    Thank you so much for your incredible support and valuable feedback! My upcoming video is taking a lot of labor, involving days of meticulous data collection and the creation of a custom equation to determine what I believe to be the "greatest individual season in NFL history." And that's just the tip of the iceberg - there's still editing and graph-making to be done. I'm beyond excited to share this mind-blowing content with all of you! Stay tuned!🤯

      Good vid although you missed a couple things for Tom tho including Records and Accolades like MVPs/SBMVPs which paint a bigger and more accurate picture that’s without bringing up the playoffs TDs or yards all time which shows a big gap to remember the Goat convo is quite varied I guess but certainly important accomplishments must be shown or else they’d be forgotten or overlooked

      same with RBs / Jim Brown. Also Jim Brown played in a time where it was a running league. Also he was bigger then his own oline men. However Jim Brown in the 90s/2000s I dont think would be the same dominate RB. He would still be very good. But put Emmitt, Barry , LT , Peterson etc in Jim Browns era and they destroy the league

      This is also my problem with the mahomes argument , Mahomes has the best team right out of the gate and still he relies on escaping for 90% of his big throws… look what happens when they lose a step and you become Russell Wilson.

      When you play as long as Tom did you would have a great resume. However Tom played he a soft error. Watch old football games from 70’s and 80’s the qb’s were slaughtered. Tom Brady gets touched and it’s a personal foul. The number of super bowls also doesn’t make you the goat. This is like comparing Michael Jordan to Lebron James. Yeah Jordan has more rings more everything. Lebron again has played in a soft era. Jordan caught beat up. Lebron gets touched and it’s a foul. It doesn’t make Jordan the goat. You can’t compare the eras. My opinion is joe Montana is the goat in the nfl and Jordan is the goat in the nba, but that my opinion. Resume and rings don’t mean anything. Robert Horry has 7 nba rings are we going to put him on the list? Bill Russell has 11 nba rings, I can tell you his era was even easier than the 80’s and 90’s.

    • @marckellough529

      As Vince Lombardi once said winning isn't everything winning is the ONLY thing. Tom Brady has more Super bowl rings than any NFL TEAM. If Joe Montana was so great why did he play in only 4 Superbowls?? Most of the time he lost before he got there. Brady played in 10 Superbowls. Brady won 5 Super bowl MVPS because he was the best player on the team. Robert Horry was just a role player coming off the bench so how can you compare them

  • @timkvernen4852
    @timkvernen4852 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +120

    If you use charts for comparison, you have to start the y axis from 0. The chart at 4:16 looks a lot different when you can see that Jerry has ~1.76x as many yards as the 20th ranked guy and ~1.31x the second ranked, whereas Tom has ~2.46x as many touchdowns as the 20th ranked and 1.13x the second ranked.

      So Jerry has twice as big of a lead over his #2 (.3 v .16) than Brady does? And only Justin Jefferson and Tyreek Hill look at all capable of getting close to Larry Fitzgerald's numbers - let alone Jerry's.
      For reference, Fitz had 10k yards at the end of his age 29 season. Jerry had 9k. Tyreek has 9.4k. So if Tyreek can keep pace for the next 10 years, he'll get close. JJ is too young to project out, but he's breaking records which helps.
      Meanwhile, there are 5 current QBs that project to be within range of Brady by the end of their careers.
      Brady retired a year ago and was playing with guys that will eventually get close or beat his records.
      Rice has been retired for 15 years and the likes of Randy Moss, Fitz, and TO couldn't get touch him. Rice is the GOAT.

    Age plays a major role in qb performance, besides there are many one hit wonders or five year performances like priest Holmes or Todd gurley but longevity doesn’t exist. Also add on the two seasons he couldn’t play due to injury or benched to that chart and Tom is basically tied with these ideal young qbs that supposedly will never decline. There is also something to be said for the way he runs the game.

