Reminds me that I saw a woman with vitiligo and I wanted to compliment her. I was a stuttering mess. She was very thankful of it though, and told me many people with it felt ashamed. I dont really understand how mixed skin colour is ugly. Its like a tabby cat or any other cat with mixed colours. At least to me. It just looks more interesting than the default skin.
I saw the ghost bird and the real bird and my brain went "Oh no, is one of the boys imaginary and just all in the other's head?? Is this going to hurt me badly??" So relieved its a happy ending, I've been reading too many doomed relationships that this I've developed trust issues
It is simply comforting and beautiful. The ending made me cry. The animation is beautiful to see how the story goes from sad to a happy ending where they come together no matter what defect they have, they love each other with their hearts ❤️😭
This was so beautiful, I felt like I watched a movie with the amount of emotion you were able to pack in this short animation. I especially loved how the birds turned real in the end. Thai was so sweet ♡
I watched this thinking that the one with the magic wand was secretly a ghost, and I was worried he was gonna straight up ascend to the afterlife when his wand broke. Glad to see he's alive and they both get to have a happy ending!
Aw, I love how he cuts his hair at the end! I used to hide behind my long hair a lot, so I hated tying it up or pinning it because I disliked my face. Being able to finally change something that much when you were too insecure to do so before is quite freeing. Especially if it turns out nice!
You can see all the details in the animation and the way everything is so well thought out. The scene with the Wizard not smiling and it showing in the portrait, the reluctance in the hands rejoining, and even the title “Illusion” is significant. It’s so well made.

Although the art style is very different, the colors remind me a lot of Emily Xu's short animation Under This Luminous Sky, which btw you should definitely check in case you haven't yet. The fact that both include magic and magic wands also just makes the association stronger. All that aside, lovely film! I like the character designs and the lack of spoken dialogue. At first I thought one of them could see spirits so all of those birds following them where just dead birds lol
There are much, much too many similarities between the two that I doubt the animator didn’t at least take inspiration. From the colors, the background design, the art style, the clothing, the wand- even the overall vibe is way too alike. So I was confused when the animator didn’t even mention emily xu in the video description cause I was SO SURE they took inspo

Compared to Under this luminous sky, here the mc also has a cape which but that's expected for someone who does magic, and the wand having a star is still a generic enough design. Though looking at the mc really does make you reminisce about UTLS. I would say the art style here is more reminiscent of korean webtoons while Emily Xu's is more polished and illustration-like. The themes of both shorts also differ. But yeah, I mean, one does make you think about the other.

The european-esque architectural buildings specifically are what caught my eye, but that’d just be nitpicky. The robes share similar colors with the yellow star motif, though emily xu’s have much more detail (two layers, more stars) The wands share similar shapes with the same star motif and colors. Wands are most commonly shown to be wooden, etc. and when theres a star, it usually looks as if its attached to the wand as opposed to being an extension of it, so the similarities stood out to me. The art styles are obviously different, but the charm of both are alike. Thats just based off of the video, though. Theyre distinct from each other. Overall, the similarities lie more so in the shared setting and design elements.
I couldn't help it, crying is the best thing I've ever seen, the delicacy of the animation gives you that emotion of affection that the two of them have, it fascinated me. I would like a relationship, so where she loves everything about me.
