I'd go as far as 'genius' kind of taking the Gary Newman and Depeche Mode models to a whole new level. He is simply so interesting to listen to both musically and philosophically.
I've had a man crush on Reznor for approximately 25 years. His evolution continuously intrigues me. Hope I can see NIN once more in concert, before he decides to call it quits for good.
You totally got me! Now do me a favor and go look up some community college improv classes FFS. Don't be afraid to invest more than 2 seconds into your comments!
Trent because of "The Physical World" I took a 3 hour bus trip waited for hours and was #639 in line and STILL got 2nd row center stage behind the pit! That's AMAZING! I saw the With Teeth tour and missed Wave Goodbye (in rehab) but now 13yrs later I have AMZING tickets to see you. Can't wait for Sept 14th see you in PHX!!!
@David Wagner So I got in line a bit around 9:15 or so. Line starts moving at 10 and was only supposed to be open until 3. Based on the size of the line they immediately added a third day anticipating sell outs. But by the time I got to buy my tickets at 2:45 there was still tickets available for all the shows and I have no further indication as far as how many they still had or how many more they sold. They did say that they would stay open as late as they could to make sure everyone got a ticket but I do not know how all that turned out. The line behind me had to still be either the same size or longer by the time I got out around 3. And I heard some in the line mention that the idea was they'd sell whatever was left online but that's anecdotal as hell, I can't speak to that. Also, maybe shows did sell out by the end of the night. I would have to google and hope to find some info.
Thanks for the info. Did you have a good time in line like Trent hoped? I wish they were playing my city. On tickemaster it looks like there are still tickets available for Thursday night, but it wont let you buy on the website. I reached out to some Chicago friends to see if anyone i know got tickets. I cant really swing the travel on Thursday anyway so i might end up on stubhub for Saturday.
lol it was rough. I was on 3 hours of sleep for no goddamn good reason. And the most exhausted afterward that I think I had ever been. Driving back home was actually really unsafe! I shouldn't have done it and I dont live too far... Lol I think I would have tried to enjoy it more. But after a coiuple hours, yeah, we were all chatting and holding each others places in line as we went to use the rest room or get food and whatnot. Oh and apparently inside the venue there was a station where you could listen to two new tracks from the upcoming EP. But I missed it entirely! It's okay. I really wanted to buy a few more tickets and sell them but I felt like that wasn't in keeping with what he wanted so I just bought two... I wish I had now though so I could help out other fans such as yourself. I saw him in 2009 I think during the wave goodbye tour. At the Aragon. And I bought two tickets off of someone for 300 bucks. And I am sure the tickets were not 99.50 like they were this time around. But I really do not know. I had considered doing something similar but decided against it. I did also almost want to buy at least one more ticket for myself for the other days being offered too! I settled on just two for Friday night.
one of the last few standing personas in music right now... we dont get people like that anymore. will support anything this guy decides to do in the future.
“ I relate to music. It gives me goosebumps to think about it. It’s defined me. It’s helped me figure out who I am. I’ve been able to communicate and understand myself and the world through the lens of music.” I totally relate, and love how he articulated this. I could listen to him talk about what music means to him all day.
Trent Reznor, if you ever see this, you shaped one of the better pieces of my childhood, even if it was just my appreciation of music and technology. Thank you for what you do.
I used to camp out for the tickets. I put in effort and heart. Thats what made the concert experience so special. Reznor is doing the right thing. As usual. 🙂
I had pleasure to watch them in Poland 2009 in "Malta" Festival Poznań. First time I was saw NIN live. It was great. Huge energy. Thank you Trent. Maybe someday it happen again.
I miss life outside of phones and internet..going to box offices and getting whatever is there to get. i remember when i use to meet people at tower records who like what i like.. and introduced me to music they only knew cause it was a back yard band on the rise...and we became friends.. not everything was social media where you base who you like on how they physically look. I want qualities friends who actually like what i like not like whats trending or the next pretty face. I think Trent is on to something and if i am ever in the area where they play then i will be lucky and it will bring value to the experience. Thanks.
My very first NIN concert was Tension 2013 where Explosions In The Sky opened at the last minute. Best live show I've ever seen. I was struck by the realization that I was watching people who were performing their true calling in life.
I had a similar experience. Front row in Tokyo and the skies opened up. It had been so hot just minutes before that steam was coming off the crowd. NiN didn’t skip a beat and just seemed to rock out even harder as they were also getting drenched. Best show of my life Summersonic 2009.
I went to NYC the day this went on sale in person. So bummed. BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!! they just went on sale online today and we scored some!!!!! WORD!!!! Hollywood Palladium. Saw NIN for first time in 91 at the very first Lollapalooza. And many times since. VIVA NIN. BRAVA!!!
I remember sleeping out all night in the cold for front row tickets to see Ozzy. The management left the sidewalk heating system, that was used to melt ice, on for us. We'd wake up all hungover and see our other rock and roll buddies also coming to get tickets. That sense of community in which he speaks is real. Im about the same age as Trent and he did live in BFE, I know because he grew up about 45 minutes south of me in western PA.
Saw NIN for the first time in May 2000 in Houston for the Fragility V 2.0 tour where A Perfect Circle opened for them. One of the best shows I've ever been to. NIN will forever be my #1!
Can't wait to see you all at Anthem Oct 10th, Bringing the kids and my best friend who gave me my first tape "Pretty Hate Machine" I have tried to see NIN for years and always missed you all. This is a dream come true! Thank you for this!!!! I have been a fan ever since hearing that first tape. spend years collecting your albums from different countries just to hear your different sounds at funny like you said Tower Record. Thank you for years of amazing music
