great video, i do most of these and i don't even race ... but they're great for reinforcing technique. I like to exaggerate drills also, which the skier is doing, i find that really helps, never ski that way but for drills ... really helps to play around with drills ... and most drills you want to do on easy hill, where you master it.
@@Triggerboy62 if ya can't do it on the easy hill, what makes one think they can do it on the difficult ones ... that's always boggled my mind .... You don't have the time to think about it on the difficult ones, it just has to happen and that is never gonna happen unless you master it on the easy hill - where you do have time to .... think ... about it ... that's my opinion. By the way, really enjoy your channel and comments. What do you think of lateral transitioning as opposed to up and down/unweighing (and i do realise there will always be a bit of up and down, even if lateral). I think that's' the direction to explore.
@@Triggerboy62 of course, you're not an expert if you can't ... cuz lot of times, you can't carve ... in the eskimo language of my country, there are 200 words for snow .... each requires it's own way of skiing .... then terrain factors in ... and on and on .... yeh, if you can't ski many different ways ....
any hints on moving forward from the back seat TriggerBoy62. I grew up skiing firmly carving in the front of my boots-dodging BAMBOO Kendo sticks. I need to find a move to get from my ancient carving very forward stance to letting the skis run.
Did you watch the "Carve like a Boss" video? Or the "Secret Moves" videos? Maybe you are not very familiar with this sort of technique. Take a look at them and report back please. Really nice when someone engages into technical discussions.
@@Triggerboy62 Thanks again Tom. Your videos are really super helpful. I'd watched all of them and going back to watch Carve like a Boss was instrumental in understanding the flex to extension. I'd always had one ski off the snow, but definitely was more of a static position. At 65 I'm probably not going to start doing back flips like the youngster in the video, but I can suck it up to get through a race course and get down lower the V shape versus X shape really gives me a visual on what I need to do to execute. Headed to the Nastar Nationals tomorrow in Aspen and seriously will try and use your guuidancec to get beyond the bronze medal class in the fossil division! Truly many thanks for making great instructional videos-which are fun to watch too!
Is that with purpose, that superman drill was performed in two different ways? 1) Inside arm forward, outside lay down on the hip and pushing it into the turn. 2) Outside arm forward, inside on the inside hip preveting from hip dump. Cheers!
Short skies changed some of what made sking graceful art of the turn.
Great presentation Tom.

My favorite video. Just perfect. But steeper all the way would be better. Where is it?

Never seen explanation What's "3-point separation"?
We think you should join our Ski Test Team! OUTSTANDING skill.
@skigeartv Is there a resort where a skier could try out for the ski test team?
Great GS skiing on a SL ski.
