Unless the person you dated was also a sleuth like her. This reminds me of those 1980s Nancy Drew episodes with the Hardy Boys (starring Parker Stevenson and Pamela Sue Anderson -- and they made an adorable pair, just saying), where Nancy basically cheats on Ned and has a fling with Frank. If there was a real-life Nancy Drew, there's like a 90% chance she'd end up single. The 10% chance is if she can find the right someone, perhaps a sleuth like Frank Hardy, with who she can connect with. Although, ending up single isn't really a bad thing. Did she end up (permanently) with anyone in the books? Did she ever end her sleuthing in the movies to "settle down"? She's the rich, only daughter of a powerful and well-known attorney. That's a very privileged character already.
Anja put people in fear, kidnapped her own nephew, tried to ruin Karl's job, and tried to kill Nancy at least twice just to get back at her ex. Forget mocking being mean, Nancy should have said "Bump dat witch."
Also: "This message will not repeat" will actually repeat. I know this because I was too dumb to realize I was supposed to go outside that the game had to remind me

She LIVES for mysteries. It’s like when reading a book and you can’t put it down. Or you NEED to watch another episode of a TV show because you need to know what happens next. Nancy CAN NEVER turn away from a mystery or helping people. It’s in her blood, like an obsession.

The other thing that cracks me up is when the fire is discovered, it's the slowest fire ever! Plenty of time to grab water, but Karl's all "Later dudes" and books it.
I liked the bloopers at the end of the game, especially when the security alert narrator says: "The monster has broken my boom-box, I fear for the worst." X'D I wished that was actually played while in the game, cause then that would've been hilarious and super confusing!
In the original books, Ned was a much more "take action"/confident character, and they expressed Nancy's admiration of him much more.. In the book where they meet (Secret Diary), he is very outgoing, charming and forward in his affection for Nancy.. He gets her out of trouble twice in their first meeting and they go on at least 3 dates in the first book alone, one of which Nancy meets a fraternity brother of his that helps in the investigation.. He also is a big part in the climax/finale of the book and helps Nancy save the day Bess and George were also a million times more integral in the books as well, so just goes to show how the games really use them as side characters/nods to the source material instead of taking the time to develop them as staples in the game series.. Also Helen (can't remember her last name) and Hannah are much more prominent, but I guess you have much more freedom with television and books then you do with games when it comes to adding more characters
Jim Archer who was repurposed as a banker in the Old Clock game was the name of Helen's fiancé in the OG books.. But that whole throwback game was a combination of the Lilac Inn/Old clock novels (They should've used more of the Lilac Inn story line vs. clock as it is much more interesting than clock i.e someone impersonating Nancy, ghosts, submarines & explosions!)
I thought this ND game was the scariest. Having a hulking, ugly beast terrorizing, kidnapping, and maybe even killing people seems scarier to me than ghosts. When I was walking through the woods and the secret passage, I was afraid that it was going to pop out of nowhere and chase me.
i actually really like this game, but the main thing that bugs me is the unanswered questions. For instance, did all those other girls get kidnapped? If not, what did happen? if so, who kidnapped them? It couldn't have been Anja. And what about the first girl? What happened to her? Why was she taken? Why does the monster take people, and what happens to them? Why is the necklace so important to the monster? What, or who, *was* the monster? What was its name? We know (i think Karl will tell you this) that the monster was once considered a friend to the town, until he kidnapped that girl. The naturally angry father forbid the monster's name be spoken, so it had one at one point. Also, i *REALLY* wanna read that book you find pages of. Please, HeR? Anyway, great video! Never realized *just* how many plot holes there were with the culprit. And was i the only one who thought Karl was the culprit because their faces looked kinda similar?
I appreciate so much that Michael is taking the time to point out the mistakes in the German used in the game because I've been speaking German for 6 years and I have no clue how I haven't noticed half of the mistakes he points out 😂

But the dolls do not resemble any of the card characters! And he's got his world-building notes in his desk. Something about being forced to change the artwork for the sea hare, because people thought his original art was awful.
Arglefumph: The Nancy Drew Dude like he says, he isn't finished making all the cards. That's why he's using the dolls to kind of do a role playing thing and make characters out of them. Probably did it when the game got released at the end.
You could be right. I was under the impression that he was one card away from finishing, and that's the card Nancy helps him make. Either way, one of his dolls is clearly a Transformer, and I'm pretty sure those aren't in any of Grimm's Tales.
I just finished replaying this game, and what bugged me the most was the well. Use a bucket & the well is filled with water! Use a flashlight & suddenly the water disappeared and a puzzle that leads to a hidden passageway appears! I also what to know more about the lore...what actually happened to Renate's sister & Else Amsel?
I don't think I had a problem with Nancy mocking Anja at the end. Should she have just remained silent or said something like she'll get someone else, like the police, to get her out?

In my ears, both the version with and without the "es" sound more or less correct; however, written German would prefer the version without. This is a very complex case: we have an "impersonal passive" ("it was tried to ..."), in which case we usually use the "es", but ONLY if it takes the first place in the respective sentence. I am guessing that "obwohl" counts as taking the first place (taking into account that the word order is changed in a subordinate clause, anyway), and thus we don't need the "es". Nitpicking, but still interesting. :) Keep up the good work!