My first NIN show was in 1990. This time-- I drove two hours to the Palladium in LA last month, got in line at 5:30 am, waited over 5 hours, bought 4 tickets for the Saturday night show, drove 2 hours home. The experience was amazing with the fans and my teen son. Can't wait for the December show.
willz HatesU I know, obviously! But Year Zero's theme was really about the social climate and the state of the world politically and other things. That's all I really meant by that, because given how things are today it's exciting to know Trent is coming out with something.
I drove to Detroit from CLE last Saturday and waited in line for over 6 hours to get tix for October show. Worth it and glad I did it. This will be my first time seeing NIN. Going with my 29 yr old son. too!
I was first in line! I waited in line 12 hours for tix in Phoenix, loved every minute of it, met some cool fellow NIN fans and can't wait to see you guys from the front row!
I liked the ticket selling strategy. They added additional shows to cities where they sold out; and the tickets left over from the venues are on ticketmaster now anyways so people who cant drive cant complain too much. It could have been slightly more organized, but I think it was great overall.
It was cool to hear him talking about people connecting in person over a mutual taste in music, because that's exactly what happened to me when I was in line for NIN tickets a few days ago.
Every time I listen to trents new interviews I always am reminded of how sad the music will be without a true artist and musician like Trent around he's truly one of the last real remaining icons but to me he's always been the realest one no bullshit pure love for his craft every single move is passionately calculated he always is on top of the situations and problems in the music world always so honest and so genuine he'll always be my favorite artist cheers to the EP trilogy Trent thier amazing
i'll never forget seeing one of his exclusive (limited to only 500 people) shows in atlanta GA in 1996. the show felt so intimate it became a literal eye-opener for me. thank you for waking me the f*ck up Trent!
I totally dig what Trent expresses in this interview. Bring it back to the true essence of shared musical expression. So much feeling/intimacy becomes lost these days in huge arena style venues, there is nothing like the collective energy and passionate pulse of a tribe of people in one intimate room, all resonating on/feeding of the same creative heartbeat. In many ways, Trent is going back to the vital source of what fed into his musical passion & drive in the first place. A sense of community is needed these days, its great to try and encapsulate that once again within his very own fanbase & for the enjoyment of his own reconnection with the roots & truth of creative expression. Massive respect! ~X~
Ill never forget going to tower records in Chicago to get The Fragile in 1999, and listening & reading the lyrics the whole drive home to the burbs. And flying to Denver last minute for tickets to this tour.
Goal accomplished. I saw them at Red rocks almost two weeks ago and I still can’t get that performance outta my head. It brought me back to when music really mattered to me and was my everything and somehow, adulthood has caused me to forget that part of myself. Now, I can’t wait to purchase a vinyl record player and begin connecting with music again.
I waited in line 8 1/2 hours to buy Nine Inch Nails tickets and do not regret an ounce of it! I love what they did. It’s a concept I’ve been thriving on for years due to my lack of interest in social media. I met some wonderful people in that line! Corey and Kat were a wonderful couple and hope they enjoy the show in Boston! Much love Trent!
I bought tickets for the concert in Nashville in December and I was one of the first 50 people to get there, me and my friends waited for 3 hours in the hot sun to get tickets and it was completely worth it. It's exactly like he said, that alone was an amazing experience just waiting in line and talking to a lot of people all there for the same thing, even with age differences and things that would normally keep people separated, we all were there for something we cared about and had a common interest in. I even met a homeless musician who was playing for money to get strings for his old beat up guitar. The guy was awesome, easily one of the most interesting people I've met in my entire life. Trent reznor is trying to make experiences like that for other people that love his music and I for one think it's an amazing thing. I wasn't even planning on buying tickets when I got there because I didn't have any money until I called my dad and begged for money right before ticket sales started. Even if I didn't get to buy tickets that day I would say it was worth waiting in line and having those conversations with all the people I did about music and life in general.
I was lucky enough to meet Trent . Shake his hand and get an autograph on my Year Zero CD. Was at the sound check and got pictures. Amazing. I was in awe just to meet him.
Waited in line for 6 hours for tickets to the Dallas shows (Irving TX). It was a great experience, got to meet some interesting people and exchange some old mosh pit stories from back in the day. It really took me back to a simpler time when getting tickets was part of the adventure. So I completely understand why they made this move.
I was in Atlanta in line on May 19th.. waited in line for 7 hours and didn’t get tickets... BUT I had a lot of fun. I eventually got tickets, but you know the journey.
I like reznor but more Skinny puppy, I remember the interview with ministry frontman alien al talking about Reznor being the most depressed man I ever met and him and morrisey should have a Russian roulette contest haha
I waited in line for over 8hrs in Boston for his Wang Shows, had the best time making new NIN friends, and still ended up with seats only 8 rows back in the center on the floor, worth the wait for sure, #trentforever
I haven't seen Nine Inch Nails since they were with Bowie in 1995, but I'm headed to Las Vegas with my wife (her first ever NIN show) in three short weeks.
I remember seeing NIN at the Metro Nightclub in Melbourne. It was small and intimate and was truly the single most amazing musical experience I have ever had! To see them in a small setting with 1200 other people who love this band as much as me was exactly as Trent says in this interview. It was a temple of like minded people all there for one thing, music!
Sadly, his upcoming tour has no stops in Canada. And the localized ticket system precludes my ability to travel to one of his concerts. :/ NIИ was my first concert, and it had a pretty major impact on me. Would love to experience NIИ live again.
