My mom once asked me why do collectors collect toy boxes if the toys were meant to be played with and my answer was because it makes the collector happy. You need no other reason than to collect what you love.
Or as it's a 1000% legit question, you could explain that it's to later sell the item at a 500% profit. The reality of modern collectors that will light themselves on fire before admitting.
@@michaelabney3486 Not necessarily. For many, it's the gorgeous artwork on the box. That's why you see so many Star Wars retro figure collectors peeling that sticker off the card back. It has nothing to do with resale value.
Cool, that Ewok Forest base looks nice. Maybe Paz could make the box for that? Is it really true that they used the base for the Kevin Costner Robin Hood Forest hideout.
One of my favorite parts of your unboxing videos is when you stare in amazement at the contents as you process what’s inside, it’s like watching a kid unwrap an unexpected gift.
When I started collecting Star Wars,I told my wife I was just going to collect Empire, then she catches me watching a video like this, and I immediately get the look, you know the one.
Love that Ewok village. I got to play with my cousins' set when I was little. Around that time Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves came out and Kenner reused the mold for the Sherwood Forest playset. One major change they made was to add foliage that could be added to the tops of the trees. Michael French has a great example in his collection, perhaps you've noticed it? I always felt the Ewok village just needed that splash of green - glad Kenner fixed that oversight with the Robin Hood line.
Love that custom box at the end. I have the ewok village too, just a word of warning with it, if you disassemble the platform, you'll see theres 3 sections of beige plastic platform that clip off at the tree trunks, these are clipped into the main body of the platform and those clips are tight and have got brittle over time and notoriously break very easily. Be very careful if you ever take that bit of the toy apart. Glad you got one in the collection! Loved the video.
Tony, that was excellent. You are a lucky man for sure. I love unboxing videos and seeing the genuine expressions on faces. I love you channel and also that you are a veteran - my Dad was in WWII so I respect that. Good on ya.
While I didn't have the Ewok village, I did have the Robin Hood village that used the exact same mold. Yes, it was fun, sometimes you just want a boy's equivalent of a doll house as a base for your action figures.
in fact tony..i thought it was super cool and refreshing to see a different background while you does the unboxing. enjoy every single bit of it! thank you
Wow!!!, it's beautiful. From the sledgemaster. I wish I could see ur years of collecting pieces. I have been collecting for 37 years. From the sledgemaster
Excellent unboxing video, Tony. And what a magnificent selection of vintage and custom pieces, to add to your collection. I especially love the custom Evel Kenievel box, as I owned an original one during my childhood, but simply threw it away, to save space!
As neat as it is to see that Ewok Village, as someone who dabbles in graphic design, those repro boxes/cardbacks are stunning pieces. Paz, buddy, if you're reading this, these are next level man. Thanks for sharing this with us Tony, seeing your face light up upon that Stunt Cycle box reveal made my morning
I had the Sherwood Forest playset. I didn't know it was the Ewok Village until I saw one at a comic book shop and I was like, 'where are the leaves?' lol Good on ya for scoring an Ewok Village.
I had the Ewok village as a kid but lost it many years ago. Got another one complete in great condition last month. Great to see you unboxing this also!
I’m only collect Star Wars and Empire toys bc I “aged out” of toys before Jedi. That Ewok village looks very nice and complete in a single purchase. Congrats.
Me and my siblings had the ewok village when we were kids. I keep thinking about getting one again but I'm not sure where it would live. But that looks exactly how I remember it! I haven't seen a complete one in decades. Also ... While I don't have a lot of packed stuff or packages figures in my collection ... The boxes and packaging are so hard to find for anything. They're works of art as far as I'm concerned and it's always interesting to see them. And they bring back happy memories of simpler days. No wonder the reproduction market has really taken off! I've thought about re-carding some of my figures for display ... But I worry that the reproduction card backs may rub some of their color off onto the back of figures. How well are they made these days? Great video as always!
That Ewok Village looks minty fresh - congratulations Toni! Never had 1 as a kid, but I always dreamt of having 3, side-by-side, connected by some custom, make-shift rope bridges (made by 9 year-old me lol.
Love your vids, love the unboxing! That Ewok village is amazing and, like you, I never had it as a kid but have it on my collection as well but it's still on the box BC it's such a large piece to display. You rock man, loyal Canadian supporter! 🔥🔥🔥
The look on your face when you opened the last box had me worried a little bit. It's like when you give someone a gift and you're not sure if they like it or not when you see their reaction.
Amazingly I picked one up at a car boot sale near me for £4 ,the bloke new what it was but just didn’t care he wanted rid ,same guy sold a base guitar for50p know idea what was going on that day.
Very cool. I think the Ewok village ranks up there with the Death Star as far as play value goes. I bought a 2nd junker set for $20. If you have a spare moment, please check out my 1984 Ewok village. I added lights, a cage, rising C-3P0, and other fun things. Short version: th-cam.com/video/KR-JkBUKfDo/w-d-xo.html Long version: th-cam.com/video/0epfwU0RDzQ/w-d-xo.html
Any reason why you went with the Ewok village and not the Sherwood Forest play set? I just saw Sherwood at a toy show last weekend and thought that if I was to get either, I'd get Sherwood just because I think it looks better.
That Ewok playset has quite the footprint and should be cool in your display/videos. I was surprised at the number of play features it has when I got mine. Those vintage boxes from instagram.com/cyborg_customs7/ look great!
Big guy my I ask a mailing address to send you any extra figures I may have. In great condition. Thank u. From the sledgemaster 3 times making professional powerlifting history in 2022 and on August 6th and 7th at pioneer classic in Hamilton, Ohio 2022
Damn!! That is a cool unboxing stash mate! That Ewok village could also double up as a woodland camp for the old Action Force figures.... endless fun right there!
You know you are a Star Wars Nerd when you knew what Tony had, before he unpacked it, simply by the shape.

That's true, it's the nostalgia that evoques a sealed box and the art of the actual boxes........those MOTU and GIJOE boxes are gorgeous.
Cool, that Ewok Forest base looks nice. Maybe Paz could make the box for that? Is it really true that they used the base for the Kevin Costner Robin Hood Forest hideout.

My best friend had one and even if you were in the anti Ewok camp, this was tons of fun to play with. Nice score!
Those aren't boxes. Those are works of art.
Nice ewok village! To be honest I was guessing the kenner death star. I'm so glad I was wrong!

Amazing boxes. I’d love to get a SMDM box for my SuperMad toys Bionic Man 1:6 scale.
The look on your face when you opened the last box had me worried a little bit. It's like when you give someone a gift and you're not sure if they like it or not when you see their reaction.