My "mother" is the most narcissistic, abusive, controlling, manipulative, abusive, horrendous person I have ever encountered. Something kind of off topic, but still cool is that HeR's message boards had a continual poll/contest to create a card for the game. Every so often, they would poll what the card's name should be, what it would look like, etc. It was the Sea-Hare! It's probably just one of many reasons why it's my favorite of the cards provided. Each person was able to provide input to some degree of what they wanted!
I disagree with most of these: - Anja wanted you to find the necklace and was hiding clues for you. She also made the note that said you would be the victim as a way to frame Markus. I believe she hid both the decoder wheels, and that Renate was only inspecting the cuckoo clocks (not hiding the decoder in it) because she found clues that Anja left for us. - I think that Lukas followed through on his promise to help Nancy track down the monster and succeeded. That's why he got kidnapped. - The "flashback" from the start of the game is not real. It's just a visual for what the legend has evolved into. - Renate is a storyteller and feels personally responsible for the death of her sister. I think that explains a decent number of her actions. - Calls with bad reception can suddenly have moments of clarity thanks to satellites shifting positions. - The castle has many guest rooms; the game just doesn't let us explore them. - Raid is strategic and I challenge you to face me off right here right now. - I would have assumed that the figure in the courtyard is the monster, too. I see someone big, and I'm scared, so I assume it's the bad guy. - The book that the pages are ripped out of might have a first chapter that summarizes the legend, then the rest of the book analyzes it. That would explain the length of the book, while we only had pages from the start. Ones I totally agree with: - Where is Lukas' dad??? - Why don't they close the gates??? - How didn't Anja escape from the pit? (Did she break her leg on the way down? If so, how did we fall into it unscathed?) - Why didn't the name Phineas J. Monster stick? - I never noticed that the email was printed before it was made? Lol. - The monster standing on thin air on the second floor is pretty funny. Maybe there was a balcony, but that seems like an odd place for one. Ones you missed: - Karl just leaves a fire and expects you to put it out for him.
8:35 I just noticed that every area you see "the monster" appear in the game is listed on the map as "sightings." The hallway and furnace (on the camera) is when it's Lukas and every where else is when it's Anja.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks the Nancy Drew games make ZERO sense. I enjoy watching people play them, but there are so many plot holes and inconsistencies, and the endings are always so anticlimactic.
One had a video that got taken down for copyright, so he took the rest down to play it safe. We still don't understand why it was taken down. My guess is because the games had passages from the books, which is still a stupid reason. But good news, Agatha Christie books start entering the public domain next year!
I loved Raid, there is strategy because the cards with the highest value in a color tend to move less far so the lowest card to beat your opponent was best. That stupid purse lined with steel drums though, ugh

I noticed another problem, at 22:49 there isn’t a window over the castle gate. In the opening scene Lukas and Karl both lean out of this window.

Stumbling across A Mystery is what happens to Nancy all of The time
I disagree with most of these:
- Anja wanted you to find the necklace and was hiding clues for you. She also made the note that said you would be the victim as a way to frame Markus. I believe she hid both the decoder wheels, and that Renate was only inspecting the cuckoo clocks (not hiding the decoder in it) because she found clues that Anja left for us.
- I think that Lukas followed through on his promise to help Nancy track down the monster and succeeded. That's why he got kidnapped.
- The "flashback" from the start of the game is not real. It's just a visual for what the legend has evolved into.
- Renate is a storyteller and feels personally responsible for the death of her sister. I think that explains a decent number of her actions.
- Calls with bad reception can suddenly have moments of clarity thanks to satellites shifting positions.
- The castle has many guest rooms; the game just doesn't let us explore them.
- Raid is strategic and I challenge you to face me off right here right now.
- I would have assumed that the figure in the courtyard is the monster, too. I see someone big, and I'm scared, so I assume it's the bad guy.
- The book that the pages are ripped out of might have a first chapter that summarizes the legend, then the rest of the book analyzes it. That would explain the length of the book, while we only had pages from the start.
Ones I totally agree with:
- Where is Lukas' dad???
- Why don't they close the gates???
- How didn't Anja escape from the pit? (Did she break her leg on the way down? If so, how did we fall into it unscathed?)
- Why didn't the name Phineas J. Monster stick?
- I never noticed that the email was printed before it was made? Lol.
- The monster standing on thin air on the second floor is pretty funny. Maybe there was a balcony, but that seems like an odd place for one.

- Karl just leaves a fire and expects you to put it out for him.

I just noticed that every area you see "the monster" appear in the game is listed on the map as "sightings." The hallway and furnace (on the camera) is when it's Lukas and every where else is when it's Anja.

Mean of her? Seriously dude? Must I point out that Anja kidnapped and try to kill an innocent woman just to get back at her ex-boyfriend. Then swore revenge on her just because she was trying to save herself. If someone did that to you, you would probably do the same, I know I would.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks the Nancy Drew games make ZERO sense. I enjoy watching people play them, but there are so many plot holes and inconsistencies, and the endings are always so anticlimactic.
Is it bad I just realized that the Castle is the same one Savannah was talking about in the previous game? 😅

One had a video that got taken down for copyright, so he took the rest down to play it safe. We still don't understand why it was taken down. My guess is because the games had passages from the books, which is still a stupid reason. But good news, Agatha Christie books start entering the public domain next year!

I loved Raid, there is strategy because the cards with the highest value in a color tend to move less far so the lowest card to beat your opponent was best. That stupid purse lined with steel drums though, ugh
4. Yes, it's a random nameless woman, if that much. I think what they're doing here is telling the Legend of the Monster. We should not assume from it that the legend is even true, just that this is the legend.

I don’t know why they are taking so long to make the next game but one reason could be that some games had wrong facts about the games plot or theme. They are probably making sure that the new game has true facts about the Salem witch trials.
