I look forward to these every week but I have been looking forward to Ryan’s since the beginning. Jason Stackhouse is one of my favorite characters ever. Ryan was so fantastic as Jason!
So great to hear from Ryan Kwanten - what an extraordinary performance he gave as Jason; as Kristin pointed out, to play a character like that successfully, you have to be nothing like the character in real life! Very interesting to hear the books he read as research for his Jason , and I agree with his statement that one of the reasons the show was so popular was because every viewer found a character or storyline that resonated so deeply with them. Ending the interview with the story about the T-Shirt was very funny! Looking forward to Chris Bauer next week.
The moment he (Jason) realized why he was the way he was via being molested by a teacher as a youth was heart-wrenching. Because in reality, young boys are victims of SA far beyond what anyone knows, so when that aspect of his life was unlocked, the audience grew with him in that moment. Literally one of THE best casts in all of TV, I think 6 feet under and of course the magnanimous GoT got every actor matched perfectly with the characters.(P.S. I also have the Bon Temp Football shirt! Best of the merch)
I have a theory that Rutger Hauer read "Halfling" in the script and mistook faeries for hobbits, and showed up on set dressed as a hobbit. This explains the bushy hair, pipe, waistcoat, appetite, etc.
