Great video 😊 You gave a detailed explanation on the structure of songwriting.
I personally don't write music but if i do, I know more about the importance of creating a story by writing down the beginning and ending before filling in the missing details.
I noticed many popular songs follow the same composition structure but you made me realize new patterns that I sometimes forget about. Keep it up! 🤗❤

Thanks so much! Sorry I missed your comment until now! Absolutely the rhyming dictionaries can be a lifesaver 😅 I try to spend time learning words ahead of time so that when I am writing, the rhymes come more from my head than referencing. But that's tough when I'm stuck on a lyric 🙃

Joel "Who would want to listen to the same measure for 3 minutes?"
Minimalists composers everywhere "Yeah, 3 minutes isn't near enough."

I've got an endless amount of stories to write about and one thing that helps me put the right words into their song is just simply writing the story down first, making sure I get the details I want in there and forming that written story into a rhyming song. I like to keep a list of random words to look through cause I'll hear the word and think "Hmm that sounds cool lets put that into a song" and then never get to it because I have a horrible memory so I have to write them down. And I have to keep a list of people and events I have written about cause again I have a really really bad memory and can't always remember if I've already written a song for that and sometimes think I have but I haven't so another reason I have to write down literally everything I do just to remember if I have even done it yet,my organization system is outrageously large. Anyway thanks for the video, my kind of conversation as you can tell by this stupid long comment I'm writing at 10:40pm when I'm supposed to be asleep.

Thanks so much for sharing! It's so inspiring to hear how other people work. I'm a complete mess most of the time, with voice memos and notebooks full of ideas.
I also love to write out the whole story if I ever feel stuck. It really helps me to know what words I'm trying to get down. I love the idea of having a word pile to pull from. I should definitely try that!

@@JoelAbshier its one of my favorite things to have, just collecting a load of words for a song one day, for example one day I was walking outside and saw a dandelion and for no reason had to write it down cause I knew I'd need it one day and its now in a song called Dandelion Rain. Something else I do when I'm with my friend or family I ask them random questions, rather it be what's your favorite color or activity, it gives me a word to start with then I eventually have to ask them what do you think rhymes with that and it just keeps going.