... all I know is I have tickets for both October 19th and 20th in Boston. I've been following this band since 1991. Seen them 22 times so far. I've watched this band grow through the years, with every album since PHM. Every show has been amazing...
I love you Trent. I live in BF Wyoming. I won’t be able to get tickets at the box office in Denver for Red Rocks. However I RELISH having seen Soundgarden and NIN in 2014 at Red Rocks. One of the ALL TIME greatest shows I’ve been to. And now holds more meaning than any because it was the last time I’ll EVER have the chance to see Chris Cornell.
toffeebomb interestingly enough; Chris and Layne were two of my few musical gawds. I honestly resented Pearl Jam because I felt they unfairly overshadowed SG and AiC. I never gave PJ a chance or a fair listen. Until...last year when Chris died. I then told myself THEY were all that was truly left and maybe it was time to get over it and LISTEN. I have since grown quite an appreciation for PJ! Btw, they have a new album coming soon, released the first single already. 😊
angela Davis yes Angela I miss him so very much. I own a radio station and host a show; I did a tribute last year but it took me 10 days to be able to compose myself enough to do it. This year I did a tribute on May 18th. However I in fact lost it several times during. Certain song are almost more than I can listen to.
same, i was there too. what a fucking amazing show for me. On 10 hits of good acid and absolutely in love with these bands. i was upset that matt cameron wasn't on drums for Soundgarden for that show.
I have seen NiN 3 times. The first time I went to work with a temp of 105 just so I’d be able to talk about how awesome it was! (If I am too sick to work I’m too sick to go to a concert!) I was in the pit, slightly delirious, and Trent had a bottle of water which he splashed in front of him where I was standing! Aww! Thanks! I really needed that cool down/rock baptism! He will never know the awesome thing he did for me that night!
There has to be a next time Trent!! I can't make it to a show during this tour. I did make it to a NIN concert years ago in Rochester. BYIT!! Definitely top 5 shows I've ever been to!
I fuckin love this and I wish I coulda stood in line for the ticket but I was outta town on vacation unfortunately :/ but I'm so happy to still get a ticket, even if its in the back row I'm still stoked that I'm getting a chance to see them. my favorite band and my inspiration to music, cant wait to see them live finally ! much love ❤❤
I drove from WV to NYC and stood in the cold rain for seven hours to get tickets and even though my legs ached and my toes were numb, I felt excited and lucky to have the opportunity ro get those tickets. I cannot wait until October. This strategy was interesting. I definitely think it's worth it for a band if they are a favorite though.
I stood in line for 8 hours in Detroit. I didn't prepare. Only ate a banana for breakfast, barely slept. Almost passed out a couple of times from maybe low blood sugar or dehydration. It was a blast. Tons of cool, music loving people in line to bullshit with. One guy even bought like 6 cases of beer and passed them out to people for free. Will be my first and maybe only time seeing nin and I couldn't be more excited. Been a pretty much all my life.
I love Reznor interviews. Articulate, knowledgable, and passionate. Can't wait for the San Francisco gig, will be my first time seeing NIN
enjoy it for all of us :D
You will not be disappointed... :)
I'll be going to the sf show too!! You won't be disappointed 😁
Gonna see them in berlin. Soo hyped. Hope he will play somewhat damaged. Just love nin. Wish you all a good time😘
I'll be at that show too! It'll be my tenth time seeing NIN
guy is the real deal. We are lucky he is in the music world.
I'd go as far as 'genius' kind of taking the Gary Newman and Depeche Mode models to a whole new level. He is simply so interesting to listen to both musically and philosophically.
Music world are happy that he in it)
VERY TRUE, I remember NIN from the beginning with pretty hate machine and has always been about the people.
i agree, trent has very little ego and pulls from dark places to bring us perfect music
Reznor is like fine wine, he just gets better with age. Dude still looks like he's 30.
not really
90s Trent will always be sexiest.
He really doesn't look 30, but he does look good for his age.
Maybe a healthy 40-something, but not 30.
He looks great for his age, but he doesn't look like 30, nor should he want to.
These interviewers need to stop ignoring Atticus Ross.
but who really cares about what he thinks? besides a very small number of people he's just not popular and he's not what the viewers want to hear
He doesn't really like to talk I've gathered lol
y'all be acting like Atticus even WANTS to talk
Other have said this before, but not sure he likes all the attention. Many times he just replies "what Trent just said".
Trent is the absolute best example of a humble musician. Dude played with Bowie and he's still absolutely down to Earth.
I've had a man crush on Reznor for approximately 25 years. His evolution continuously intrigues me. Hope I can see NIN once more in concert, before he decides to call it quits for good.
Nothing but respect for Trent.
I love this guy. He inspires with his voice. So relatable, not a shred of inauthenticity. He's a rarity in a world full of plastic.
When this popped up on my TH-cam home page I almost had a heart attack. I've needed this man back in my life.
Liz Lionheart How did he leave?!?
Amy Andrews Well, he's always in my heart, but I needed to see that beautiful face of his😍
Liz Lionheart Yes, I wholeheartedly agree with you. A beautiful man and beautifully twisted music.
trent aged good
Talking about Beta when you just delivered the weakest troll line I've ever read! Did you put ANY thought into that?
UsedCondomCollector This is the dumbest comment I've read in months. And I'm posting this on TH-cam.
You totally got me! Now do me a favor and go look up some community college improv classes FFS. Don't be afraid to invest more than 2 seconds into your comments!
Shadow Pilot Hahaha that was a good one. ♥😁✌
UsedCondomCollector Loser. What a stupid name you go by. I bet it's the only one you ever used and still have it. Hahaha. 😅
"Everybody's entitled to Everything" - Trent Reznor. In my humble opinion he couldn't be more accurate.
Stood on line for 6 hours in Chicago the other day waiting for these tickets... I'll be there for the Friday show. I am extremely excited.
Richard Acevedo 🙌😁
Richard, is it safe to assume all three nights sold out day one? Im in Kansas City and would love to make it to the Aragon show.

