Tawheed is a verb to make something into waheed(one) in religious context it means to single out Allah in His worship and His Names & attributes.
Because in pre-Islamic Arab society they already believed in the Unseen Creator & Ruler of the Universe (Allah) but they worshipped lesser gods and mythological spirits as their intercessors to Allah, the Most High.
The Arabs before islam knew that their fathers Abraham and ishmael (PBUT) left a religion and that is to worship One God (Allah).
Prophet Muhammad was sent primarily to single out Allah alone in His worship…
That worship is solely a right of God and no one else.

Islam believes in ‘Tawheed’ which is not merely monotheism i.e. belief in one God, but much more. Tawheed literally means ‘unification’ i.e. ‘asserting oneness’ and is derived from the Arabic verb ‘Wahhada’ which means to unite, unify or consolidate.
Tawheed can be divided into three categories.
    1. Tawheed ar-Ruboobeeyah
    2. Tawheed al-Asmaa-was-Sifaat
    3. Tawheed al-Ibaadah.
    1. Tawheed ar-Ruboobeeyah (maintaining the unity of Lordship)
The first category is ‘Tawheed ar-Ruboobeeyah’. ‘Ruboobeeyah’ is derived from the root verb “Rabb” meaning Lord, Sustainer and Cherisher.
Therefore ‘Tawheed-ar-Ruboobeeyah’ means maintaining the unity of Lordship. This category is based on the fundamental concept that Allah (swt) alone caused all things to exist when there was nothing. He created or originated all that exists out of nothing. He alone is the sole Creator, Cherisher, and Sustainer of the complete universe and all between it, without any need from it or for it.
    2. Tawheed al-Asmaa was-Sifaat (maintaining the unity of Allah’s name and attributes):
The second category is ‘Tawheed al Asmaa was Sifaat’ which means maintaining the unity of Allah’s name and attributes. This category is divided into five aspects:
(2.1) Allah should be referred to as described by Him and His Prophet
Allah must be referred to according to the manner in which He and His prophet have described Him without explaining His names and attributes by giving them meanings other than their obvious meanings.
(2.2) Allah must be referred to as He has referred to Himself
Allah must be referred to without giving Him any new names or attributes. For example Allah may not be given the name Al-Ghaadib (the Angry One), despite the fact that He has said that He gets angry, because neither Allah nor His messenger have used this name.
(2.3) Allah is referred to without giving Him the attributes of His creation
In a reference to God, we should strictly abstain from giving Him the attributes of those whom He has created. For instance in the Bible, God is portrayed as repenting for His bad thoughts in the same way as humans do when they realize their errors. This is completely against the principle of Tawheed. God does not commit any mistakes or errors and therefore never needs to repent.
The key principle when dealing with Allah’s attributes is given in the Qur’an in Surah Ash Shur
“There is nothing Whatever like unto Him, And He is the One That hears and sees (all things).”
    [Al-Qur’an 42:11]
Hearing and seeing are human faculties. However, when attributed to the Divine Being they are without comparison, in their perfection, unlike when associated with humans who require ears, eyes, etc. and who are limited in their sight and hearing in terms of space, time, capacity, etc.
(2.4) God’s creation should not be given any of His attributes
To refer to a human with the attribute of God is also against the principle of Tawheed. For example, referring to a person as one who has no beginning or end (eternal).
(2.5) Allah’s name cannot be given to His creatures
Some Divine names in the indefinite form, like ‘Raoof’ or ‘Raheem’ are permissible names for men as Allah has used them for Prophets; but ‘Ar-Raoof’ (the Most Pious) and Ar-Raheem (the most Merciful) can only be used if prefixed by ‘Abd’ meaning ‘slave of’ or ‘servant of’ i.e. ’Abdur-Raoof’ or ‘Abdur-Raheem’. Similarly ‘Abdur-Rasool’ (slave of the Messenger) or ‘Abdun-Nabee’ (slave of the Prophet) are forbidden.
    3. Tawheed al-Ibaadah (maintaining the unity of worship):
(3.1) Definition and meaning of ‘Ibadaah’:
‘Tawheed al-Ibaadah’ means maintaining the unity of worship or ‘Ibaadah’. Ibaadah is derived from Arabic word ‘Abd’ meaning slave or servant. Thus Ibaadah means servitude and worship.
(3.2) All three categories to be followed simultaneously.
Only believing in the first two categories of Tawheed without implementing Tawheed-al-Ibaadah is useless. The Qur’an gives the examples of ‘Mushrikeens’ (idolaters) of the Prophet’s time who confirmed the first two aspects of Tawheed. It is mentioned in the Qur’an:
“Say: ‘Who is it that Sustains you (in life) From the sky and from the earth? Or who is it that Has power over hearing And sight? And who Is it that brings out The living from the dead And the dead from the living? And who is it that Rules and regulates all affairs?’ They will soon say, ‘Allah’. Say, ‘Will you not then Show piety (to Him)?’ “
    [Al-Qur’an 10:31]
A similar example is repeated in Surah Zukhruf of the Glorious Qur’an:
“If thou ask them, Who Created them, they will Certainly say, ‘Allah’: how Then are they deluded Away (from the Truth)?”
    [Al-Qur’an 43:87]
The pagan Meccans knew that Allah (swt) was their Creator, Sustainer, Lord and Master. Yet they were not Muslims because they also worshipped other gods besides Allah. Allah (swt) categorised them as ‘Kuffaar’ (disbelievers) and ‘Mushrikeen’ (idol worshippers and those who associate partners with God).
“And most of them Believe not in Allah Without associating (others As partners) with Him!”
    [Al-Qur’an 12:106]
Thus ‘Tawheed al-Ibaadah’ i.e. maintaining the unity of worship is the most important aspect of Tawheed. Allah (swt) alone deserves worship and He alone can grant benefit to man for his worship.

