Nice video, but one thing seems a bit cheating. Correct me if I'm wrong, but only receiving a hex code string does not mean you decoded the IR completely. For example, you can't send the code out using a IR LED only given the hex code. You need to know the protocol. If the protocol of an IR controller is unknown, as far as I know, the IRRemote library generates the hex code using a hashing algorithm. Know the hashed hex codes does not mean we have the complete information of the IR code, but only, we can check whether two IR signals are the same or not (provided hash collision does not occur). Of course, it also depends on what we mean by "decode" the IR signal. Anyway, it's a great video!

yes...it can
Yes, there are bunch of guides on youtube and internet. But the process is more complex than this one. And then you can turn your AC or whatever on/off from internet, etc.

Good Job. nice for learners...but many things matters ... first your code in not for hex code those are deci..and other protocol and bit length is important too ....mostly most remote use NEC so it wouldnt be a problem and might work with most but there do exist other protocols SONY panasonic and many AC companies have other ..

HI guys! I just bought a philips srp9141a/27 Universal remote control and am trying desperately (for 3 hours now) how to program it for my Air Conditioning unite (samsung). They both use IR but I am totally lost on what to do and dont want to spend any more money buying yet another remote lol Thanks!
I'm sorry to hear that but you should ask people at Philips but not electronics nerds in general (because those consumer products are designed in their specific ways). If the manual doesn't do enough for you then, just asking manufacturer is the best way to go. Hope you figured it out by now though!
So... I already have the hex codes in the manual for a pair of speakers... Do I use those to program a universal remote?

paste library file to arduino program folder / library. no need to extract it
you need to have an extra program. Use 7zip
unless if the library is already a .zip file,
then you can extract it from the ide

It is because it gives status of all commands at once so if you have pressed another keys then it will change commands accordingly

when we connect irrecievr TSOP1838 to the arduino pin 5v or 3.3v then automatically it is getting heated and it burning can one help me in this the code is also not getting in the serialmonitor i have given all connections properly

Soooooo by chance anyone that's done this decoded a vankyo remote for a projector? Trying to program the firestick remote to the projector and ain't happening and then customer service laughs and wants you to just buy cheap vankyo controllers from them.

This is not a solution for ANY remote like you say it, it only works with the ones that the IRRemote library understands
You have to at first decode your remote. Any IR remote transmit a hex code for per button press. Then you can use the second code to transmit the same hex code using arduino & Ir Led.
