is WooHoo Island, aka THE RESORT. And I personally have spent countless hours exploring every nook and cranny of Mario Golf Advanced Tour’s overworld, from my childhood to today. Menus to get to game modes is all we ever get these days, I guess because it’s efficient, but it’s not fun. No one has ever gotten lost in a menu for hours and been happy about it. The response to the “soulless-ness” that you mentioned is that what we really want is Peach’s Castle, Gruntilda’s Lair, Advanced Tour’s club house and overworld, or really ANY explorable, (technically) liminal space for us to unwind in in between the core gameplay of any of these titles. Think about Splatoon 1, 2, & 3 and how much time we’ve all spent exploring their plazas!! And how each one was slightly bigger than the last. There was rarely anything meaningful to DO in them, so many little charming corners to see and imagine yourself actually being near. We want more of THAT.
You're so right about this, the thing that made wii sports resort so special was how interconnected everything was. If you go for a bike ride, you can see the sword fight arena off in the distance. If you get into a plane, you can see the place you just biked down. The island had character to it, and you were invited to explore it through all the different modes. Now we just have a menu for 6 games with higher production value than the original wii sports, but none of the personality that we expect. There's no character, so there's nothing for us to want to come back to. It's also not a pack-in game, so it can't ride the "everyone just has it!" wave.
new super mario bros wii was amazing if you played it with your family. it's an okay single player game, but the joy comes from the chaos of the 2-4 player experience. and arguably it's the best of the series of NSMB series
I will defend New Super Mario Brothers. It was a Wii game my sister and I grew up playing together. We had so many hours on that game, and I've got a lot of fond memories from playing it. So I think it's awesome!
Funny story about The Conduit: I was at a Boy Scout week-long summer camp when I was a lil teen. We weren't allowed to bring anything electronic, but I was allowed to bring comics and magazines. I brought some Mario/Zelda comics that I really loved and the brand-new Nintendo Power magazine that just came out. For 7 excruciating days, I read that mag front to back with new games that were coming out, and the two I was most excited for were Scribblenauts and The Conduit. I legit couldn't believe that there was a game that could give you whatever noun you could ever want, as well as another game that was a legit fps on the Wii. Keep in mind GoldenEye didn't come out yet, and RedSteel was our only option. I waited so long for that game, and the drive home got me so excited to play it. Ngl, I played the hell out of that game, both single player and online. If I recall it was hard as hell, but still really fun. It felt like a callback to old-school PC retro shooters. Once GoldenEye came out, I did not touch that game since. The story, local/online, and paintball mode in GoldenEye were just too damn fun.
Loved this video! But also, I have to come clean: I'm sick of the Luigi's Mansion 3DS remake slander 😤 I played Luigi's Mansion 1 on GameCube for the first time last year and loved it, immediately understood why it was so beloved. Then I played Dark Moon. Then, before playing LM3 I decided to follow the release order strictly and play the 3DS Remake. I was expecting the worst because of how often I've heard you say it was awful... It's the same game. Like it's genuinely almost *identical*. It controls a little worse because of it being on the 3DS of course. But other than that I think it's one of the most faithful remakes I've ever played. In the past you've said it removes all the charm of the original, and I genuinely don't see how that's possible because it's almost a complete 1:1 remake. I was flabbergasted lol. My best guess is that so much of the experience is tied specifically playing it on the GameCube for a lot of people, because again, the game itself is practically unchanged. Seriously I recommend anyone who wants the game on the go to give it a shot. PBG you should give it another shot too. Or hell even play it back-to-back with the original just to see. Normally that'd be ridiculous to suggest but the game is so short it's actually feasible lol
You know what I can respect your opinion. I still think that New Super Mario Bros. Wii is worth playing and still consider one of the great 2D Mario games.