Trinitarian tawheed that you are talking about is a *Bidah* which was not taught by the salaf this idea came centuries after the salaf, every knowledge that pertain to Allah is known as tawheed and it means the uniqueness of Allah i.e oneness and doesn't need to be explained in multiple tawheeds.

      @@oliveoil4259 thank you for your response . It is “ His. “. Here are the verses : “ To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and earth ;
His is the religion forever “ - The Bee : 54.
Meaning worship is due to Him alone .
We also find these verses :
“ Do they seek other than the religion of Allah . “ 3: 83 .
Meaning He is the religion .
And in another verse we find the same :
“ The true religion with Allah is Islam . “
      3: 17 .
We also find His name is Al Mu’min . Means He is the infuser of faith .
“ whomsoever Allah desires to guide , He expands his breast in Islam. “ - Cattle : 125
Meaning to be guided needs His guidance. And that is Islam .
Among His many beautiful names He is Al Mubdi - The Originator.
There is a verse on this In The Quran: “ he followed the religion - Allah’s original ; upon which He originated the mankind . “
Finally , true religion is for Allah , with Allah , and from Allah.

    As salam alaykoum,
    I have two remarks :
1/ If the word "al tawhid" is not present in the Quran, Allah clearly forbid his antonym, which is "al shirk". An antonym is the opposite of a word, like death is the antonym of life. So, for example, if I have to announce to somebody that someone is dead, I can say : "John is dead" or I can negate his antonym by saying : "John is not alive". It is the same thing we find in the Quran. Allah said :
"And [mention, O Muhammad], when Luqman said to his son while he was instructing him, "O my son, do not associate [anything] with Allah. Indeed, association (al shirk) [with him] is great injustice.".
Allah also said : "They have certainly disbelieved who say, "Allah is the Messiah, the son of Mary" while the Messiah has said, "O Children of Israel, worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Indeed, he who associates ("yushrik" in arabic, verbal form of the word "al shirk") others with Allah - Allah has forbidden him Paradise, and his refuge is the Fire. And there are not for the wrongdoers any helpers."
2/ About Intercession, there is a clear narration in Sahih al Bukhary which says that after prophet passed away, the compagnons didn't ask to his dead body, rather they ask to a pious alive man to invoke Allah :
    Anas ibn Malik said :
Whenever drought threatened them, `Umar bin Al-Khattab, used to ask Al-Abbas bin `Abdul Muttalib to invoke Allah for rain. He used to say, "O Allah! We used to ask our Prophet to invoke You for rain, and You would bless us with rain, and now we ask his uncle to invoke You for rain. O Allah ! Bless us with rain."(1) And so it would rain.
    Sahih al bukhary, hadith n°1010.
    Allahu a'lam.

