You are an ABSOLUTE LEGEND. My roof stopped working months ago... no beeping, nothing. I’ve just spent 20 minutes doing what you recommended in this video and it worked FIRST TIME! Pulled the button up, heard the most beautiful *BEEEEP* ever and the roof folded straight back.
I didn’t remove the entire door panel, just unsnapped the control panel with a flat-headed screwdriver from the rear. Had to use a thin one and dig quite deep but it did pop out pretty quickly, so I’d recommend this method to save time and sweat!
Used a cotton stick with some WD-40 sprayed on one tip to clean the discs then used the dry end to polish them. The discs do look clean at first but as soon as you start cleaning them you can see all the dirt coming off on the cotton.
Thanks so much for this video mate. My local Vauxhall dealership wanted £130 just to diagnose the problem! Then they probably would have had my pants down for another £300 to fix it after that.
    What a great morning it’s been :D Sun’s out, I’m off for a drive.

That did it. Getting the switch open with the tip from the other mate with a screwdriver is much quicker. Thanks mate !

Cheers mate, it worked only there is a simpler workaround to get the switch out. You don't need to remove the whole door panel. You can remove the switch with a flathead screwdriver. At the backend there is a click system if you put your screwdriver in there the switch pops out. Then you can remove the cable. Max 30 min of work. But ten thumps up you rock

UPDATE FIX: Contact cleaning spray with oil that dissolves dirt, grease, oxides and oils, etc. Suitable for eg. Switches, relays, potentiometers and channel selector. Leaves a microtunnel lubricant protective film that protects against corrosion and moisturizing. Eliminates high contact resistance and voltage drop (not electrically conductive). Removes misspell immediately. Does not attack plastic material. Volume: 165 ml.

Great advice and now my roof works perfectly. But as you're showing by video it would be more demonstrative to show in the video the removal stages and processes instead of just narrating it. Otherwise 100% great advice.Tnx

Cheers mate, you're right - just fixed ours in 10 minutes following your advice, carbon contacts in rubber pad cleaned - works like new again! (ps - no need to remove door panel, just pop out switch from rear). Top video.

I cant get my switch panel out and ive scratched it now a bit up on the sides and still not fixed... I should have followed the guys advice from the video I guess because poping it out just scratches it all up :(

Wow, that's just saved £100 from Vauxhall diagnosics as a minimum. Cleaned the gold contacts and the rubber membrane with a bit of the wife's nail polish remover and an ear bud, and the roof is working again a treat. Wife is a happy bunny, steak for me tonight :-)

Great tip, my roof is working again! The fact that operating the roof switch resulted in no roof action AND in no warning signal, indicated that the switch might be the cause of the malfunction. Indeed it was. Shifting the door panel upwards for removal is not possible however. I found out it's better to pull the panel perpendicular away from the door, after releasing all the bolts. Some of the snappers (2 at each vertical end) for the door panels may break, but the same happened when I tried to shift vertically up. Anyway, these snappers are inexpensive. Note that the cover of the door handle has to be shifted upwards in order to remove them and gain access to the two bolts underneath. After removing the door panel, the switch panel had to be removed from the door panel. In my case this had such a tight fit, that I don't think this can be done without removing the door panel first, without damaging anything. For those who want to try anyway: as written in another comment, indeed lift the switch panel at the REAR side, the snapper is in the center of the rear side. Then the final cleaning: the carbon contacts looked alright and clean. However, after cleaning with contact spray on a white tissue, only the faulty contact did make the tissue dirty. Thanks again for the video!

My roof wouldn’t work nor boot from door switch but would beep with handbrake off ???
Switch out cleaned and everything now works
Just have to find why my ABS light comes on (faintly) when ignition is switched off ???

I prized out the module and took out the four screws on the inner part of the circuit board….Yep it works fine , we used white spirit as that’s all we had. I’m still left with the drivers door window in the up position but at least the roof works…
    Many thanks..

BRILLIANT!!! It worked!!! I Will ad though if anyone is going to do this, to save a lot of time & bother you can prise the window switch cluster out without taking the door card off. Just use a small very thin screwdriver behind the end with the switch for the roof & prise it up, its out in seconds. Then use the thin screwdriver to ease off the connector. Took me 15 minutes to remove, clean & re-fit & roof down! Thanks again.

I have this exact problem. But DO NOT DO THIS unless you're a good car DIYer, as getting the door trim off is not easy as suggested here, infect I think I've broken the trim & will now have to go to a garage anyway.

Well done! For coming up with the idea to make a video "trouble shooting" and finding one of main problems being the switch mechanism (drivers door panel) on the Vauxhall Tigra.
This is obviously a common fault! Looking at the views and comments on this page.
Since, this video has been made there has been lots of other videos based under your initial concept. And it seems, if it wasn't for you taking the time to investigate and post, most of us would have paid a lot of money! And wasted a lot of time! To resolve this issue.
    Thank you!

Did spend near 172 dollar inkl. Swedish tax at Opel reseller (Borås) for finding NO error codes! The temporary fix was to move the roof button sideways at the same time as I did lift it, try doing this i little hard until you hear the roof starts opening and keep lifting the button. A near 100 prof to that there is dust or oxid inside the buttons. If this works Peter Trenholms cleaning advise is the way to go before buying new buttons. One hour at Opel reseller did cost 1.550 SEK a very bad investment :-(

    Lovely, thank you.
The sign telling it's the switch being the culprit is no noises at all. As you say.
Have ended up by accident buying one of these little cars. Roof doesn't work, hoping for either this issue, or a faulty interlock.

You're the best :D I've just cleaned the switches in my girlfriend's car with 97% alcohol and ear buds, now the roof working just like new :D You don't need to disassembly the whole door panel, all you need to do is pry the switches up with a flat screwdriver from the bottom side there is a place to insert a screwdriver it's a 5 min work. Good luck!

Please, please don't use WD on switches. It leaves residue which attract dirt and moisture.
Anyhoo...you know how to re-do the procedure in autumn.
      Use proper contact cleaner instead.
In general, just don't use WD40 on your car. It does not do any good.
It's intended to keep 1960's rockets rust free. Sadly, marketing has made everyone believe WD is the bee's knees. It's not!