      Im a jets fan hate tb12 but he is so good that he really didn't leave us much room to argue that he *isnt* the goat. How many super bowl appearances, 10? 7 rings, left the patriots and got another ring in 2 years. There is no one *anywhere freaking near* any of those achievements.
      It is an interesting discussion because Belichick is also a top NFL coach of all time. But he lost touch with the game over the years. Brady did not. And that's yet another reason I would say he is the best to ever do it. I'd say 2000-2005 Belichick was more important and then tb12 went beast mode after.

      @ernestogastelum9123 yeah, but that's a gross oversimplification. Brady and the Patriots were both great together. It wasn't just Brady. Shouldn't ignore coaching and years of consistently good-to-great defense. The circumstances of current era Patriots football doesn't really change those conclusions. Correlation doesn't equal causation.

      Nah, the debate has been wrapped up since they beat the falcons in the superbowl. it's really not a debate. He is the greatest football player of all time because not only is his statistical resume as a QB unmatched, he makes his team better and is literally another coach. It's not a debate. Argue for 2nd greatest at this point because the greatest has come and gone.

    • @ViolentMLG
      @ViolentMLG 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I used to not think Brady was the GOAT, I was more in the Peyton Manning camp.
      But as I became more successful in life, and grew to admire successful people, I realized he is the GOAT because he has incredible discipline and work ethic and a way to inspire others that not many can rival.
      He's not just a player, he's a leader.
      He may not be the most physically gifted, he is not the best QB in that metric, in a power rankings every season, he would be top 5, not 1, that's obvious.
      But he makes up for that in his ability to help his entire team win, that's not something that stats, power rankings, or metrics can account for, and he was able to replicate this for 7 SB rings and 9 SB appearances, its not a fluke.
      He instills discipline and inspires.
      It doesn't matter how great you are if you aren't winning, that's just the facts, and its something many people don't pay enough attention to.
      Nobody debates if Aaron Rodgers is the goat, he isn't, even though we all know he's the most physically gifted QB from that era.
      Why? Because he wasn't winning.
      And I don't think if you put Rodgers on the Patriots in their prime, that this discussion changes.
      Brady builds a culture of winners and IS a winner, his story is inspirational.
      Not many QB's came from humble beginnings to dominating for 2 decades like Tom did.
      That's why he's the GOAT.

  • @blacker5826
    @blacker5826 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +35

    The reason why Brady is #1 by a decent margin in football is because QB plays a much, much more effective role in the offense than a receiver does. You can compare Jim Brown's numbers to his era, Rice's numbers to his era, and Brady's numbers to his era, and you'd find Brady isn't that far off from the other QBs in his own era. That said, QB is such a more impactful position than a WR or RB these days could ever be.
    For an example take, a QB being top 3 in passing yards in a 5-year stretch with playoff moments AND numbers to back it up is more impressive than a receiver who has 2,000 more receiving yards than 2nd place in a 5-year stretch. It's all about the player and the position. Jerry Rice is the GOAT receiver in my books by far, and the only player that surpasses him on my list is Brady. Jim Brown, Lawrence Taylor, and Reggie White are all a close 3-5.
    The QB has more impact to the offense than even the head coach these days in football. That isn't to say Zach Wilson is better at QB than Robert Saleh is at coaching the Jets, just a balancing act between the two. You can have a great head coach, but the QB is more important. This also isn't to say that a superstar QB can win the super bowl with below average players all around him. This more just overall says that a top 3 QB is more beneficial with an average head coach and average players around him than a top 3 head coach with average players and an average QB.

Statistically, the number of run plays per game drastically decreased after 2008 once these high powered passing offenses began being used. For a lot of the early and mid 2000’s, the Patriots did not pass a whole lot. While now, you see these 35-50+ pass attempts per game almost every week

Patrick Mahomes seems to have the It factor,question is, can you continue to produce over an entire career with coaching changes , the coming and going of teammates,injuries,etc.
    Playing at a high-level and continuing to win over a 20+ year career is completely nuts .