    Part 01/06
While watching this video, we have noted some points, and will briefly discuss below:
We agree with Shaykh Hasan Somali that in practice, Paulines do not stick to Touheed but these Paulines and Hindus are like pre-Quranic Arab Pagans (Mushrikeen) who used to do their own brand of Hajj and used to pray their own brand of Rituals, and they also used to believe in Allah Azza wa Jal but problem was: they used to have many other gods too. This is why Glorious Quran call them Mushriks. Who commits Shirk is called Mushrik, and in Quran, Shirk is even bigger sin than Kufar 4:48. *This is why: In Quran 5:72, Hell is guaranteed for those people who say that Jesus is god.*

Sufi is a deviated sect unfortunately many western newly revert prone to sufism or shia.
Shia or correctly refer to rafidah is out of islam. Shia is not islam but they claimed they are and their aqidah had corrupted so much and they do syirik to Allah by calling to Hussein or Hassan.

I'm aware it comes from orientalist thinking background, they understood Muslim's in relevant to their mindset.
In modern times, it is being pushed in India by the Hindu extremists organisations, such as RRS, among others across India. It is designed to dilute Muslim identity.
Even Indian Muslim's are beginning to accept it, or do not take offence from it's usage. I find it a highly offensive term.

He has invited guests from Zaytuna, who I don't believe to be on the correct path. But I don't come on that post and question the guest, I learn. In fact the Shaykh Ali from Zaytuna was wonderful to listen and learn from.
What does it matter what you call yourself? Did you know Allah will punish the people who used to call themselves Muslims, but did otherwise. Even the label of Muslim didn't help them, forget Sufi or Salafi.

Don’t backbite or hurt another creation of ALLAH (SWT) either it is an animal or a human either muslim or non Muslim because you will be held accountable for what you have done wrong to another person and ALLAH (SWT) will not forgive you until the person that you have hurt or backbite forgive you. And the person that you backbite on the day of judgement will take your good deeds and give their bad deeds to you but If the person you asked forgiveness don’t forgive you that you have backbite, then talk good of them in public or alone and ask ALLAH (SWT) to forgive them because that way ALLAH (SWT) will not make that person who you have backbite take your good deeds and give their bad deeds to you and ALLAH (SWT) will give good deed to that person without taking your good deeds. Remember also to never expose your sins out of happiness and boasting about it because ALLAH (SWT) will not forgive those that exposed their sins when ALLAH (SWT) hid the sins from others even, if it is exposed.

What a great show! Thanks. A clear view of Islam put out by Shaykh Hasan Somali under 60 minutes before his prayers. But he acknowledged an element of old testament viz Deut 6:4. Sadly he didn't refer to Exodus 20:3 which also helps to keep in focus the one God principle. Christianity tells a different story of salvation via the new testament where Jesus took the lead. All that's too complex to say the least. Paul was right start with the Nicene Creed which is the clear statement of Christianity. And it was well established before the birth of Prophet Muhammad and Islam in the 7th century.

  • @shukriyusof2104

At the beginning of the video, @2min:50sec, the Sheikh quote verse 2:21. However, I cannot agree with his translation of the Arabic "Ayn-Ba-Dal" to the English "worship" because the correct translation is "SERVE!"
    Why?
A "slave" or "servant" SERVES his master... however only worshippers would worship their master.
If you are the master, would you want your servant/slave to SERVE you or "worship" you?
Hence, this translation by Shakir is a much better way to understand this verse... 2:21 O men! serve your Lord Who created you and those before you so that you may guard (against evil)
Please note at the end of the verse where it says "so that you may guard yourself against evil."
So, how do you SERVE God and GUARD against evil? (is "evil" something bad you do to yourself & fellow human or God? )
    Now read these verses...
39:27 We have certainly set forth every ˹kind of˺ lesson for people in this Quran, so perhaps they will be mindful.
39:28 ˹It is˺ a Quran ˹revealed˺ in Arabic without any crookedness, so perhaps they will be conscious ˹of Allah˺.
39:29 Allah sets forth the parable of a slave owned by several quarrelsome masters, and a slave owned by only one master. Are they equal in condition? Praise be to Allah! In fact, most of them do not know.
39:30 You ˹O Prophet˺ will certainly die, and they will die too.
So, people die but the Quran is forever (at least until the Day of Judgement)... hence the only way to serve Allah is to follow the Quran and Quran alone!
Remember 39:29 where it says... "Allah sets forth the parable of a slave owned by several quarrelsome masters, and a slave owned by only one master."
It is of no wonder the sectarians hate, fight & kill each other because they serve other "masters" instead of just relying on the one and only true source of guidance from Allah... and that is the Quran and Quran alone!
And, that is how you serve Allah...
and "in this Quran Allah has set forth every ˹kind of˺ lesson for people" which includes all the evil you should avoid and refrain yourself from knowingly committing them.
    salam.