I can't respect his opinion. His opinion was terrible, completely invalid, he put no thought into it, he put no legitimate reasoning into it, it's not a critique, it's hate. He's being a blind hater with intentionally bad reasoning. It's another way of saying he's being an unfair troll and he doesn't care. He even says he knows he's probably wrong and doesn't even care enough to put any thought into whether or not he IS wrong or unfair. He's spitting ignorant bile that he knows is ignorant bile and then can't even be bothered to back his opinion up with any reason at all. That kind of opinion does not deserve any respect in the slightest.
@@teruienages962 Apparently people do that exact same thing you described with Problem Solverz, having not even watched it past the first episode, and get praised for it, so props to you for knowing your limits
For FFVII Rebirth you do not HAVE to buy the first game. It does a ***The Story So Far*** optional choice in the beginning menu before you Contunie or Load Game.
Ironically the devs of GrimGrimoire (Vanillaware) did another RTS/SRPG game called Unicorn Overlord just a few months ago and it’s absolutely fantastic and of course is beautiful.
Little King Story is an absolute gem of a game. It's pretty much how you summed it up but the characters are so rememberable and the story is so wholesome.
I actually really enjoyed the My Sims Series when i was a kid. I think your Issue with it is probably that you were a grown adult or teenager playing a game that is clearly meant for 8 year olds.
New Super Mario Bros Wii is a really fun game, but I feel like you have to play it with some other people. A lot of people complain that it was too similar to the DS game, but the addition of multiplayer is actually huge. The mechanics (bumping into the other players, picking them up and throwing them, etc.) was like perfected. Would have made a good PB&Jeff playthrough, maybe with the addition of some other friends too for players 3 and 4.
Minecraft Wii U was a big part of my childhood, since it was basically the only system I had that could run it. I fondly remember staying up all night playing the unique console minigames, battle mode in particular.
It is nothing more then a Soulless cash grab on one of the most iconic games on the original wii. In fact that is all that this is is just a complete and total re skin of wii sports just in hd with the exact same amount of content as what wii sports had. Nothing more then a cheap way to capitalise on people's nostalgia. If it was a launch title or maybe costed 10 to 15 bucks then no complaints would be had but the fact that Nintendo had the gall to charge 40 bucks for this which might I add is more money than both wii sports and resort combined is laughably insulting. This deserves every bit of criticism that it got.
It's a generic, wonderbread, safe, souless game (that goes for the two NSMB games that came after) that does next to nothing to separate itself from the original outside of four player co-op. Only the first game actually tried new things, every game after is just the definition of bland and basic. It's the case of a game being well designed and being competently made not making up for how absolutely stale it is.
@@okagronIf you had at least three players, I found that it was completely worth the purchase, if for no other reason than you could friggin’ pick up and throw the other players off the stage, but also because multiplayer side scrolling Mario on the Wii was just a lot of fun, when you had a few mates or relatives or the like around~
I had a heart attack when he showed little king’s story, I absolutely loved this one as a kid. Was so cool building up your kingdom and then going out on the main story quests with your soldiers snd watching them all die as you throw then all at a boss you aren’t supposed to be fighting yet.

Little King's Story is probably one of my personal all-time favorites. Its been done real dirty by both the remake and the steam port, but the original wii game is amazing
There aren’t many games that I regret buying now that I think about it, but if I had to name one it would be call of duty modern warfare back in 2019. I don’t dislike the game, but it’s definitely one of those games that I get more motivated to play when I have friends playing it, and unfortunately my friends just weren’t that interested in COD anymore. Because of that, my motivation to play it eventually died off as well
11:45 I wouldn't say I am a New Super Mario Bros defender, but I did enjoy it. It certainly was a game that you beat once and the never touch again though. I remember being excited about it because they were bringing back the Koopalings after a long hiatus. But the they were not Bowser's children anymore, just minions. The Koopa Troopa's dancing to the level music is probably the most memorable part of the game lol.
Peebs, of COURSE I remember The Conduit! Before the game had come out people were talking about how realistic the graphics were, especially for the Wii! This prompted one user to type out the once infamous question: "Has Anyone Really Been Far Even as Decided to Use Even Go Want to do Look More Like?" That's right, that came from a Conduit forum post, and is how I will always remember that game. (Lord knows nothing else interesting came of it)
What the hell does that quote even mean? Because I see English words, but that's not English. As in I've consistently seen more coherency in the several Google-translated rom hacks I've played.