Love this guy. One of my favorite musicians. Listening since 1994. 10yrs old. Looking forward to the concert coming up! 😀
I absolutely love Mr Reznor
He so real and down to 🌍 that has never changed 🙏
Waiting in line for five and a half hours in Chicago the other day was worth it. I’m looking forward to seeing these guys for the first time.
I had pleasure to watch them in Poland 2009 in "Malta" Festival Poznań. First time I was saw NIN live. It was great. Huge energy. Thank you Trent. Maybe someday it happen again.
if everything is accessible to you life is boring
i would enjoy to have more money though

Happy late birthday Trent. You are my inspiration!
What an amazing musing intellect!!
I met Trent in 1995. Good guy.
I wouldn't even mind if he was a dick. What he's done for me with his music, is irreplaceable and inimitable
Trent you are the man!
Trent we are all still out here. For some of us music is life.
My very first NIN concert was Tension 2013 where Explosions In The Sky opened at the last minute. Best live show I've ever seen. I was struck by the realization that I was watching people who were performing their true calling in life.

Sassy Catz
Very rad! That concert t-shirt must have disintegrated by now.
Seen him in the 90's and five more times since! Performance was better in earlier years

I'm from Argentina. I started to listen to NIN last week and I'm completeley blown away. I wish they come to my country pretty soon. I need it.
Legend.
abdul basit Agreed.