  • @JustinStrife
    @JustinStrife 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    Brady has 3 HOF careers if you ever saw Nick Wright's segment, over 20 years.
    I got to meet Jerry Rice back in 1990 when I lived up in San Francisco. One of the best players of all time. And yes the league was different then. But Brady still played in part of that league before the rules started changing in the late 2000's.
    Anyone who looks at everything, and says Brady isn't the GOAT of all NFL players, can't truly appreciate what he has done, in an era that is designed AGAINST dominance by one player or team due to the salary cap and free agency rules. He has had a greater revolving door of personnel around him than any player in history.
    Interesting video, but not good enough for my sub. Keep it up though.
    One other thing. Trying to speculate how many passing TD's Herbert and Mahomes will get in their career is so many what ifs that doesn't take into account factors like injury, rule changes, personnel changes, is juvenile at best. What Brady did was never done before, and his playstyle, and dedication to health won't be matched by them. They require more mobility than he ever did, and they won't take the team friendly salaries that he took over 20 years, so their teams long term won't be able to afford to keep reloading on players.

      @AngryLoser9690 He also had some bad luck in the playoffs/superbowl too. The Giants had 2 insane catches that basically gave them their rings.
      The rules keep changing to try and prevent dynasties and complete domination by any one team to make the game competitive. Combined with free agency and salary caps, it isn't suppose to happen. Hence why teams usually falk off after 2-3 great years. Hence why the playoffs always have a bunch of new teams competing every year.

      @JustinStrife bro Eli Manning literally threw more of a dot than Tom brady has ever thrown in his entire career to mario Manningham in 2011. Brady has won two superbowls leading his offense to 13 points or less, and won multiple championship games while throwing for multiple interceptions. He is the luckiest player in sports history and there is no denying it. No other qb has ever had legendary defensive play or game-swinging calls in crucial moments like Tom Brady has and no one probably will ever have that sort of luck again. And a methodology correctly weighting all factors, successful over years. And then we can have the real argument for ranking - stats, or what all saw as observant unbiased accurate-memoried fans.

    Plus, you need to add in the probability that their supporting staff will also decline (2019 Patriots). Also consider coaching changes, rule changes, and changes in the game. There is a reason why the longevity Tom Brady, Payton Manning, and Drew Brees is so rare.

The others were top 5, of which Jonathan Taylor and Barry were tied at 5.0 ypc. I chose Taylor to better suite the audience of modern football. Additionally, Barry Sanders didnt receive a single Running Back GOAT vote by ESPN analysts. Thus, wasnt important to add since he didnt correlate to my research about who the true GOAT of football is. Furthermore, Barry only had 5 years with over 1500 rushing yards, not 10 like you said. I like the approach of the video, but these stats are taken without any contextual consideration. For example, pass yards are a bad metric as you could be up 40 at the end of the fourth quarter, so somebody with a worse performing team may look better in terms of yards. Also, era matters as the way the game is played has changed over time. The only way to go about making comparisons would be to look at something like value added (something similar to war in baseball).

      I like all those things you brought up; and though I know you're talking about data, really the only way to judge how good someone played is to *watch the game* which is something most people won't or can't do so they just use stats.
      The era difference is huge. I think it's partially why Matt Cassel could be so successful with them in 08. I think if you *watch* the early years, Brady is actually kinda clutch, but no world beater. He was in a lot of games to begin with on BB's solid defenses and rushing schemes.
      As the years went on Brady kept improving with the current NFL while BB lost touch. Rob Gronkowski was a huge factor too, him and TB12 saved their asses quite a few times.

As for the kicker winninf him games, Brady did his job tk put vinatieri in those positions and Adam did his job by making the kick. By that logic Adam vinatieri sure is lucky to be the goat kicker considering he had a qb who constantly gave him opportunities to win games. Also if you subtracted the games where vinatieri "won" the game for them, despite how stupid that sentence is, he'd still have 5 titles which you guessed it is more than every other player in league history