@gurvmlk the incoherence is why it became a meme in the first place. Best anyone can figure is the poster was trying to ask something like "Has any developer ever gone this far to make life-like graphics?"
Ah, yes, I remember buying the game Grimorimore the same reason you did. I liked the cover. And while I was disappointed by the gameplay too, I kept playing because the characters, the story, the music, and yes the beautiful art hooked me in. And I got a kick out of how every character is named by an alcohol drink. And if anyone watches the opening of the game with the beautiful visuals and the lovely music... it just wowed me! Loved everything expect the gameplay itself - wish it had a different one.
One of my biggest complaints with Nintendo Switch Sports was that the game always made you play online. the Sports games in the past had always been so relaxing. But now you have to compete and if you don't have Nintendo online you were basically screwed
If you like Pikmin at all, you owe it to yourself to play Little King’s Story. Easily one of my favorite Wii games…and sadly the last we ever saw of Cing. (I do love the New Super Mario games, but I was always playing with friends or siblings. I doubt I’d have such fond memories playing alone.)
i remember when i was a kid my sims was one of my favorite games and pbg was my favorite youtuber (still is) and when i found out he didn’t like my sims i was genuinely distraught😭
For the love of god DO NOT play FF7 Remake without playing the original FF7 first! The "Remake" is not a "Remake" - It is a timeline split / multi dimensional retelling that ret-cons, spoils and changes the entire story. It is not intended to be played on it's own. Remake literally makes no sense on it's own and you are going to be lost. You have to play the original first. I personally do not recommend that anybody plays Remake or Rebirth. Just skip them entirely and play the Steam version of FF7 with mods.
the starfield rant is specifically how i felt about xenoblade x, it sunk into my head that my purchase of a wii u was a failure, wandering around getting lost in geometry, and i went back to splatoon 1
I never played any of the Conduit games. Yes there is a Conduit 2. The only thing I remember about them is seeing the bat shit insane ending to Conduit 2. George Washington and Abraham Lincoln walk out of some stargate looking portal wearing power armor and saying we are here to help then it cuts to the credits. It's one of the strangest things I have ever seen in a video game LOL
Most regretted game purchase to this day is Dear Esther. Steam advertised it to me as being like Amnesia, so I bought it. I got 10 minutes in and my laptop shut off randomly. Booted it back up, played the game, got to the 10 minute mark and my laptop shut off again. Doing research it was just a walking sim too with no spooky anything. This was YEARS before Steam had the ability to do refunds too. To this day, I see it in my Steam library and feel that pang of disappointment. And then Steam had the GALL to give me the "Landmark Edition" for free without telling me so now I have two versions of it giving me twice the annoyance.
OOOO The Conduit! It was my favorite wii game back then lol. I was really friggin good at the multiplayer of that game lol. I remember the jank, escaping the map, the glitches, weapon fusing.. the dreaded lamp post... if you know, you know. BTW there was The Conduit 2. Had a gun that could oneshot you throuhg walls lol. Fun times
The only thing I remember about the conduit is it is responsible for my favorite meme "Has Anyone Really Been Far Even as Decided to Use Even Go Want to do Look More Like?"
Thank God I’m not the only one who regrets buying Starfield, I mostly regret is because I bought it for 70$ new, for my brand new Series X. Yeah that wasn’t a great way to introduce myself to the Xbox.
i remember The Conduit. Mostly because the 4chan thread about the game before release is the origin of the line: "Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?"
Awesome channel! Been watching for years and am still a huge fan of Peanut Butter Gamer/Peebs content. Thanks for the awesome vids over all these years. One of my favorite TH-cam content to watch.