My favorite artist. NIN changed my life in 05 when I got With Teeth
Fucking love this man. Musically and intellectually.
If he took a break for 16 years and came back i'd be there.
Trent has a storm coming, I just feel it. 'Year Zero' was amazing, and I can't wait to see what he has to say.
YZ: Such an underrated album.. so much awesome.
YZ is a bomb.
Youngsters
willz HatesU I know, obviously! But Year Zero's theme was really about the social climate and the state of the world politically and other things. That's all I really meant by that, because given how things are today it's exciting to know Trent is coming out with something.

WE ARE SO LUCKY TO HAVE TRENT IN THIS WORLD
New Orleans in November, can’t wait

he's rockin' a vintage Heavy Metal Comix t-shirt under his jacket. Lol
I just saw the show in San Francisco last night. Incredible!! Best show ever.

That first 27 seconds is amazing. Valuable stuff right there everyone!

Im going to therapy in October thankyou NIN
LOL
Good luck with that, brother!!
Just love his words, so passionate, you can tell, and probably many other people can relate here also!
AHhhrr !! i just love everything about him , he gives me goose bumps just looking at him x.
Just got my tickets to see them at the Palladium. Funny that's where they got the inspiration to tour. Can't wait! 🤘
Trent's music is amazing
I remember seeing NIN at the Metro Nightclub in Melbourne. It was small and intimate and was truly the single most amazing musical experience I have ever had! To see them in a small setting with 1200 other people who love this band as much as me was exactly as Trent says in this interview. It was a temple of like minded people all there for one thing, music!
I heard live you for the first time this weekend in Prague. It was my birthday. And it was fucking epic.
Sadly, his upcoming tour has no stops in Canada. And the localized ticket system precludes my ability to travel to one of his concerts. :/
NIИ was my first concert, and it had a pretty major impact on me.
I envy you. RIP Chris Cornell. I will have to go see Pearl Jam now before all the great grunge icons are dead
toffeebomb interestingly enough; Chris and Layne were two of my few musical gawds. 😊
struckgold2010 Yeah Damn good show. Soo Sad for Chris Cornell. I love him and will miss him forever.Justice for Chris Cornell.♥😞♥😇
angela Davis yes Angela I miss him so very much.
He's one of the few big artists that shares song stems for others to remix. I love this guy, he got me into remixing and producing...
Yup
Its so sad cd stores are done. It was such a wonderful place to spend some time and money. Meet new people. I truly miss it
Got my ticket and can't wait!
There has to be a next time Trent!! I can't make it to a show during this tour. I did make it to a NIN concert years ago in Rochester. BYIT!! Definitely top 5 shows I've ever been to!
I already prepped for the LA show in December I was listening to pretty hate machine when I hit a 5000 dollar Jackpot
Aliester Crowley 🙌😁
Lucky you, I hope to see them in LA as well. Just hope I get tickets
i still get goosebumps when i watch a trailer or movie and they play NIN and I instantly recognize it.
I have always felt this way. I'm glad they are doing this 😁
When I was younger I remember the days when i would spend hours at tour records looking for all kinds of CD's. I miss those days
I miss record stores too. Just the whole process of sifting through the different c.d.s and finding things you didn't even know you were looking for.
Thank you so much I sincerely hope you never stop listening to my music 🎶❤️
THANK YOU TRENT!!!!
Thank YOU MUSIC MAKERS!!!!
Thank you for sharing this!
I really like his sentiment on technology.
Thanks for the video. Love NIN. You guys Rock. 😁🙌✌
Im from Costa Rica and I used to listen NIN a lot between 98-2005... not anymore but I like them ... would be cool see them live...
Trent is the best thing ever. This is so pure.
This is going to be a great year for NIN. I absolutely can not wait for the Vegas show. 1st timer here. It’s about fuckin time!🖤✨🖤✨🖤
Grace P 😁
Wouldn’t mind seeing them every year
Trent! Trent! You're da man!!
