Hey Matt! Thank you for the video. Just to let you know that you don't have to add the command to every block. Just change the global command from command=$SCRIPT_DIR/$BLOCK_NAME to command=$SCRIPT_DIR/$BLOCK_NAME/$BLOCK_NAME and everything should work 👍

Regarding adding the icons to the bar, if you want a calendar icon for date and a clock icon for time, you should be able to embed them in the date/time string.

This looks really good and I've managed to follow along a bit. I can't seem to get the battery to show at all.
Edit: Solved this problem. I was missing the acpi package. Works great now! I'm a bit new to this all...

I have been using i3wm about a year. I have heavily invested on it, however I still can not content with it because I have never understood how it really places the windows in a workspace. I listened 11 years old video on youtube, I read the documentation about tree structure, but still I have difficulty placing the windows as the way I want or change the current layout as the way I want. It will be great if you can create a tutorial i3wm tree structure and how to shift, change workspace layouts. Thanks in advance.

I have been a i3 user since 2009 and 2022 was the year I moved over to something I can edit the source better aka qtile and I'm really liking it and I made it work alot like i3 anyways other then the layouts :) even my groups act like i3 does

Ok, I just realized a stupid mistake I was making in my i3blocks config, and now I need to rewrite them all. Again. I didn't know, or realize I could just disable the separator... AAAaaa!!!

If you're like most people and have 2-3 windows tops on a workspace, it works perfectly fine, and still works great with more. These days you can even hold the Mod key and left or right click to move/resize windows respectively, if moving windows around is cumbersome. Also, any demo of a dynamic tiler (Awesome, QTile, etc) I've ever seen has the guy showing how he moves windows around and resizes manually, so how is that much different from placing them where you want to begin with? You would know from the video title that he's going to be talking about i3, so did you just come here to troll and hate on it? Don't be a douche because someone else has different preferences than you.

I actually believe that for first time tiling WM users Spectrwm > I3wm.