My brothers and I really liked the coop wave multiplayer in Conduit 2. Little King's Story was a lot of fun, at least at the time. It'd be worth playing I think. It's really weird and good for video content
Yeah starfield is def one of the worst games to waste your time in. Played it for 32 hours and was able to get a refund. Devs were also gaslighting customers as well, really bad taste
I'd say yes, play Little King's story. I remember i had fun with it, its a very underrated game and hidden gem. It's not the greatest game ever, but I think you could easily get a video out of it. It's a pikman clone for sure, but its done right with well executed ideas that make it stand out. New Sups are fun co-op games, but they're dull single player experiences. They're too... safe... they're very by-the-numbers and there's just not much actual meat on the bones, but the chaos that comes from even one extra player can make all that trivial.
Totally regret buying Mario maker, I don't have internet and play alone on my switch, I basically bought it for nostalgia reasons and because there was huge hype on TH-cam. I feel so stupid for wasting so much money on an online game, played for like an hour maybe and felt sad after :(
I had the 3DS version, which didn't even *have* an internet option. Kinda. You can make levels and send them to friends that also own the 3DS version, but you can't play worldwide levels like the Wii U version or the second game. Instead, if you were like me and didn't know anyone else with a 3DS copy, the only levels you were allowed to play besides your own were a bunch of easy default levels the developers made themselves, and each of them had "achievements" you could do, and doing enough of those was how you unlocked more stuff for your levels that, again, no one except you would be able to play anyway. ... Yeah, internet connection or not, the Wii U version's better.
@@nightmare4lol That sounds terrible, honestly. I know that's a thing in all other versions too, I just mean that you can't even pick the level you're playing, it's just all random.
i will go on record to say minecraft for wii u is genuinely a really good game! legacy console (360, ps3, wii u) is the my favorite version of minecraft. it has a lot of content without all of the modern mc feature bloat
Minecraft of the Wii U was actually really awesome. Miiverse made it so much more enjoyable, being able to share your own and see other people's builds easily online. I do wish it made use of the Wii U's features more like letting you use the gamepad to manage your inventory, but even without that it was still one of the most solid ways to play the Console Edition of Minecraft, a version of the game that was just really fun no matter what platform. And it actually WORKED unlike the Bedrock Edition currently available on the Switch.
I’m not a New Super Mario Bros defender, I’m a New Super Mario Bros _Wii_ defender, because, in my opinion, it was actually the best out of the whole lineup. New Super Mario Bros for the DS is boring and the Wii U and Switch ones are just the same things again, but the Wii one was actually chock full of charm and the whole “shaking the wiimote thing to spin/twirl” was great in my opinion. I actually think that, aside from the art style being identical to the DS game before it, it was actually very innovative with its new power ups and mechanics that weren’t present in any previous game. I feel like the fact that they made every 2D Mario game after the Wii one identical to it really took the charm away and makes the Wii game more boring if you’re playing it after Nintendo has already released the slop fests that are the Wii U and Switch games, since they were created to be basically identical to it. However, from the perspective of the time that it was released, where the only other “New” Mario game before it was the boring DS one, it was very innovative. It is way better to play with friends/family, though. I had four siblings, so maybe I’m biased because I never played it alone. Anyways I totally understand that it doesn’t interest you though, considering that Nintendo ruined it by making every game after it basically the same, but at the time it actually was pretty awesome Being tired of all the same-y-ness is the reason I like Wonder so much though. The later games really made me extremely bored of the art style and mechanics that had previously charmed me.
I will never forget the time when I was in Middle school and I bought the NASCAR 2011 game on Wii and even got a NASCAR themed Wii Wheel only to find an absolute abomination of a racing game. Some of the worst controls and graphics I had seen in my life. Pretty sure it’s the only game I bought that I refunded.
It's even rougher when you're that age. Because it's not like you have a job, and can just go out and buy a new game with your next pay check if you didn't like one you got previously (assuming your income allows it). Especially if you don't have much of an allowance, that crappy game you got could be what you're stuck with for months.
