In this video I show you how to remove the handbrake trim panel and front seat armrest/storage unit. When this unit is removed it makes it easy to inspect and access the handbrake cable adjuster nut which is very awkward to access with the trim in position. As you may or may not know, the T30 parking brake is well know for being a bit weak although to be fair, that's more likely due to owners not adjusting them correctly because it is a bit of a faff. I will make a dedicated handbrake adjustment video soon.
As you can see from the video, there is only five cross head/philips head screws holding the centre trim. Be aware that higher trim spec T30's will look slightly different and may have air vents for rear passengers so the process may differ. As before, the car in the video is my own 2005 DCi Sport 2.2.

Hello, my friend! How are you? I am from Brazil, and I just fixed the adjustment of my X-Trail's handbrake following your tips. I could not do this without seeing your video. Thanks a lot!

Hi, Can you tell me how many clicks there should be on the handbrake. Thanks.

Hi, six to seven clicks according to the Nissan workshop manual.

I'm not familiar with the T30 satnav system since my one doesn't have it but after doing some googling it appears the system does have option to take a reversing camera if the system is a GVIF unit. I'm guessing there will be a spare connector on it that enables camera video and power. Probably better off asking on the Facebook Xtrail UK group as I'm sure owners have fitted rev cameras.

Found this Russian video that shows fitting reversing camera to a T30. Unfortunately no translation.

@@TK42138 If you're interested I've created a small tutorial (on a pdf) on how to install the reverse camera with an aftermarket headunit :) I'll tried to explain it as clearly as possible (english isn't my native language) for a Facebook group of T30 owners. I've also put parking sensors (on my 2002 T30).
Anyway, thanks for your T30 playlist, that's very informative !

How can you release the top of the shift knob?

I was wondering about that too. I found a pdf on the gearbox and linkages and according to the diagram there's a glue tube symbol pointing to the part but no other information. I've got some other pdf's to search through just in case it's covered under a different section.

@@TK42138 thanks dude. I think it's just pushed on top so it should work to carefully use a hammer from below and give it some knocks upwards. I hope you know what I mean

@@ralphjuharust Just found the workshop manual for instrument panel and associated parts. Looks like the gear lever knob rotates and lifts off. Other than that the instructions are vague.

      Can confirm it simply unscrews.