18:29 after Fallout 4 and especially after seeing 76, I instantly told my friends Starfield was gonna be boring trash. I NEVER looked at gameplay or even the launch trailer, I heard it was their next game and just said those words instinctually. Then it came out and they all tried to cope and eventually they all came around. Still funny to me to think about.
NSMB Wii defender here. Definitely enjoyed this game for hours on end with family and friends. Co-op play didn't exist in the older 2D Mario games, so to have a full Mario game where four players could enjoy the game at the same time was quite memorable. LETSA GO!!!
The Conduit games were not good, but the cliff hanger ending of 2 where Abraham Lincoln and George Washington come out of a portal in Warhammer 40k space marine armour to recruit you was bonkers.

It’s literally perfect for family play; I’m so glad all of us here had pretty much the exact same experience~
Big and empty
I will defend New Super Mario Brothers. It was a Wii game my sister and I grew up playing together. We had so many hours on that game, and I've got a lot of fond memories from playing it. So I think it's awesome!
I swear if the Zelda cdi games are here
How could I could I possibly regret picking up those classics??
@@Peebs I know CDI games are the best
Oh boy!
Funny story about The Conduit:
I was at a Boy Scout week-long summer camp when I was a lil teen.
When does the story get funny
@@devarient :(
YES!!! Little kings story is a hidden gem. The humor and gameplay are awesome! It's like an RPG Pikmin
I really love those more laid-back PBG videos they cut down on the sketches and goes more into the subject at hand while having pretty nice editing
I'm guessing PBG only played on co-op since the lag during co-op is the only thing he talked about lol
New Super Mario Bros Wii had the Cloud Land Theme. I would just sit there in the game and let the song play. Loooove it
For FFVII Rebirth you do not HAVE to buy the first game.
I honestly love these unscripted videos where you talk/ramble/rant about video games! I hope you do many more! 😊
People have been digging them so far, so I think we'll keep doing them! :)
I miss PB and Jeff. Great times. Great video, too, though!
Little King Story is an absolute gem of a game. It's pretty much how you summed it up but the characters are so rememberable and the story is so wholesome.
"I Love me an ugly old lady or two- or three even."
-Peebs, 2024
6:51 grandma jumpscare warning
The random clip of Mario and Link kissing has to be the highlight lol
NSMB Wii slander is insane
It is nothing more then a Soulless cash grab on one of the most iconic games on the original wii. In fact that is all that this is is just a complete and total re skin of wii sports just in hd with the exact same amount of content as what wii sports had. Nothing more then a cheap way to capitalise on people's nostalgia. If it was a launch title or maybe costed 10 to 15 bucks then no complaints would be had but the fact that Nintendo had the gall to charge 40 bucks for this which might I add is more money than both wii sports and resort combined is laughably insulting. This deserves every bit of criticism that it got.
@@dominicwilson9467 Wasn't it also the game where a lot of the gamemodes got added later? As some kind of DLC?
@@dominicwilson9467 Wrong game. The op was referring to New Super Mario Bros. Wii, not Nintendo Switch Sports.
In other words, buyer's remorse.....I think it happens to most people.

I had the exact same experience with Spore when i played it. The game suffers from a huge identity crisis and it really hurt the game. Most people i've seen either like the first or second half but you rarely see someone that loves all parts
lol that description of how playing Myst as a kid and figuring out 1 thing thinking you beat the Myst is so true.
12:26 I'd recommend playing Little King Story. I had a fun time with it way back when
Little King's Story is probably one of my personal all-time favorites. Its been done real dirty by both the remake and the steam port, but the original wii game is amazing
"If you do, let me know." Of course I remember The Conduit, and Conduit 2. I loved those games, lol.
Absolutely play little king's story, it's great and charming
I loved spore as a kid, spent hours on it just making creatures. Its weird to go back and see just how quickly you can get thru it
Peebs, of COURSE I remember The Conduit! Before the game had come out people were talking about how realistic the graphics were, especially for the Wii! This prompted one user to type out the once infamous question: "Has Anyone Really Been Far Even as Decided to Use Even Go Want to do Look More Like?"
That's right, that came from a Conduit forum post, and is how I will always remember that game.
My sims was such a nostalgia trip as a kid. Was the gameplay not that great of course, but I’d totally go back and revisit it
Ah, yes, I remember buying the game Grimorimore the same reason you did.
26:12 LMAO love this era of youtube
Little Kings Story is indeed a pikman clone but the game itself is very charming and enjoyable. I was always a fan of the OST in this game personally
The Starfeild one. Honestly look like jumpscares you'd see in indie horror games.
Little King's Story is actually pretty solid. I'd recommend it if you like Pikmin.
The first MySims was okay but Agents and Racing were a major part of my childhood
Peebs My Sims videos were my childhood!! I CANNOT be the only one! 😭💕
i remember when i was a kid my sims was one of my favorite games and pbg was my favorite youtuber (still is) and when i found out he didn’t like my sims i was genuinely distraught😭
The Top 100 - just, broke me I was so frustrated with it, knowing what it could have been.....
You will break that vow tho, callin it now
Bro could you imagine a pbg x Scott the woz colab. I think TH-cam as a platform would actually peak at that point
Fun times
I had no issues with Luigi's Mansion on 3DS, my wife and I played through the entire thing without any lag.
You absolutely slept on Little King's Story and should give it a play when you feel like some pikmin
i remember The Conduit. Mostly because the 4chan thread about the game before release is the origin of the line:
"Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?"

My brothers and I really liked the coop wave multiplayer in Conduit 2.
Little King's Story was a lot of fun, at least at the time. It'd be worth playing I think. It's really weird and good for video content

The MySims slander continues nooo. The enjoyment of that game really is the furniture creation. I was expecting Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival!
This is the first collab I’ve ever purchased from and I’m so excited! 🎉
Totally regret buying Mario maker, I don't have internet and play alone on my switch, I basically bought it for nostalgia reasons and because there was huge hype on TH-cam. I feel so stupid for wasting so much money on an online game, played for like an hour maybe and felt sad after :(
Thats unfortunate. If you had internet I guarentee it would be a different experience
@@ethnictendo 3ds ver did have internet option. if you did 100 man challenge it would pull random levels from wii u ver

Wii sports is how i got my grandma to fake box me 😂 , i miss wii sports era of life
New Super Mario Bros. is so good, probably the most surprising take on this list.
I hear a lot of good things about Little King's Story for the Wii, possibly being a "hidden gem", so I'd give it a try.
Anyways I totally understand that it doesn’t interest you though, considering that Nintendo ruined it by making every game after it basically the same, but at the time it actually was pretty awesome
Being tired of all the same-y-ness is the reason I like Wonder so much though. The later games really made me extremely bored of the art style and mechanics that had previously charmed me.
There’s only one game that I regret buying - a game that was my first brush with heartbreak - a game with Stickers.
Same bro. I was so excited too.
Moooom, why is my food TH-camr talking about video games?
What Peebs missed with Grimgrimoire is that prices dropped hard with the recent release for that game on switch.
Makes sense! Didn't know about the remake until some comments brought it up.
oh it was ported to switch? how did i not know this?
Not only do I remember The Conduit, I still have my Special Edition version.
I like the game and still think it's fun.
I love fallout 4 I have thousands of hours in it, but fake 76 was dog shit so I didn't expect starfield to be good
NSMB Wii defender here. Definitely enjoyed this game for hours on end with family and friends. Co-op play didn't exist in the older 2D Mario games, so to have a full Mario game where four players could enjoy the game at the same time was quite memorable. LETSA GO!!!
i knew my sims would be here LOL
The Conduit games were not good, but the cliff hanger ending of 2 where Abraham Lincoln and George Washington come out of a portal in Warhammer 40k space marine armour to recruit you was bonkers.
Final fantasy 7 Remake came out on PS4 and 5. Like only 4 years ago. Why on earth did you think it was on the PS3?
